  1. It was not a bad read! Almost funny how they compared times against race-spec Porches, let alone V8SC's Would be cool to key a race-prepared R35 in the mix. So what is the consensus on the brake issue? Would good pads and fluid go some way into making it better? I suppose Bathurst would be pretty brutal, and they are street spec brakes after all. Would have liked to see a close up pic of the rotors and pads after that. I wont be able to afford a brake upgrade beyond new pads/fluid (maybe rotors) i need it to work on the track for three or four laps (supersprints).
  2. does anyone know the total number they are actually bringing into the country? originally it was to be about 200, would it now be closert o 100? I need to know for NSW CAMS event rules (where they need at least 200 imported/registered) for certain classes
  3. Looking to source a set of track rims for an R35, prefer 18" (eg. TE37) or 19" (eg. RE30) so i can run RE55's or R888's for example. New or used is fine. If you have or can source appropriate rims (correct/proven size and offsets) please PM me. thx.
  4. well that's true there could be something "special" going on with that car. Then again it's 3/10ths better from what we all expected (their prior results) - i think everyone just assumes it was going to be slower with the update, and yet it wasnt. I suppose we'll see a few others go out there soon and see what's what.
  5. Marek! it's Duncan here (from Supersprints - the red monaro) did you end up ordering an R35?
  6. I've been monitoring the USA forums, and they seem to be using CCW or Volk/Rays TE37 or RE30 rims for circuit work. Apparently the TE37 18x9.5+22 and 18x10.5+15 rears fit ok. This would possibly yield the option of using an 18" RE55 (i wonder if 295's would fit ok?). Otherwise the 19" RE30 with say a Toyo 19" R888 305 or similar? Any other ideas? Are there any decent 20" tyres avalable? I would prefer to have a dedicated track wheel/tyre because of a) better performance and b) to save weight and c) then use the factory rims/tyres as backup (at events) and for the street. I believe there is a total 40kg weight saving with the RE30 option (wheels and tyres) which is significant. I plan on going through a lot of tyres over the next 24 months (i would say 6 to 10 sets) so i dont want to pay $1000+ for a 20" tyre which has sub-standard performance vs say an RE55. Anyone have experience with an RE55 vs a R888? Don't forget the R35 is a heavy thing, so would be good to hear from people who have R888 experience in a heavy car. Any ideas? Who would be the best people to talk to (in Australia) about buying some rims mentioned above? thanks!
  7. hence my surprise Martin! - especially at the 11.3 "stocker record" personally i think it's quick enough, albeit with a 3000rpm launch.
  8. I know the GT-R isnt a 1/4 mile queen BUT - those following the launch control saga with the Nissan R35 may know that USA spec cars have had their launch control reprogrammed this week such that a) you CAN use launch control with VDC on and b) it will only launch at about 3000rpm now (vs 4800rpm or thereabouts before). The expected results : it would blunt the performance right? however it seems some guy has just set another stocker R35 record with the software update today. http://www.gtrblog.com/index.php/200...-quarte?blog=4 11.34@120mph is pretty amazing given this is a 100% stock car. I'm guessing the update involved a tad more than changing the launch rpm...
  9. well if it's anything like all the new cars i have bought, relatively minor bolt-on mods shouldnt be an issue. A big variable can be the relationship you have with the dealership & service people. R35 will be an unknown quantity i guess - hence your question/concern - with all the mass attention and paranoia with this car, not to mention the agreements we've signed. I dont see any way of knowing until a year or so down the track.
  10. Hmm, i was due for an April delivery yet i havent heard anything. Any of you guys ordered from Crawford Nissan (Sydney)?
  11. $146kUS - for both cars? If not, how much do R35's cost over there? You would think it's a write off.
  12. so how long does this overboost last, 80 seconds? i wonder how much power it adds, and can you keep pressing the button all around the Nordschleife, or is there a limit (to how much it can be used)
  13. If money was no object (big if!) and without having driven any of these cars i would probably pick a 997 GT3 RS. BUT.. you just can't buy a new TT/GT3/GT2 Porsche for $150k can you. Try $300k+ ... Unless you're happy to settle for a used 996 i guess. So it's a GTR for me.
  14. I find this hard to believe really (that some legal system would resolve any such issue) - on what legal basis would they challenge Nissan? At the end of the day they are just performance claims by a manufacturer - kind of hard to prove anything either way isnt it?
  15. i think one of the reasons the GT-R is so quick is because of the box, think about how many gear changes you would have, say at the nurburgring, (i think around 70) and how much quicker those paddle shifts are relative to manually changing. There would be a tenth or two advantage in every gearchange. It all adds up i reckon..
  16. LSX-438

    Quad Charged Gtr

looks a bit silly to me, so much added complexity or points of failure. I dont get it.
  17. I think most people understand that reading DTC's does not mean you understand how a car ticks. R35 experience will be a bit thin on the ground for a while.
  18. ok well it appears that same car has now broken it's transmission. So this will be very interesting to see what has broken, and how they go about fixing it / making it stronger.
  19. Does not the COBB accessPORT read and clear DTC's?
  20. If it's of any help the service manual is available online now, but I guess the real issue would be experience on the ground. How many cars are coming into australia next year? It's only something like 200 or 300 right?
  21. screw porsche, or whomever.. i take whatever is quicker around a race track. (provided i can spare the cashola!)
  22. Every week these things just get faster and faster 104mph mid-track! can you believe that? This is with relatively minor bolt-on mods http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=xh-0EDLc7VI&...read.php?t=2759 I reckon we'll see 9's out of these before too long, insane!
  23. another question would be: would you buy a 5 year old GT3 or 911T for about $150k, or a new r35?
  24. I dont think the aussie cars will have this feature - they just wont have a (180km/hr) limiter at all.
  25. FWIW my dealer says the contract price will not change on my R35. I guess we'll see.
