  1. Gibbo, thus far been using RRR exclusively. Not sure if that's good or bad to be frank. Eastern Creek, Wakefield and Oran Park. very happy witht he car thus far, but i think i am still driving it like it's a RWD V8.

I'll send you a PM. FWIW, i havent switched off VDC, i've just put it in 'R' mode. I think i am running BP98, but to be frank it's been a few weeks since i've driven the car, and i cannot rememer. However, i doubt you will see significant variance from the mainstream 98 fuels. Could be something odd with yur car. We'll see.

How are you measuring your 0~100km/hr times? This morning i thought i would give it a crack in my ADM R35 (given my 2 year old woke me up at 4am! i was at a loose end) so i used my vbox/driftbox thingo, dunno if they are accurate for this sort of thing? Anyway first run i got a 3.8, and then a 3.7 - not sure i could easily go faster than this though, unless i am missing something. I did have a couple of runs where it seriously bogged down like you describe above. I think it is detecting wheelspin and retarding power (even when it was in 'R' mode, it can still happen). Also, have you tried launch mode? You should be seeing 3000rpm or thereabouts. If you are in Sydney i would be happy to show you how it's done in my car anyway.

Good stuff. Who is doing the work and are they only working on the UK cars?
  5. Hey guys I'm after some driving tips from GTR officionados.... I'm not the most naturally talented driver (far from it) and quite frankly i am used to driving around a severely overpowered RWD V8 coupe on the circuit. I now (attempt to) pilot an R35. It's a cracker car of course, but I think i'm leaving time on the table, underdriving the car. The problem? i need to condition myself to trust the magic of AWD, especially the R35 [i think].... Now in reviewing this footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smxFKOlF_tk One thing i've noticed; he's doing a kind of action where he initially jerks the steering wheel into a turn, then instantly corrects and drives through the turn. He seems to do this on about 50% of the turns. I've been led to believe the R35 (with its rear wheel bias) only intervenes where it REALLY needs to. Could this guy be inducing ESP to kick in and then using it to pull him faster through the turns, or am i imagining it? To be frank i've only seen the traction control light come on maybe 2 or 3 times on the circuit myself. Anyway, i'm interested in your thoughts & experience on driving the R35 (or any GTR really) and how you developed a technique to gain the most from the car?

not yet! not for ADM. Hopefully soon.
  7. Sounds like you are pretty unhappy with the car, that sucks. To be frank i just dont see your 0~100km/hr performance and leather concerns being "fixed". Probably best to cut your losses and more on to somethign else.
  8. Work out the tyre height thus: TyreHeight = (Width * Profile% * 2) + WheelHeight[mm] Therefore 245/35/19 = 245 * 0.35 * 2 + (19*25.4) = 654.1mm And 285/30/19 = 285 * 0.30 * 2 + (19*25.4) = 653.6mm Heights of these two tyres are within 0.07% which is well within tolerace.
  9. I understand where you are coming from, BUT if you are going to challenge Nissan AU, you will need a) Nissan AU published claimed performance times. Might be a silly question but do they exist?? And to be frank, after having done 5 track days since i picked the car up, the car is not really about 0~100 performance, there is just so much more to this car. I bought the car to get 911 turbo performance (at the circuit) and as far as i am concerned it does as advertised.
  10. The 19" R6 Hooiser setup looks good. I would definitely give it a go. Personally i can't use them because a) I sometimes need to drive to the track on the track rims/tyres, no way they are legal or safe in the wet really and b) those tyres are not approved by cams - so i cannot use them in the NSW sprints. They are basically a slick. Otherwise, i'm very keen to see how you go. I think it will be better than the 19" 888's but i am talking out of my arse really (never tried the 888's personally). Probably quicker than the 55's too yep.
  11. Personally i would go the 18" option over the 19" - not for looks mind you, just for track rubber cost and availability

ahh crap. any other options as of now? thanks for the info.

Martin, do you know if any (relatively standard) ADM R35's have tried the AccessPORT? We've booked a private day @ WSID for June 21, and i wouldnt mind trying this, even just a mailorder tune.

Good stuff. Are you getting a full custom tune, or an off-the-shelf cobb mail order thing?

has ANYONE used a Cobb AccessPort on their ADM car yet? experience, good or bad?
  16. Interesting, thanks. A friend of mine has a bunch of items in transit now (from tirerack) so we'll confirm what happens in his case, soon.
  17. If you import car parts generally you pay a 10% import "duty" - even from the USA with the free trade agreement. However, i dont think tyres are considered "car parts" - but i could be wrong - often am!
  18. Yes tirerack do ship to australia Shipping quote for four tyres is about $258US The dunlops are $384 and $424US for front and rears respectively So the price of an imported set of dunlops would be about: $258+($384*2)+($424*2) = $1874 Converted to AU $1874/0.78 = $2402 Then you will probably need to pay GST = $2402*1.1 = $2642 So doing it this way, it should cost no more than $660ea landed to your door. Email Adrian -at- tirerack.com if you want a shipping quote for your location though
  19. When i picked up my car, the dealer told me the tyres cost approx. $1300 for rears and $1200 for fronts (each) these are the bridgestones. Pretty exxy hey. Anyway i was talking to Donnellans (Victoria) the other day, and it looks like they will be getting them in soon, and the prices were about $400~$500 cheaper than those i've been quoted from Nissan (each). Just FYI. Has anyone seen supply of the bridgestones or dunlops in Australia yet? And, what prices have your dealer given you?
  20. Suncorp seem to have the keenest deals, a few members have found. Put them on your list.
  21. Well 14.5kw is about 4.5% - i've seen that sort of variation merely due to weather in some cars. I dont think it's that much really. Still, if the boost is clearly down, that is black and white i guess. thanks for posting the results, much appreciated!

Really keen to hear the before number for sure, but even keener to to hear about the gain

with respect i think people are referring to this: "After running the car on the dyno it is evident that the Oz Spec car is de-tuned compared to the Jap Spec version." Obviously the car has been on the dyno for a baseline run and the number was apparently something of a surprise. It was brought up and people are interested, where's the problem? If it can't be revealed that's ok, bit of a tease though!

so how much is the GT570 installed and tuned? what before numbers are you getting, or you just dont want to say?
