  1. I like how you highlighted Melbourne Magistrate's court LOL
  2. Hey, I'd buy that! TRD made a supercharged HiLux.
  3. http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/smallfish_info.php?products_id=48145 I bought mine for $400 when GT5 came out, so this sounds cheap.
  4. Grey/silver R33 GTS-?T northbound on Pascoe Vale road in Broady, 8 am today. Had SAU-Vic stickers as well, shared a wave.
  5. Maybe I should have clarified it is forgiving when driving at MY limit, not the car's The few times on twisty mountain tracks where I felt I was losing traction, I corrected no problem. When I drove an XR8 before it just felt totally out of control like it wanted to spin the tail out whenever I pressed on the gas in the corners. It was damp though.
  6. http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/nismo-nissans-fast-plans-20120407-1whnq.html Did I interpret this article correctly? Nissan Australia will be selling Nismo upgraded models here like HSV/FPV, AMG, Ralliart, etc? And Nismo parts will be available for us to buy locally? That should be make them cheaper yes?
  7. Most of the alternatives you mentioned are high powered FR cars. Maybe it's just because my driving skills aren't stellar, or I haven't driven a decent example yet, but I always felt I couldn't go 100% in these type of cars in the interests of self-preservation. On the other hand, the R34 GTR in my experience is VERY forgiving at the limit, probably due in particular to AWD. I went from driving an old, auto Mitsubishi Magna family car to driving this, my first sports car, modified car and manual car without problems. I have never felt out of control, and even when I felt the tires lose traction, it is very easily correctable without missing a beat. I have never gone to the track or DECA or had any driving instruction (apart from getting lessons in driving stick shift before I bought it ). Like an evo, it's a car that makes you feel like you're a much better driver than you really are, for better or worse. You don't need the level of driving skill to punt one of these at the same speeds on a twisty mountain track as you would an FR, and you would feel safer and more confident all the way. My impression may change in the future if my skills improve and I want more of a challenge, but for the moment, an R34 GTR is probably the best sports car for me. Before I got my daily, my GTR was it. It can be a bit of a pain to drive with a modified clutch in stop-start traffic, but I only realised this AFTER getting my auto run-about hatchback. In true manual cars of this performance level, it's a pretty good daily. The boot is reasonable, and I have had 2 adults in the back seat at least once a week for the last few years with no injuries That said, for the sake of preserving a mint condition GTR, you may want to have a daily to do the grocery run, drive out when it's possibly hailing, in a rough neighbourhood where you have to park on-street, etc. The alternatives you mentioned - most of them are good dailies in their own right. One drawback is that you WILL get more attention, whether you want it or not, in the 34 GTR due to it being an import, even if it's stock as a rock and you're driving like an 80 year old nanna going to church.
  8. I'm interested but can u add some more info? Like around which area of Melbourne/Vic we are cruising? There's isolated showers forecast for Sunday. And about how long it will take, etc? PM me please if you would prefer.

    Gor Wrap Up

LOL I did mean the blue R34 with the green P plates. I assumed it was NA due to the P plates and it looked like a 25GT rather than like a GTT? (Not the best at distinguishing tho...) I knew his car wasn't stock.

    Gor Wrap Up

Thanks for organising the cruise. I've been to GOR 09 and 10 before. Today had a different feel to it. Also Hamish and JamesK weren't there, although lots of new faces. The pace felt a bit slower today, for better or worse. I remember having to boot it and late brake to keep up with the frontrunners last time. Bit frustrating as usual with the inconsiderate tourists blocking us. That Camry on the way back was insanely slow, doing like 20 km/h under the limit sometimes and refusing to pull over. I think they dropped the speed limit on SCR out from Apollo Bay from 100 to 80, with the "New Limit" sign. No fun Also too many cops - more than I have seen at GOR before. 4WD patrol car in Anglesea, cop bike near Apollo Bay, unmarked cop car on M1 back to Melbourne pulling over the trio of sportsbikers. Was there a reason we didn't stop at Anglesea like usual? I was busting to go take a leak I assume because we were running late. In the past, we also met up at BP Little River Melb-bound on the way back. I only saw one other skyline there. After talking to him, I'm not sure if we all took the same route back? There seemed to be a random left turn out of no-where off the main highway onto a single lane D-road. And I think Al and I were the only ones using our CBs. The previous GORs we were in, there were heaps of people with CBs and lively chatter. Good to see Ash come out for GOR though. The blue R34 GT with the P plate tailing me on the way back.... was worried you might rear end me if I braked too suddenly. If there was one car that I didn't think would be able to keep up, it would've been a P-plater in a N/A car, but I doubt your car's standard Good work. All in all, good weather and company. See you all at the next cruise!
  11. Hi guys, tried to find a post on this but couldn't. Just got my radiator flushed and wanted to replace my hoses as well as they are a bit hard. Any suggestions for aftermarkets? Didn't want to go OEM. On nengun, there's either the Billion ones ( $154) or the Samco ones ($226). http://www.nengun.co...:u;m:5;c:75;g:1 Also I found this for $30 + $15 shipping on carcraze: http://carcraze.com....-rb26dett-blue/ Kind of odd that they fit R32, 33 and 34 GTR, when the other companies have specific hoses for each one. Maybe they are the super cheap flexible ones?? Or are aftermarket silicone radiator hoses pretty much all equivalent? Thanks
  12. After changing the rules to exclude the GTR, you can be sure Folden won't be making the same mistake again. As Birds said, it's not going to be anything like the exciting Bathurst races of yesteryear with the turbo 6 AWD dominance over local V8 FRs. It's going to be all V8 FRs similarly engineered. The Nissan entry will be some bastardized V8 Maxima or equivalent, that bears little resemblance to the factory car. There won't be a GTR or 370Z - Folden will make sure of that, so that they don't get thoroughly embarassed like 2 decades ago. Personally I find the most exciting races the ones with a potpourri of different cars, layouts, engines, etc. like Best Motoring races, but that's never going to happen at a professional sponsorship level. Too many variables.
  13. Just got back from a day trip to Apollo Bay and back. Few cops, including one hidden behind a bush on the Princes Fwy to Geelong with his radar gun out. Lights weren't on. Another cop that was in the oncoming lane made my heart skip a beat as I was flooring it overtaking a slow caravan in the overtaking lane. It's hard to resist building up enough speed to get in front of a slow car when you are in those precious overtaking lanes which are few and far inbetween.
  14. Another place to buy bike (specifically mainly motox) stuff is torpedo7.com.au
  15. Geez, seriously? I just got a set of $10 Supercheap Auto ones. Work fine. Never used RainX. Got better things to spend my money and time researching on than wiper blades
  16. Sedans/wagons as opposed to coupes, convertibles, 4x4s etc.
  17. Bought one last night. I usually go there to get my car serviced cuz it's close. Time for a major service.
  18. Thanks for your advice, and fantastic resource! I just realised there's a hell of a lot to learn about the plethora of expensive quality detailing products around and how to use them. And I thought mechanical mods were a money pit for what you get. How wrong I was.
  19. Michelin Pilot Precedas 245/40/18 Cost: $450/cnr I think Lasted 24 months/15,000 kms. No track work. Street tyre rating Dry: 8/10 Wet: 7/10 Value: 7/10 Getting Michelin Pilot PS2s 265/35/18s for about same price delivered from Tire-Rack. Should be a step up in terms of dry performance. PS2s seem to be consistently one of, if not THE most highly rated tyre online for dry performance from a street tyre.
  20. Awesome. I'm amateur at doing this, but I'll give it a try. I wanted to use it and then put a layer of P21 carnauba wax over it, and just re-wax occasionally. How often are you meant to clean your car? Do you re-wax every time? If I do it as soon as it gets visibly dirty, it'd be every week. I guess you don't want to clean it too often, as you'd be wasting a lot of wax.
  21. Hey has anyone used C.Quartz? It's meant to be one of the better sealants around that hardens and protects your car for up to 12 months. Pretty pricey at about $70 for 30 ml. Anyone recommend this?

    Detailing Day

Fantastic day, really glad I went, and learnt heaps from a well-run workshop that covered a lot. Weather held up beautifully too. Great to meet Antonio and Russel from Waxit, as well as see a few familiar SAU faces. The black 34 GTR was mint. Love your 19" volks. My wallet's a lot lighter with all the stuff I bought, but it'll be an investment in my poor neglected car. Really amazed at how that special cleaner just powered through all the buildup on the rear-bar from the exhaust. I've tried removing it before with many things, none of which worked. I shelled out for the C.Quartz hard coat that apparently lasts for >12 months. I'm lazy, and can't be assed waxing every 2 months. Anyone else used this? I think you have to be quite particular and fussy with how to apply it - it is not as forgiving as wax/other sealantsm, and the surface you are coating really should be pristine. Will give it a go later. Looking forward to the advanced session.
  23. Hey just wondering what would be the best brake pads to get for an R34 GTR, 310 awkw. Stock rotors and brembo calipers. Minimal track use. Occasional spirited street driving. Most important thing to me is that they aren't noisy - can't stand that cold screech. Also prefer not to be dusty. Basically I'd be happy with another set of OEM pads, but have no idea where to get them. Thanks.

    Ratpiss Kids

Best solution. Get a pitbull and chain him outside your sister's front lawn. I guarantee the kids won't go near your property/car now.
  25. I don't mind doing it in the cooler months as you say. - less tourist roadblocks - less cops (as less popular) - cooler temps better for our turbo cars Just have to land a non-raining weekend.
