  1. You MUST own a car continuosly for 12 months without leaving Japan for long periods of time.
  2. The car has Nismo arms on the rears. Thanks for the replies but Im still at a lost. Is there a definate test to see if its the shocks or not 1st? By test, I mean one that doesnt require removing them and replacing them with another.
  3. I would suggest the Toyoko Inn at Shinagawa. The hotel is clean and new. Kinda like a Novotel/Ibis but without the extras. Its around 7,000 a night and about 3 mins from Shinagawa Station which is a major station. I stayed there during my TAS visit in 2000 and it was good. From Shinagawa, its a 10 minute train ride to all the spots travellers visit. http://www.toyoko-inn.com/hotel/00029/
  4. Congrats all the way from Tokyo Andrew. All the best. You need a JDM baby seat in the back of that 34 now.
  5. Duncan, What exactly do you mean when you say a big difference? In handling or sound? How much are all the bushes alone? My 33 is anoying me as I keep hearing constant knocks even as I drive down a smooth road. It sounds like the rear GTR wing is loose or something in the boot but I cant find it. Some say its the shocks but they were rebuild not too long ago and they are Ohlins. Its pissing me off so much that I feel like driving it off a cliff! Someone help with the solution.
  6. I know how it feels to be confused on which model to get. Depends on what you what to do with it. Personally, Ive owned both and if I had to choose again, I would have the S15. Good luck with your purchase.
  7. Where is everyone staying? I would suggest staying near Tokyo and not near the TAS venue as there isnt anything there after dark. Anyone with Press Pass Day tickets?
  8. FOR THE LAST FARKING TIME, IM NOT MARRIED. Not that its any of your business but simply to have you well informed. NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FARK WHAT YOU OR I DO, who anyone dates, where anyone lives or what coffee we drink..... this is a skyline forum. Talk about Skylines and talk about the topic on this thread. END OF THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES ADAM.. so STFU ALREADY!! __________________________________________________________________________ Sleeper_et, Here is a link that will inform you about changing your licence over. Its the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) site. You will need to go to them to get your licence translated 1st. It cost 3,000 and takes about 10 minutes if you do it in the big cities. After this, you need to go to your local Licence Registration Office and follow the steps on the page. Just disregards stages (3) & (4) because you have an Australian Licence. JAF Licence Site
  9. Yes No No and again No 1 out of 4 ..... As always, misinformed arent you Adam. I have a 3 year Visa from the degree I have. When I left I was under the impression I needed a different degree but for what Im doing, a BA is good enough. As for my personal life, I dont think this is the right place to be discussing it, but if you want to tell the boyz about yours, feel free! Got just an ordinary job... we cant all be a Lecturer or was it Professor?? LOL
  10. As Laurance has stated, modified cars are left alone here. Ive been pulled over for small offences too, ie. blue plate lights. Generally they have better things to do. However if they catch you with a group of cars and its a special campaign to stop modified cars, you will get done. This is very rare tho. From my experience, I had no problems except with my dealer when I needed work done. For instance, they would not accept my car with tinting on the front windows as its illegal here. Had to remove it and get it put on a couple of times. An international drivers licence is fine but its only technically allowed up to a year in JP. Changing over for Australians is so easy and cheap that you might as well get it done. Newer cars dont really cost more for shaken, but if its really new, you have a longer period between inspections.
  11. Prior to owning a car, you will need: 1.Japanese Drivers Licence 2.Incan (Official Seal) 3.Incan Shome sho (Seal Registration paperwork) 3 copies 4.Car Park (within 2km of registered home) you need to have an agreement for at least 3 months paid up - 20,000-50,000p/m depending. I pay 40,000. 5.Parking Certificate (this is applied for with Items 2 & 3 at the police station prior to owning the car) Cant remember cost After all the above, you can buy the car and bring the paperwork to get the registration or Shaken Shome sho (Car Registration Cert) As far as cost, presuming it has almost none or little Shaken left . All the other cost will depend on your car and where you live.. 1.Shaken - around 110,000-150,000 depending 2.Consumption tax 3.Motor vehicle tax 4.Motor vehicle aquiring tax (the 3 taxes could be around 150,000 depending on the car) Congratulations, now you have a registered car and a parking area for it. On top of the montly rent, high fuel cost (around $15 perlitre) you will have to pay another tax for car ownership to your local city office every year. So calculating based from my situation, I spend around $900 a month on just owning the car. This doesnt include any $100 parking fines I sometimes get! All this and its not even my only transportation method... but my scooter cost much less! As for where to buy, I would stick to a dealer personally. But if you have time, try the auctions. Yahoo Auction is not a place to buy a car really. Just to get info. Hope this helps.
  12. Hi guys, Looking at changing the bushes on my R33. What would it cost to change all the rear suspension bushes to new ones? Will this have any benefits? For example, stop knocks and road noise. Pls take a couple of minutes and post your experiences or opinions. Thanks.
  13. For those who are interested.... Here, the GTR is only available at what they call Nissan High Performance Centres. This has nothing to do with the Red or Blue Stage Dealers. The car as you know goes on sale from Dec 6th. First deliveries are on Dec 10th, with test drives (test runs as the are called here) from the same day. I might go for one in that week when I start my end of year vacation and update.
  14. Marketing or perhaps as funkymoney has said, quick release. The new GTR is being marketed as a car ANYONE can drive.. ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. Regardless of how great it is, I for one was not used to seeing the auto gear lever. Was never in a GTR and is still something Im not happy with. This new DR6 DCT sounds great, but Im more for a manual. Out of curiousity, how about everyone else.. If you could choose, which would you have?
  15. Exactly!! Kinda like Apple with their products.... the Iphone :laughing-smiley-014:
  16. Good point there Sam! Exactly my thoughts. That happens for every product. He was clear that a year after the current one is released, a manual V-Spec will be introduced around the 10 million mark. Remembering, this is from someone from Nissan to his current previous/customer. Im inclined to think he would give a better answer. Again, Im not here to say there will be or wont be one... I dont really care either way, but trying to ask YOUR questions from Tokyo. Btw Adam, dont know why you keep mentioning Ginza Nissan. there is no Nissan Dealership in Ginza. Only a showroom.
  17. Actually not really a scoop, just an update on some questions floating around atm about the GTR. Spoke to my dealer today about the GTR. The following info is what I was told. Its not 100% definate, but take it as you will. Whether you choose to believe it is up to you. The guy is from Tokyo Prince Nissan and someone I have dealt with inregards to my personal car. So he knows Im not just some gaijin off the street asking 20 questions. After speaking to him about a different matter, I asked the following questions and got the following reply: *These are almost word for word so pls excuse the broken English* Me: I have question about new GTR, now only auto. No manual? He: No... Ken-san. .One year before (meant after) release date. V spec model. Me: Honto? (Really), why you say? He: Yes, yes, dealer meeting information. Me: Manual Mission? He: Yes. Me: Ok, mmm No V Spec.... Spec V?? He: No no, V Spec.. V for Victory. Me: How much? He: ahh.... mmm... (japanese) maybe about 10 million. Not confirmation. Me: ah ok.. Will have bayside blue? He: I dont know... sorry. So basicly, a manual scheduled to release a year after Dec 07 around 10million Yen but not sure about blue. Again, Im just passing on what I asked for those who wanted to know.. Dont shoot the messenger. Hope this helps alittle to the rumours.
  18. Done! Now can someone bring back the days of REZZ the guru!
  19. :laughing-smiley-014: Sorry to you guys who dont know this dude..., if you did, you would be laughing too... I know I shouldnt be bothered with this BS King but its like ignoring someone who is blatantly bullshitting to mates... In August: You claimed "a friend" wanted to buy and export a CLK and asked members for advice http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t181903.html In September: You changed the story and said it was you and your wife who were buying a '04 CLK 320' again asking for advice and wasting ppls time. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/t184079.html One month later, your story changes to Buying a 2008 GTR. All this coming from a guy who was renting a room from a mate and couldnt cover the rent at times, drove a beat up car full of beer cans and worked at a servo where part time. So you can see how the BS ball keeps rolling and its starting to annoy me. I know you wanna help people out and i see that you always try to answer members post about Japan. But would you PLEASE stop the BS, cut the drama and give real facts?? You dont require lies or to exagerrate about yourself to get the respect you so much want in your life.. oh well.. as you were, please continue... Rant Over.
  20. Lol... typical Adam, all you need to do is say "wow.. youre GOD and knows it all" and he will be happy. Back to the question, will there be a manual?... I highly doubt it based on Nissans history. They change minor things, but not something as major as the transmission. Having said that, even if they did, I doubt it would be smart for them to say - Yes, a V-spec, Manual or better one will be released! After all, they need to sell the current form. You can ask the President of Nissan, noone is going to release such foolish information and ruin car sales atm. But for the sake of asking, I will ask my dealer when he calls me tomorrow and let you guys know.
  21. Looking at the number plate, Id say its not a normal street registered car. Probably dealer/maker exec test car.
  22. Just got back from my nearest dealer... Nissan in Tokyo told me they expect some where from a March to August delivery and that there was a long waiting list to cover. So expect delivery of around June/July. Heres a red one for some, especially you REZZ Also check out the optional gunmetal rim and rubber!! Interesting to see if anyone can actually sit in the back, almost impossible with a normal sized adult sitting at the front. Also look at the plastic/carpet like guards liner.
