Hmm, hard to fathom really.

Well looks like SBR are stepping up to the plate. All three cars in the top ten in P5 with Cheeseburger fastest. Whincup put his thing in the wall trying to keep up. So the 888 lads will be busy before qualifying this arvo.

Cams Approved Fire Extinguisher Bracket

So can the seat travel fully forward for when you forget to take the extinguisher out prior to letting you mechanic fix your car. -
Sway Bars And Strut Braces
djr81 replied to bull_11's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Strut braces and adjustable shock absorbers are probably two of the most over rated after market suspension "upgrades" ever sold. -
Well back in the olden days you had to try pretty hard to make the race on four stops, ie 32 lap stints. You could fatten up the fuel but it meant an extra stop. Economy was line ball. The tyres would just about hang in for those 32 laps but not if you pushed to hard too early or the set up was wrong. So the balance was pretty good between tyre life & fuel consumption. The change to ethanol means you cant go anywhere near 32 laps anymore. So looking after your tyres is much less of a concern - to the detriment the racing - it is supposed to be an endurance race after all. Hang about until the last safety car & go like fk is the strategy now. In other words it both makes it more like a sprint race and removes a lot of strategy from the day. Not a problem if you are shtfaced on the lounge but less fun for anyone wanting to dig a little deeper. The other vaguely interesting thing is on the tyres. There will be the usual crew crying because they chunked their front right/rears. But while everything from the weather to your neighbours cat gets blamed it is mostly them using low cold set pressure (19lbs I read somewhere) and going out too hard when they are cold.
-
Hmm not enough tyres but also two ddifferent types and nowhere near enough of either. There is apparently a big difference between those marked PV and others marked ZD. What is the weather going to do come Sunday? Actually having tyre compounds to choose from would help make it interesting again. Bit like it was before the ethanol fuel ruined it.

Missed call? You must be with Vodafone. Less money spent on 888 more on coverage would be nice.
-
Yeah maybe, but if they want some hack who couldnt drive out of sight on a dark night it is not like I have anything on this weekend. Also looks like a shtfight with regard to wet tyres. Some are not as equal as others.

Has done for years. Nothing new this year.

Not sure I would characterise it as a cash grab. F1 being relentlessly commercial I cant see how Bernie (who whomever is in charge of the commercial stuff this week) could really allow the BBC not to honour their contract and/or not take a pineapple just because the arse has fallen out of their economy. I am sure there will be alot of pressure from the (mostly Pommie) teams to get the thing back to FTA as soon as possible. Maybe this way the feed we will be getting might actually match the commentary. You know, just for shits and giggles.

Hard to see a Ford winning. SBR havent gone well since the EL, DJR were hopeless at PI & FPR have been a joke at Bathurst ever since they started. Yes they are. Nice to see some variety in the fields too. Why? I mean other than hoping he doesnt fk up soemone elses race who really cares if some random weather man finishes last or second last?
-
Not that it should prevent them being blamed but it is not actually News Corps fault. The BBC cant afford to honour the contract they signed for the races. They stuffed it up, not Rupert.

Forget that, where are my electrically assisted turbo chargers?

Cams Approved Fire Extinguisher Bracket
djr81 replied to DattoP510's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Um, I thought they were all the same seeing as 33 seats fit the 32's etc etc. Do the brackets definatelyn ot fit the 32's or is it just that they have not been tried as yet? -
Touring Car Champion Rounds, Anyone?
djr81 replied to DarkGT-R's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
They do (Or atleast did) exist as highlight packages. 1990 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1990-VHS.aspx 1991 http://www.dukevideo.com/Duke-Archive-DVD/Car/Touring-and-Saloon/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1991-Duke-Archive-DVD.aspx 1992 http://www.dukevideo.com/Duke-Archive-DVD/Car/Touring-and-Saloon/Australian-Touring-Car-Review-1992-Duke-Archive-DVD.aspx Bathurst 1990 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1990-VHS.aspx 1991 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1991-VHS.aspx 1992 http://www.dukevideo.com/Cars/VHS/Circuit-Racing/Touring-Car/International/Bathurst-1000-1992-VHS.aspx Also there is a bloke who advertises full length Bathurst videos (from 1980 on) in either Auto Action or Motorsport news. -
The trailing edge of the inside pad is where they get the hottest - and heat means wear. So that explains why the inner pads wear faster than the outer pads. Why you have a side to side difference is anyones guess.

1. ECU Installed Rear drivers side Fuel pump related stuff 2. 2 x ECU's installed underneath rear parcel shelf. I'm assuming I have an HICAS & an Altessa ECU. But what's the third for?? ALTESSA's are usually found on the back of shtbox Commodores. HICAS on drivers side, amplifier for radio antenna in the middle, ATTESSA on the passengers side. Another quick question, If my HICAS has been removed, so I need to keep the steering wheel sensor on the column? Or is it linked into the ALTESSA system also. The sensor is not linked to the ATTESSA system - look at the schematic on p CH66 on the manual.

Well you may be right but as a spectator it is much better than the other approach (eg at Ferrari with Schumacher) when the No 2 is subservient in every way. I wouldnt call Williams a B grade team this year either. I dont reckon they are that good.
-
Well it may fit. Just check it as best you can before you start ripping parts off the car. I had mine fixed locally and installed. That invovled cutting off the inlet pipe & rewelding it in the correct position. As far as I can remember PWR "warranty" does not include freight and as they are in Queensland and I am not it would have taken weeks to get them to fix it. Ignoring the fact that I no longer had any confidence in their ability to get anything right. Had a bunch of other things done at that time so the car got a retune anyway. You shouldnt need one. Can you post a pic? As an aside is there anyobne who does a decent 3" thick tube & fin intercooler for an R32?
-
Does the outlet look like the one below? The top intercooler is for an R32 GTR from PWR. The bottom is an R32 GTR intercooler. One of these things is not like the other. My question is this: Have the muppets at PWR fixed their drawings so their cooler actually fit now?

The turbos are not sequential. They work off three cylinders each at the same time. There is a mountain of threads on turbo choice & the mods you need to do to go with them. Try a search.

Yeah you can take that comment about ACDC to the bank. Chart below may help also. Cam timing graph.pdf
-
Numbers shown are open, closed and cam centreline. ATDC = after top. BTDC = before top. BBDC = before bottom. ABDC = After bottom. ACDC = Shite band much loved by bogans. Stock cams Intake 240 degrees 7 BTDC 53 ABDC 113 degrees Exhaust 236 degrees 63 BBDC 7 BTDC 118 degrees Tomei Poncam A Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 252 degrees 61 BBDC 11 ATDC 115 degrees Tomei Poncam B Intake 260 degrees 20 BTDC 60 ABDC 110 degrees Exhaust 260 degrees 65 BBDC 15 ATDC 115 degrees You can work out the overlap from there - basically the stockers dont overlap and the B's have 35 degrees of it. Having had them installed then removed I can confirm the Poncam B's take a massive hit on cyl;inder filling at idle.

You have to differentiate between tyres/rims that contribute to what some perceive as looks and those that function well. The 20" HSV rims do neither IMHO. Bit like the cars themselves. As someone who uses 17" the reason is not because I believe them to be better than their 18" counterparts. They arent. The reason is that they are cheaper - about $500 a set cheaper for R compounds. R compounds, relative to road tyres, have very stiff sidewalls. Tyres with too low air pressure on the other hand, dont. A drag tyre is the extreme example. The sidewals are designed to give and thereby provide good traction. Oh and for what it is worth that if you have a proper rim/tyre package the rim is lighter than the tyre.

Yes they were occasionally referred to as such. In the Holden tradition of grey, red & blue motors which were painted, um, grey, red & blue. Paint the thing whatever colour you like. The advantages of black are that it wont change colour when it gets hot & wont show oil/dirt/other crap so much. The advantage of hot pink is, in the main, that it matches your handbag. Mine does anyway.
