  1. with Brookvale i got number plate covers and two key rings (one metal and one leather) + a little GTR model in a box. No floor mats though, they are apparently coming soon.
  2. I ended up going with Suncorp too. They were $350 cheaper than Shannons, which was curious given that Suncorp now own Shannons.
  3. so back on topic, how many k's have you guys done, and who is going to be the first to launch their ADM R35?
  4. Wow that's interesting, thanks. You're saying LC2 is just powerbraking, are you sure? (sounds like it!)
  5. OK let me back pedal just a bit.. I think the dealer service / warranty model is probably ok if your R35 is primarily a road car; maybe one or two track days per year or less. In which case i hazard a guess those cars arent being abused to any great degree. Who knows, maybe that's the norm for most 35 owners at this stage of the game. So yeah, relying on the dealer/warranty thing could be appropriate. For others, doing regular events (heck i have two track days next week alone) i honestly don't see how you could follow the warranty requirements & procedures to the letter. I would lose my car for 4 days inside a week just doing the pre and post track day inspections (and don't forget there are only two GTR certified dealersips in NSW, distance is an issue too). Let alone the factory prices for various consumables. But more than that, the aftermarket options (in addition to being half the price) are just more appropriate for track work. eg. A slotted AP rotor is about $850AU and will easily outlast the cross drilled OEM rotor. Why would you pay 2x for something that is half as good? I regularly check most fluids/pads/rotors in addition to data logging for every track day i do - it's not helpful to assume such people are idiots and never check this stuff, they do. It's just depends on how you're using the car. I don't see there being a single 100% "correct" approach for everyone.
  6. If that happens, i'll buy a block from Nissan, which i'm entitled to do as an R35 owner. Can you imagine what Nissan would charge you for engine work after you've done 30 track days? You're not going to be covered under warranty regardless. What are the JDM guys supposed to do? The obvious:- find good people on the ground who probably have much more experience than all the AU nissan techs. Heck there are people buying ADM R35's only so they can buy parts for their fleet of R35's race cars, i'm not joking.
  7. That argument assumes people have NFI about the reasons behind the checkups, nor do them.

    Accessport

    Awesome. Please keep us posted.
  9. Reminds me of my chat with the service manager. They seem like pretty cool guys - but you can tell they have constraints to work within which (in this case anyway) i think they realise just arent workable nor affordable given the options emerging in the aftermarket. But they have a job to do regardless. I was basically told the tranny fluid swap will cost the best part of $2k, brakes $9k etc etc etc. Anyway, i dont think my car will ever see a Nissan workshop, not even for the 2000k checkup. I'll have a trusted shop do the regular servicing instead. Makes the whole warranty thing a non-issue for me i guess. I just can't afford to pay double the price and get inferior products.
  10. Q for those who have the car, any word on LC? I presume they all have LC2 as per the US spec cars (or any new car made from a few months ago i guess) i suppose nobody has launched their car yet? Maybe someone asked their dealer, anyone know for sure?

    Accessport

Hi guys Has anyone applied an AccessPORT flash tune to an Australian delivered R35 yet? Are there any aussie sellers of this product with the device in stock? (please PM me with details if so). I wonder if there are any ECU and/or calibration differences or issues with the AccessPORT and the aussie delivered cars, anyone know? ie. can any of us expect to buy an accessport from o/s and it will just work? Cheers
  12. I too have the Willall Midpipe and Tranny Fluid, thanks Martin. Hopefully we'll find time to whack them on soon!
  13. For anyone interested in a harness setup, it turns out the EVO 7~9 Sparco harness bar fits the R35.... About $650 here in Australia
  14. Do you sell the Cobb tuner itself and is it in stock? If so could you PM me a price? Cheers!
  15. I finally picked my R35 up today, wow what a day. Initial Impressions: Seats arent made for fatties like me, looks like i have to lose some weight! Not to bad but i am guessing made for Japanese bums. The rest of the interior is SCHMICK. Totally perfect and i have no complaints. Everything seems pretty well screwed together i must say. Personally, i dont care for all whizz bang telemetry stuff, maybe i will get into that later when bored City driving: This is NOT a car if you are looking for a luxo experience. The car feels EXTREMELY rigid and taut, and it tramlines quite a bit on crappy sydney roads, i'm not sure if that's due to alignment or the big tyres? The R35 is a bit of a gruff beast, with lots of whirs, clanks and clunking (ok i am exaggerating a bit, but it's not a quiet machine). Do i care? Not at all! This is a car for going fast around a circuit. It feels purpose built and there are compromises. Having said that, it IS a luxo beast compared to my 600hp monaro. The gearbox is suberb with virtually instant cog swaps. I am still getting a few k's on the thing before putting the boot right in, so i dont really know what it's like to drive in anger just yet... i can't wait. Oh, this thing gets NOTICED, no driving around in anonymous mode... it's not possible - people will pull up and start talking. Everywhere you go you just see huge cheesy grins! Anyway, so far quite happy and can't wait to get the thing out to Oran Park next week! Here are a couple of Pics, but they don't do the car justice at all. The car looks like the titanium colour in these pics, due to harsh light.
  16. Wow thanks for that Gibbo. I am picking mine up in a couple of hours
  17. Awesome handbrake! so what's your initial impression?
  18. very nice! congrats so i see they have holes in the front bar for the plates. hmm i was hoping they would have a smooth bar
  19. interesting to hear the R888's are on par if not slower than the stockies (dunlops?) makes me wonder if chasing after track rubber is worth the trouble anyway a set of these turned up for my R35 this week, i'll be heading out to OPGP next week to see how it goes
  20. Hehe! 19th at OPGP? Actually i dont have it in my possession just yet, but it's just a matter of a few days now. It's getting a $5000 car wash! (aka dealer delivery)
  21. Mine arrived today!
  22. Snowman, are the premium wheels the really black colour or the dark chrome?
  23. FWIW the Nissan dealership was organising insurance for their customers and my quote came out to be about $5.5k (i think through Allianz) whereas Shannons are at $2.1k - so worth shopping around guys.
  24. I need to keep my car within CAMS 2D specs for NSW club based Sprints, so mods will be relatively lightweight. 1. Tyres (295 RE55's all round) on 18" Enkei 18x10's 2. Midpipe 3. Willall tranny fluid and possibly cooler 4. Harness bar + harness 5. AP front rotors and uprated pads + fluid Unfortunately i need to run the factory tune on the circuit (2D rules). I might try the AccessPort for the street, strip and valet mode though.
  25. awesome! i was told today, that my car will be at the dealership this friday!
