  1. My apologies guys, but if you are planning on running 10's or quicker then this day is NOT for you.. Simple as that. I dont need the aggravation.
  2. Short answer is YES! Have you ever been to a Wednesday Night Eastern Creek Meeting? It's usually 1 hour in between runs. There is no comparison. Private days are a fun day with as many runs as you can take! You will be exhausted at the end of the day. 10x better experience, and well worth it.
  3. Hi Guys, spots are filling fast (30+ taken in one day!) If you are keen send me a PM. You will need to pay a $100 deposit to secure your spot. I will provide details via PM. Cheers.
  4. I've found availability of the above harness bar (for evo 7~9) in Sydney, so it looks like this is what i will be doing. Seems nice and clean and should be installed/removed in 10 minutes or less. About $650AU. I'llpost some pics when i get it installed.
  5. I have heard the boat is due in Sydney next week (25th or 26th).

  7. thanks for the link, what do you think about that bracket coming off the seatbelt mounting point (at the top)? Looks a bit delicate. FWIW, I've been told the EVO9 Sparco harness bar actually fits the R35 (as below) with a slight modification (longer threads for downtubes). What do you think?
  8. Anyone considered or installed a harness bar for an R35? - Would prefer something which can be removed in between race meetings if possible. Any ideas or fabricators in Sydney who may have done similar work before? Thx
  9. most of us would be aware of the street price for aftermarket rotors/pads and various other goodies for r35's by now. but these nissan prices are insane. It's just an opinion. OK so these prices might not be a surprise to some, that's great. The result is likely the same, we'll not buy them.
  10. Can i ask where you get your rotors and pads? cheers
  11. I guess a lot of people have signed contracts without knowing what service costs may be. I explicitly asked beforehand, but they couldnt tell me. To be frank, if they told me a pad+rotor swap was going to be $10k, a (most likely mandatory) post track day tranny fluid flush will be $1800, and a new gearbox is $30k, then well, to be blunt i probably wouldnt have entertained the idea of buying this car. If you do everything by the book how much is a track day going to cost? Engine, tranny, diff fluids and god knows what else.. what $5k? I realise performance comes at a price, but come on, lightly modded Evo's (marginally slower on Sydney tracks, maybe 1 to 2 seconds) well they are cheap as chips to maintain in comparison.
  12. at those prices, it makes the warranty decision easy (ie. throw it in the bin)
  13. I dont think anyone is saying others are idiots for not servicing their own cars. However in the face of absurd dollars (yet to be confirmed) it would make sense to consider it, especially if you track the car regularly. It's not black and white. I can see why some would prefer to just have the dealer take care of it. For others the dealer option just isnt going to be practical.
  14. Exactly. There is a lot of this stuff you can do yourself. If you do regular track days you simply must know how to change all fluids, pads, rotors yourself (at a minimum). Much of the aftermarket stuff is significantly cheaper and (more) durable than OEM. It's just common sense. Of course, if you're just buying the car as a "daily" - servicing say once a year - then yeah, probably not worth bothering with it all. So it's not black and white... but there is a real case to do some of this stuff yourself, despite the warranty implications. I am not paying $6000 for two front rotors and pads, that's just f**king insane. I'll probably be swapping out a set of slotted rotors and pads in the first week anyway, at about half that cost! and they will be sure as hell much more suited to track work i can assure you.
  15. $300 for AUDI RS4 pads? err, maybe the labour to fit them... As for the R35 service costs, there is no way i am paying $250/hr for a Nissan mechanic to swap fluids and pads. I'll be doing all that crap myself, and i don't give a flying fark what they have to say about it. Front rotor/pad swap = $6000 hey?? That's about $3000 margin surely. I'll just put that extra $3000 into my own warranty fund and they can shove the warranty up their clacker. Assuming those prices are accurate.
  16. Update; my dealer tells me the following today: 1. Those which have ALREADY signed the ORIGINAL AGREEMENT will NOT have to sign the new one 2. There is a "requirement" for POST TRACK inspections only 3. First batch/ship is sheduled to dock in Brisbane March 20th, Sydney a week later, etc. Take it with a grain of salt guys.
  17. Has anyone got the wording of the new agreement or details on the inspections yet?
  18. I mostly agree. However I dont think the average person expects Nissan to sponsor their on-track fun HOWEVER some Nissan reps ARE saying the will have warranty for the track, others are saying this post track day inspection is merely a mechanism to keep regular (road only) warranty. Bah. This is a breakthrough vehicle in many respects which sets new benchmarks and costs half the price of the competition, it's going to bring new people to the segement and brand - as such they are all going to have various expectations. People are just confused. It doesnt make them wrong or stupid. Having said all that why would Nissan Australia care when the cars are basically selling themselves and their stock availability has been halved. To be frank if i were a dealer i wouldnt care, at least not now, all the cars are sold.
  19. Most people i know who do regular track days don't RELY on warranty to address things that need attention (from a track day perspective). Actually i dont know anyone who has. They might use warranty for a broken head unit or some dodgy trim. Or they might get a cracked rotor replaced (the first time they ask).. IF they are lucky. The point of this thread is to find out what the official Nissan policy is. Especially in regards to this "inspection" business. I think Nissan will see a few people walking away from their contracts, or at least refusing to sign these new agreements.
  20. Look, some have been told (by the dealer) there WILL be track warranty (i have) some have been told otherwise. That's the issue, we don't know what's going on. It looks like we'll be asked to sign more "agreements" at time of delivery. That's crap. Personally i dont expect (or even want) "track warranty" and i certainly am not about to have the car inspected before and after every track day. I've spent many tens of thousands on track days over the last two to three years (motor builds/maintenence, brake kits, suspension kits, many many sets of RE55's and Dunlops, you name it) - a lot of us do pay to play and know what it costs to 'track' a car. Do any other manufacturers stipulate pre and post track day inspections to keep warranty?
  21. I'm guessing due tot he production cut and price increase (in subsequent batches) there would probably be a few people ready to take the car instead, and they know it i guess. Don't like my chances.
  22. It's starting to seem like you need to forget about Nissan Warranty if you regularly track these cars. In that case you may as well not even bother getting them to service it. I also wonder what happens if we refuse to sign these new disclaimers.
  23. I've asked a few times but they couldnt tell me.
  24. Thanks for that Gibbo. OK, so they wont cover any mishaps on the track, not entirely surprising. But these additional inspections - to reinstate regluar warranty after a track day - well they can shove that up their clacker. That's just ridiculous.
  25. Thanks for the reply. I wonder with those initial Evo's (with "track support") - i wonder what that means? Would they cover a cracked rotor? Doubt it. What about a smashed CV or broken tailshaft etc.? I just dont see them covering these things - do these "warranties" cover track related wear or just faulty parts etc. I just have big doubts about it. Would like to know if others have been given the same information as me and possibly know underlying conditions and costs associated with these inspections. We've already had to sign the disclaimer, i wonder if there willbe another bit of similar paperwork before delivery.
