  1. pizza hut's got nothin' on those deep dishes noice!
  2. integrated satnav would be nice, hey maybe they will also integrate the speed limiter in that case too, so when you get to a race track it disengages... just like in japan, be careful what you wish for...
  3. I can sort of see where the author is coming from. I wouldnt buy an R35 as my daily driver, it is totally wasted on the street. And yes it's "boring" in that context - only because it is 110% competent. It's kind of like chatting to the most competent lawyer in the world.. great at what they do, but they dont do smalltalk with mere mortals too well... Having said that, the article completely brushes over what this car is about (which has NOTHING to do with getting jollies running around town, picking up your latte and such). He just doesnt understand what this car is primarily about. However the fact you CAN drive around town in relative silence and comfort is a spectacular achievement, given the capabilities of this car. I think the anticipation and momentum the 35 has generated makes people think it is the "be all and end all". As such they think it's going to be a hoot to drive in ANY situation. I agree there are cars (a fraction of a price) which are more engaging and fun on the street, but that's just not the point nor focus of this car. I love the fact that Nissan put a bullseye on the 911T and basically went after it, throwing a lot of time any money, and achieved their goal, whilst asking only half the price. That's what this car is, and stuff the street experience, that's for pussies anyway.
  4. Hi James! Looky what i found...
  5. thanks for the response guys.
  6. Does anyone know what the OEM Super DOT 4 "Special" fluid for R35 is? I need to carry fluid to the track, so thought i would pick up a bottle. The dealership want about $180 for a litre. Now i know i can just flush the whole system out with Motul 600 or something, but for the moment i just want to bleed the calipers after a track day. Anyone know?
  7. wha can i say Martin, i'm a big softie. For that initial set of factory rotors, were you running the stocker pads?
  8. Hi Martin. This round is was one "out lap" and 4 subsequent hot laps (so an extra lap each session this time, but WP is a short track i suppose) anyway i was seeing up to about 120* or thereabouts. Ambient temps at Wakefield Park are low though, probaby 10~15* cooler vs OP a couple of weeks back (it was 1* on the way down to Goulburn yesterday morning!) i havent put your midpipe nor oil in yet, but will as soon as i can and report findings. Surprisingly the stocker brakes+pads are holding up well... a lot of the USA blokes show pics of their rotors cracked badly, mine still seem ok? I've probably done about 40 laps of OPGP + 20 laps of WP. Maybe it's just the supersprint format, with only 10~20 laps per round, which is relatively easy going vs what you can get up to at an open day. I've done 100 laps at an open day at Wakefield before (in the munro).
  9. thanks Roy. here is a little youtube vid it's a little more 'clinical' vs the monaro granted, almost video game like. I reckon anyone can get 80% of what the R35 has to offer, the other 20% becomes the challange; and you are moving at a great rate of knots, so it's a tad scary. I am working on that 20%!
  10. Phew what a wild and whacky couple of days leading up to this round. First up, yesterday evening was set aside to remove the harness bar, so i can fit the 4x track wheels/tyres into the R35 for the trip to Goulburn (200km from Sydney). So i take the harness bar out, no probs, however putting the factory b-pillar belt points back together and SNAP! The top point thread dislocated from the b-pillar!! Oh fark! Without a functioning seatbelt i thought my round was gone. The only option was to fit the 4 point harness sitting in he wings. I'll spare you the details, except for the fact there was a couple of frantic calls to a mate... anyway several hours later drilling holes through the bottom of the R35 (after careful consultaion of the service manual) i had the harness installed, for a bedtime of 1:30AM and 4:30am start. Suffice to say i didnt get much sleep, head was swimming. The drive to Goulburn was hell - with the odd hellucination - driving through pea soup at 110km/hr.. Unfortunately i was not able to get any practice in with the new car at Wakefield before the round today. I think i would have found perhaps another 0.5sec (i wish) if i was able to get a decent amount of clean laps in (excuses excuses!). The first few sessions were a tad 'sloppy', running 1:07's and 1:06's - trying to figure out what gears work where and when. I was held up on those first few sessions too. Finally getting a few clean laps later in the day, i managed to post a 1:05.35 PB. About 2.6 seconds faster than my PB in the munro. Pretty happy with that, but i would have loved a 1:04.xx I think the car can do it, it should happen next time at Wakefield i reckon, if i can gorw some balls of steel. Anyway this means a NSW Sprint class + type record by some margin (perhaps 2 seconds or so,not sure). We'll see. I have a little video which i will post to youtube soon. Oh, and btw, how good was it cruisng home in leather clad comfort with the factory tyres back on. The car just behaved like the day NEVER happened. I am pretty amazed at this car.
  11. have fund guys, wish i could be there. lay down heaps of rubber for sunday SS round #3 Please post up your times and some pics/videos!!
  12. Dunno what you mean. If you are referring to the oil temps, all you have to do is monitor temps from inside the cabin. I can assure you all GTR drivers keep a close eye on them. 3 to 5 hard laps and a couple of cool downs isnt that difficult.
  13. What are these $100 use-once bolts? FWIW, i had the car up on a hoist at my local tyre place the other day. To get the alignment maxed out/checked. We pulled the underside covers off, and put them all back when done. I think the charge was $70... this stuff doesnt need to be expensive. You certainly should NOT be paying $200/hr for basic service work. all the fluids and consumables can probably be had much cheaper. As for the 130* thing, you can easily manage that. I am not saying you will never have to replace tranny fluid, but there has to be a happy medium.
  14. I picked up my harness bar (intended for Evo 7 - 9) and i was surprised that it all just bolted straight up! Pics: And here is one from the USA where a guy has used from extinguiser brackets (to keep the harness itself located in place) SUPPLIED BY UNIQUE AUTO SPORTS IN SEVEN HILLS SYDNEY (Thanks Tim).
  15. i think the whole wheel knurling thing is a crock. i run aftermarket wheels/tyres without this, as do many people much faster than i, never had an issue (at the track). And certainly will not be an issue for the street. Same as the whole nitrogen thing, i think it's a waste of time.
  16. GST and LCT arent really part of DD. FWIW, i paid $5k for DD. Sounds like a lot i guess, but considering most people ordered theirs without even sitting in one, it shows how much people anticipated the arrival, dealers didnt even have to "sell" them really.
  17. they look sensational. what sizes offsets, and how big are the tyres you're going with?
  18. I cant remember what they told me in respect to R mode. I wonder what it says in the manual? (if anything)
  19. LSX-438

    Oz Spec R35

I really would have liked the CF slot. On cars with it, can you download data from the car? (from say a track session, oil temps/pressures etc etc?)
  20. It did feel pretty quick once it got going, but to be frank i havent really done any agressive driving on the street otherwise, so i am not sure how it compares.
  21. ok i tried it again tonight and got it to work. I had it in RRR mode - i didnt try any other mode. Basically you have to mash the brake pedal then ABSOLUTELY SMASH to accelerator pedal (revs rise to 3000+rpm) then let off the brake pedal. It's obviously some sort of fly by wire throttle so it feels stupid smashing the loud pedal like that, but it's the only way it will work. If the revs only go to 2000 ~ 2500rpm, then you havent smashed the gas pedal quick enough. After you let go of the brake, it rolls forward, but there is an amount of lag (about 1 second) before the thing takes off.
  22. I think there was some confusion when the TCM was revised (the USA 'recall') where a bunch of media outlets initially reported that Launch Control was "no more". Turns out the same functionality (apparently) exists - albeit with launch RPM's not exceeding about 3000rpm or thereabouts now. I guess it's never been officially acknowledged as "launch control" anyway. Apparently the 4800rpm clutch dump with LC1 was intended to projectile your $150k car out of mud or snow...... (because that would really work)......
  23. i could be wrong but i dont think you need to turn VDC off now (with LC2)
  24. i tried it once but it didnt work. Revs only went to 2500rpm and the "launch" was lackluster. I dont think it worked. Someone mentioned somewhere that tranny temps needs to be within a certain range otherwise it doesnt work?
  25. I got a couple more pics today from last weekend,, sits pretty low through the turns.. the 285/30 RE55's would be 30mm lower than this tyre (295/35) so i dont think the 285's would work IMO..
