  1. Yeah I've busted my getrag twice now. But it's not the gearbox - its the driver. But the real sucky thing about the getrag is if you do break it you will be working for the rest of your life paying off the debt to fix it. Very very sucky indeed. So I am currently driving around with one of the worlds few R34's with a 5 speed getrag.... cause I don't have a 2nd gear synchro.
  2. tom_g = I will be able to sign your CAMS licence on the day no worries. It preferable if you have a credit card number on the form however. I will be signing/collecting a bunch of licence forms and sending them all off for people. But if you need to sign up for the Club also then cash for that is fine.
  3. I think everyone should just pull over and let Seton win. Poor bastard. Everyone else will be all excited about this round whilst poor Glen sits there and thinks "Damn I hate this race".
  4. I'd say start at 40psi and we'll take it from there. Plenty of guys will have gauges / pumps. If you are happy with that then leave it - if you feel that grip is a bit funny you can experiement. But for your first time out I'd say start at 40psi and that should do you just fine.
  5. BTW - for all you arm-chair racers out there - V8 Supercars 2 came out on PS2 yesterday. I picked up a copy and have to say at an inital glance its 10 times better than the first one. Was very happy to find that not long into the game I got to drive an R34 GTR V Spec at Bathurst. But anyways.... the Australian tracks are much better. Sandown was pretty good - except that the ripple strips are flat (Sandown they are like gutters in some places) and you can take the high speed chicane at the back far too easy. But still damn good to get some lap practise and work on those lines.
  6. Don't think this means you get out of throwing a BBQ Geoff. You promised free steaks and god damn it I want you to deliver on that promise!
  7. I live in Patterson Lakes - and work in Braeside.
  8. Oh yeah - oops.
  9. Guys, I am getting inundated with PM's from people asking me about whether their entries for the Maserati Day have been recieved. The answer is: I DON"T KNOW! Usually we get sent something the week before the event - thats if we get sent anything at all. Not all clubs send out a confirmation of entry for track events. If you are really concerned - or if you are someone reading this that wants to know if there are still spots available (the other question I am being PM'd about) then my advice is to contact the Event Director as listed on the Sup Regs. Jim Reark Phone: 9515 0311 or jimreark@maserati.org.au
  10. No sticker for you then!
  11. Original post updated with meeting times and place. There are no current pre-meets arranged but due to its starting location people may wish to set up some.
  12. The Team Wang stickers have been made. They look pretty darn good!
  13. It should also be noted that late this afternoon James (Vic President) was contacted by The Age to give a statement on behalf of the "Skyline Community". One of the reasons we formed the Club was to promote driver awareness on the power and danger that the cars we love have. Again we ask that you guys be responsible and safe out there.
  14. wtf? Whats happened Troy? Not your car I hope!
  15. I live down that way too. Track tracks - Sandown - 20 mins Calder - 1hr Phillip Island - 1.5hrs Winton - 2.5hrs Lots of track days on and plenty of us attend them. Unless you are talking about that straight line crap. Skylines Australia Vic also meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Whitehorse Tavern in Hawthorn. Make sure you drop in for a beer.
  16. Anyone know where I might be able to find some of these locally? I was told the name of a place out Bayswater way - but I can't remember the name of it.

    RE55 warning.

:chairshot: :headshot: :whip: :slap: :chop: :tomato: Ok - in perspective - doing it to make sure you hard earned cash doesnt get wasted is one thing. Doing it when you haven't even been out on the track before and you are worried about those precious seconds when you don't even know how to drive yet is a whole different story. From memory that quote came from a thread like the second point - and wasn't necessarily talking about people using semi's.
  18. The funny thing is I don't actually know of anyone who owns a GTR thats in IT! Manufacturing Publishing Accountant Pizza Shop Owner Dentist Engineers Mechanics Tow Truck Driver I could be wrong - I may know someone from here that owns a GTR thats in IT and don't realise it - but those who I know what they do aren't in IT! lol
  19. Why would you pay $25 for a sausage? I am going to convince Mr Golgo to bring the BBQ down and we can have a SAU BBQ of our own.
  20. Ash and I are doing the scouting for the cruise this weekend. So I will have the final details of departure points and time early next week.

    RE55 warning.

Guy's - just a quick piece of advice. I know a bunch of you out there are thinking about / already have gone and bought some of the Bridgestone RE55's. There is no doubt that they are an awesome track tyre BUT if your car isn't set up properly they will be a very expensive investment. I noticed that my front tyres were wearing unevenly (outsides seemed to be near bald but insides seemed pretty good) But the rears were ok. So last night I was in the process of rotating my fronts to rears - and when the fronts came off I noticed I had 4 or 5 large chunks of tyre missing (the size of a 50c coin) on each tyre and I was down to the canvas in these chunks. So those tyres are farked. They have done 1 day of the Dutton Rally and 4 track days. If my front suspension / castor / camber was set-up properly I wouldn't have this problem and my $2K worth of tyres would have lasted a lot longer than 2 months. If you are going to get yourselves a set of these tyres - then spend the money and get your suspension set-up properly or else you are just throwing money down the drain.
  22. Ok - firstly - 2nd gear itself is OK. Its (for want of a better term) the synchro thats buggered. So I can put it into 2nd gear - as long as the car is going under 60km/hr. Anything above that and forget it. So I can go first, then change to 2nd - as long as I dont put many rev's on it. And once in gear its perfect - its just getting it into gear that's the hard part. However - if I launch the car like I did in the super sprint then yeah I have to go 1st - 3rd. My time at Phillip Island isnt that impressive given no 2nd - as with the ratio's in the 6 speed there is only one corner I'd usually use 2nd in anyways. And even that corner - when I used 3rd I'm not totally off boost so it wasn't too bad at all. Sandown is slightly different. The final corner I usually use 2nd but I can do it in 3rd and keep on boost, just, as well. This means I lose some top end speed on the main straight though. Dandenong corner however will be very very sucky to do in 3rd. Meh - I'll just make do with what I've got and do my best! And hope to god no other gears go! LOL
  23. Because after 2 laps your pedal will go to the floor with the standard fluid - especially at Sandown.
  24. The castrol srf is $120 per bottle - and you will get 2 complete fluid changes from one bottle.
  25. Greg - I have been geeting a few calls / PM's asking about availability for this event still. Could you please update us? Thanks.
