  1. My Mum accidentally put E10 (Yes E10!!) instead of a Diesel in our Nissan X-Trail TL.. running on a severe lack of sleep I don't hold anything against her. The car moved about 20m before the engine died, tried to crank again and it just would not turn over. The car has been towed back home now. I am asking all the mechanical elders for advice now. Would it be as simple as draining the E10 and putting some Diesel in it? Think any damage has been done?
  2. Holy shit, you guys are all complete idiots. You GTR boys are looking no further than the shell and the machine itself. No doubt it's an awesome car! I sure as hell would want one. But can't you guys see the merit, fun and satisfaction in building something yourself? For example, putting a 2JZ-GTE in a Toyota Cressida, that's pretty cool.. Or NOS in an old school Carolla. Same sort of deal imo.. They're not trying to make a GTS-T/GTT a GTR - that I can see is silly. But it's about having a car that's different, this makes it yours.. There's respect involved there. Idiots.
  3. A bit of experience from my computer tech days, keep in mind that laptop soundcards are usually pretty weak/lousy as they only need to power such tiny speakers also their snr usually is very low. Give it a go and if it works to your standards that's great, otherwise a good external soundcard would provide a considerable gain in quality. Check what soundcard you have in your laptop already, if it's Creative you should be pretty sweet to go anything else and at higher volumes you get a lot of white noise and generally much poorer bass response. Depending on the laptop you can upgrade the internal soundcard too but that's a little more complex. I actually was thinking of doing this for my R33 aswell, except I thought of taking out the laptop motherboard and making my own little perspex case for it. Good luck, post pics!
  4. If you put a pretty clear warning sign on your car saying it's electrified would it still be illegal? It's no longer a mantrap this way, it's kind of like having an electric fence is it not? Besides it's your private property, it shouldn't really be touched anyway.. The 2yo kid story is kind of scary tho, but a 2yo kid could also touch an electric fence.. EDIT: As for the low power tingler, it looks like that could be the sort of device they use in those games that give you a little zap is it enough? I've never touched an electric fence before (always pussied out..... like a boss) but how does it compare? And 30three is more than likely right, a little zap would really piss off a thug if they had an intention.
  5. Is your 7" Screen double din (replacing your head unit) or not? If not, you could plug the Laptop audio into Auxiliary of the head unit.
  6. Oh dear (Freaking out), should I take it out as soon as possible? What a waste of cash... >.< Yet another victim to Autobarn.
  7. Where can I get E85 in Brisbane? I haven't seen it anywhere.
  8. Ahh damn, I just got my gearbox oil changed into Royal Purple Synchromax. Car is a daily drive, mostly stock but I like performance.. How much am I missing out on by going Royal Purple? Heck, is it even the right thing to use on my R33? (Done about 89000k, no synchro probs but clutch is a bit warn) Is it a bad oil? The Royal Purple Synchromax that is, well I highly doubt it's bad but compared to Redline? I also changed my engine oil to 5w30w Royal Purple oil from Motul 4100 Turbolite and it feels a hell of a lot better I wanted to try something thinner and a better grade, was tempted to try Mobil 1 0w30w but wasn't too sure on the quality of it. The shifting still feels smoother than whatever was in there before, need a new clutch tho, a bit of crunching in all gears so I'm going easy on it.
  9. (Where on earth is the edit button? Sleep deprivation maybe..) Anyway, I finished wiring the two strips to the cigarette lighter light so it turns on when I turn on my parkers, I don't have a switch to override it tho. It took me long enough (the whole night =P from about 3:30 I started and finished including the finishing touches at about 6:30) but it was the first time I opened up my centre console at all so I'm pretty happy with myself that it's atleast all looking neat. Spent a lot of time trying to pull stuff apart that I really didn't need to. =P Anyway, experience for my next project, LED dash.. I really like how it turned out, the LED strips I have are very thin and I used a double sided tape (not the thick type but the one you peel off the paper like material and it leaves a thin glue) as the double sided tape (same stuff that I used) on the LED strips got a little old and weren't sticky enough for my likings.. I'll post pics soon! Question however, still... legalities in QLD? I've got them permanently on when the lights are on am I going to be in trouble? I really just don't want them picking on my FMIC install. >.< Another thing, my parkers are still a yellow bulb while my headlights are white halogens (not bright enough for my liking tbh but that's a different issue) from when I got the car. I've read things about people installing indicators in the parkers which I think is a great idea (even tho I still have the stock series 1 bumper and indicators) but I didn't want to lose out on my parkers. I was thinking of the possibility of having both an orange (indicator) and white (parker) in there and the respective parker turning off when indicating and only the orange bulb is on (flashing).. is it possible? I'm sure the electronics are somehow.. first things first tho is if you can actually fit two bulbs (or a multicoloured led maybe?!??! I just thought of that - yes I am crazy right now, no seriously) EDIT: I have an edit button here, but not post #1.. =\
  10. Hi guys, *DISCLAIMER* I've tried searching the forums for a good two hours with no avail. *puts on flameproof suit* I currently am troubled with a lot of things so can't sleep so figured I'd try do something productive with my time.. I have these 12v LED strips that I want to install underneath the dash at the driver/passenger seat. I have had these lying around for the past couple months picked up cheap from eBay.. I'm not sure where I can grab the power from in my R33.. Ideally I would like them to work with my cabin light so I can control it from there, any idea's how I can do this? Otherwise, I heard the cigarette lighter light is a good place to get the power from however this means the lights turn on as you turn on your parkers, what are the legalities of driving with footwell lighting? I really don't want to spend the time on installing a switch for this job.. Either way would be nice, with the cabin light would be ideal.. Also, I want to change my interior cabin and reading bulbs to LED, what size/type bulb do I need.
  11. Sounds quite the lol... don't know if it's legal tho. A quick google finds: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/general-mp...arm-system.html
  12. This is what I found interesting.. Can anyone confirm this for an R33 GTS-T (And other models for everyone else)? And know how it works? Having my speedo go haywire is the thing which is stopping me from changing my wheels.
  13. Hi there, I have an R33 Series I (1995) coupe and am trying to install some new speakers. How do I take off the driver and passenger door trim?
  14. AFAIK it's normal. I hear it in almost all cars I drive. You could try changing the transmission oil, I don't know if it would help tho.
  15. I'm getting the exact same problem in my R33 SI GTS-T.. I just finished installing a FMIC (which was a bitch, damn clamps flying off) and only just started noticing it now that I'm listening extra carefully.. I did some diagnostic and noticed that if I push my clutch in while it's rattling the rattling immediately stops. I was in second gear, stock ECU.
  16. Hey guys, My uncle and extended family have been talking about this "water to gas" thing for a while now so I decided to have a look at it. It seems pretty interesting, it works by injecting a mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen gas from water into your engine to help combustion. It has been advertised to increase fuel economy but in theory it really just sounds like it is increasing power. Link: http://www.watertogas.com/ They have a radio interview with the creator of this product if you click the microphone on the right hand side of the navigation bar. I'm sure there's all sorts of different variations of this product, my uncle is talking about buying a kit then installing it on an OLD Toyota Camry to see how it goes, don't know if they're all talk or not at this stage tho. I wouldn't dare put my Skyline up as the guinea pig here, tho in theory it sounds pretty damn cool. tl;dr version: Hydrogen Oxygen gas is created from Charged Water with 2 tsp. Hydrogen Peroxide and is injected into your engine to assist with combustion of fuel. /discuss
  17. Problem solved, I did the diagnostic again and turned my steering wheel from left to right and drove forward a few metres fairly quickly then stopped rapidly rather than crawling forward with the clutch a few metres and put my car back to neutral and engaged the hand brake and its all good now. I still haven't felt HICAS kick in however.
  18. Hi guys, Ever since I had my car I've never seen the HICAS light come on except for when turning on my car and just today I did a HICAS Diagnostic test (From Gregs post in here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/HI...tic-t22193.html ) I drive the car well under its limits really, and am interested in getting it working really just to see what it's like and for insurance purposes! I have got the following error messages: 22 Steering angle sensor not present 23 Steering angle sensor neutral or not present 32 (Auto) Inhibitor switch input not present; (Manual) Neutral switch input not present So yes, any idea's on what's involved to fix these? Car is a 1995 GTS-T, I do not have a custom steering wheel. I felt the rear wheels move for the first time when doing the diagnostic was quite... interesting. I'm still keen to fix HICAS however all help will be greatly appreciated!
  19. Hey, I'm looking for a bracket for my 3A Racing Pod on an R33 GTS-T. I'm located in South Side Brisbane
  20. Is this an R33 GTS-T? If so is it possible to buy just the stock Air Box alone? Don't need the snorkel or any filter.
  21. Hmm, been testing and driving around more and I notice (according to the stock boost gauge) my boost goes about 1 to 1 and half needle widths above the half way mark (between 0-7) is my car getting too much boost now? I recently got the car, it is completely stock except for a K&N Pod Filter I installed recently.
  22. Just did the mod today, was a little worried as I'm pretty new to all this but it's really so damn easy and boy does it make a difference while driving normally! Highly Recommend just go do it already it's free and so damn easy!
