  1. Sounds like me in my last car, arms and elbow flying! And that was for a 1:20.x
  2. I've found the quickest laps in the 35 (for me) are those where i dont understeer/oversteer or need too many corrections. Plow into a turn too hot and need a decent correction - lap time is toasted. Probably because i am used to rwd (where instant reflex corrections were necessary; however it's probably the wrong thing to do with the R35) i think there must be a way to drive the 35 around aggressively, on the edge yet let it do its thing - use all of what the awd system has to offer. I just havent figured it out yet. Slowly deprogramming myself from my previous car (600hp munro).
  3. i am not sure there would be much of a difference bewteen the front and back in terms of accessibility, perhaps sit in the car and see? It could be the back is more accessible if you are using a harness. But I guess you could do the same thing for the front? BTW i found this adjustable one which might work? http://www.ogracing.com/catalog/2-Car/30-F...INGUISHER-MOUNT Dunno if it would fit on an R35 though. I'll be keen to see what you come up with, i need something too. A friend of mine came up with another idea (perhaps temporary given your requirements); buy some straps with metal clips from bunnings, sit the extinguisher mount in the crack between the passenger seat back and seat bottom, and thread the straps through the crack to the back seat rails (or under the seat somewhere) and strap it down there. It will then just sit in the pax seat, easily removeable. If you are looking for someone to make something that bolts onto the seat rails, i would look up an alloy welder / fabricator in your area?
  4. I was thinking of knocking up an alloy bar (with appropriate bends for clearance) which bolts onto the rear passenger seat floor bolts, such that the extinguisher sits in between the seat rails. How big an extinguisher do you want/need, 1kg? Should be easy to install/remove with no drilling etc.
  5. You can buy replacement AP (stocker sized) rotors for about $850 ea. and someone mentioned calipers are $1700 or thereabouts? (might be worth calling nissan to confirm). I wouldnt mind a spare set. Have a think and post up a price
  6. awesome! thanks for the pics. (can you tweak my time by about 1.5 seconds?) ha ha.

    Newbie

Hi Nick! what car did you previously have and what are your initial impressions of the R35? Pics!
  8. Those are just a graphic representation of lateral and longitudinal g forces. I am not sure of the scale though. Just looking at the logs, it seems to be around 1.3 g's max (lateral) on some of the turns.
  9. I use the driftbox/performance box data (high res GPS lap timer) which you can export to "trackvision" format. You then use trackvision software to synch up the video and data, trackvision then renders the video with the overlayed data. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. A little time consuming though.
  10. to be frank i am not sure i have optimal gears down pat (most likely not) plus i keep trying different things which doesn't help. But 5th for the straight yep, and experimenting with 4th leading up to the bridge. I have a bunch of driftbox data which i should probably use to derive the "perfect lap" and stick to that. I can't run a tune because of the class i am in (2D) - turbo cars aren't allowed to run an aftermarket computer or non-factory calibration
  11. Headed out for my 8th track day (in 3 months!) for Round #6 of the NSW sprints at Oran Park GP yesterday. Running in class 2D, mods on the car are: 1. Willall mid pipe 2. Willall trans fluid 3. AP Rotors (front) 4. Ferodo DS2500 pads 5. RE55 tyres Previous PB at OPGP was 1:17.2 and for most of the day the best i could manage was a 1:17.4 However on the final session i managed to nail a 1:16.9. I am sure the car would go quicker in the hands of a pro but i'm pretty happy to get a "16" finally. (even if it's a 16.90) The '35 performed faultlessly all day, as it has in the last 8 track days, I havent had a single issue with it yet. If only i could run a tune, those extra 60 awkw's would help! The Ferodo DS2500 pads were a bit of an experiment; and to be frank they didnt have the bite of the Carbotech XP12's (that a lot of the guys in the States use) however the DS2500's seem to be very close to the stocker pads in terms of street behaviour and track performance. Probably not the best for outright performance but a) cheap and b) comfy on the street. I think i will stick with them. Here is a clip of the 1:16.90 lap Currently running first in type and class (2D) and 3rd outright. next round is eastern creek in 3 weeks!
  12. I agree the Coupe 60 didnt look "production ready". I still love it, and wish they would have made a VE-based coupe nonetheless
  13. It really works with the whole two tone thing, nice.
  14. Remember the monaro concept? almost 100% the same as the production version. Granted the 427 Coupe was a lot more "out there" (i had a deposit on one at one stage) but most of those were not destined for the road anyway. It turned out to be too expensive to make as we all know. The Coupe 60 - yes i can see that would have been watered down a lot - as a road car - for sure. Don't be such a kill joy dude! Concepts are great. Perhaps a bit of fantasy but that's cool. FWIW if thy made the Coupe 60, it wouldnt have taken much to get one close to the concept, what was so radical on it anyway?
  15. And i know the guy who sold it! (my ex boss) dont believe everything you read in newspapers.

    Accessport

FWIW I know of at least one other ADM car that was about the same, 265awkw or thereabouts.
  17. Interesting argument but what a buzz kill dude.. What do you think has kept GTR/R35 enthusiasts keen for all these past years - through the concept iterations? And i am told that particular HSV sold for $790k, fwiw.

    Accessport

wow, that's insane. 260 to 320kw or thereabouts. How soon will you have the AFR optimised tune ready?
  19. How about this item? http://www.justjap.com/store/product.php?p...=328&page=1
  20. I've scratched the bottom of my front lower (lip) spoiler, and i am sure lots more scratches to come! Out of interest, do you have a part number for the lip spoiler and where can you get them (direct from Nissan?)
  21. How many cars in the country, 200? And how many would have changed hands in the second hand market at this stage, maybe a handful - maybe. If any. Too early for accurate prices on second hand market. It's anyone's guess, but i would say they will depreciate about $2k ~ $2.5k per month, say 50% over 3 years, like any other car. You'll be waiting a while before you can get one for $96k

    R35 Camber

With toe, Wholesale Suspension set a very agressive setup for my last track day, however the car felt quite nervous on bumps and turns, so i have asked them to dial it back half way (which they did yesterday) and i will test out at Oran Park this week. Do you know what factory tow settings are?

    R35 Camber

See "Wholesale suspension" in Sydney (Penrith) - ask for Matt or Luke. Tell them Duncan sent you and you are potentially interested in the same R35 upper arm offset bush setup. Assuming you want more camber that is. These guys look after my alignments etc as well, and of course they can do all that for you too. They have good hoists and equipment etc. that deal with the peculiarities of the R35 too.
  24. That's a pity they are so expensive. I actually liked the stocker pad/rotor combination, better than i thought it would be anyway, even for the circuit i found them fine. Since i've used aftermarket pads the stocker rotors have started to crack though. Higher friction & more heat, to be expected i suppose. Thanks for the prices guys, hopefully the price for the stocker parts will come down in future.
  25. I picked up some Ferodo DS2500 pads for the front end yesterday, $495. Also got some new AP rotors for $825ea too, curved slots. I think this combo (Ferodo pads + AP rotors) will be very close to stocker setup, with the discs certainly better, but we'll see. Out of interest, has anyone got a price from Nissan on stocker rotors or pads yet? I assume it will be in the order of 2x the cost? - i am not even going to ask!
