  1. Well done to Handbags and Dan - great result and you guys sure will be tough to beat in Rookie this year. I got up on Sunday and had a small play in the Tour with Matt Close and his newly prepped TT-RS. It was basically his first run in the car and we had a great little comparison test between him and my R35. It sure is super quick through the twisties but struggles a little in the real fast stuff. Still from what I could see and how he felt afterwards I reckon he'll be right up there in April again. He's done a great job on the car too - I bet in the next 12 months after he runs at TT they become the new EVO. Another mate of mine (and another Matt) also did the Tour in his completely stock TT-RS and our other 2 mates in their mildly modded EVO 9's were no match for him up the hill.
  2. Duncan - I'm not actually convinced the Advan 050 Medium is a medium in the Dunlop sense if that makes sense. Guys are getting great wear rates out of them so I reckon they are just called a Medium in comparison to the A048's - which were HARD. It's probably why that compund comes in Medium, Soft and Super Soft rather than Hard, Medium and Soft. I'm going to give the A050's a crack next as I the reports I've had are that they are harder / longer lasting than the Dunlop R compounds despite being called a medium. Because given the medium is the hardest compound the tyre gets made in what is the reference point? It's all just marketing rather than a base figure probably.
  3. I have sets of both. I run 265's on both sets. I can't tell the difference from inside the car. But then with the TE37's - I can't even SEE the difference! LOL Infact the only way I can tell which ones are which is by having different colored valve caps and stems on each set of rims.
  4. Tony Q's engine problems in the R35 looks now to be a minor issue in comparison to his Mosler issues! PS - he has too many nice toys.
  5. Will see if the Mrs plans to go away for Easter. If not I will try and make it.
  6. Oh - and Drunken - the Mountain Motorsports have ANOTHER one in Oct if you can't make Lake Mountain. Mt Baw Baw is set to run for the first time this year. Fingers crossed my life is back to normal by then and I will try to make it as a shake down before Targa High Country.
  7. It's my wife's car. They are the best car for $$$ vehicle on the market I think. They are absolutely brilliant - and the DSG is it's highlight. I tell anyone who listens to get one!
  8. Don't hurry back. I was looking forwards to having the fastest track going R34 in Vic again! LOL
  9. And no Stephan GP this year despite USF1 not running. I would have liked Jaques back.
  10. Yeah you can definitely get a CAN interface for the R35. You can't do it easily for the R34 (when using a Power FC) which is why I haven't bothered. I've seen somewhere an awesome on screen dash for the VBox with an R35 using the actual R35 Clutster with the gear selection etc all in place.
  11. Here are a couple of my vids using it. Targa Wrest Point - ATC Lang Lang - But here is a comparison to the old POV to give you an understanding what I'm talking about with camera angles Targa Tas - Spa -
  12. I've started using one - although I haven't remotely looked at the datalogging side of things yet. I mostly got one to have the data-overlay on the video. Video wise it works brilliantly - although I'd prefer it if the camera's were a wider aspect like my old POV was.
  13. Haha - don't look at me. All I did was rent them the software! Another well known "performance centre" did all of the tuning.
  14. Who's engine failed? I know TQ just swapped his Haltech over to a Cobb in his car (which is actually Klarks car) last week as they rented my tuning software to do it.
  15. No worries. (But now I have to go and get myself a set - they look great! LOL).
  16. I think if you did all of that you'd be very glad that you did.
  17. I've set myself a reminder for the Monday before to see if I can make it. I wouldn't mind breaking the R35's track duck and I reckon it would go alright at Calder. See how fast I can do down the straight!
  18. Good - IF ITS DRY. If there is any sign of wet then Calder isn't so good for Newbies (or even not so Newbies) as the VHT turns the straight into a slip'n'slide. But it's not overly complicated so its ok for Newbies. just make sure your brakes are ok as there are some big stops at Calder.
  19. Yeah my fastest lap at Calder was from the day Blaise was running around still in his WRX. I think that might even have been Jacks first track day and if I remember correctly he was lapping around the 1.15 mark. You got better mate! and I think Chris' time in the Volvo might still be better than anything he's managed in his GTR there.
  20. I have a room booked at Strahan if anyone needs one!
  21. Well Helen has nothing to do with the Lake Mountain Tour! LOL Try Tim here instead [email protected]
  22. Well done mate. Be proud. I've got a perfectly good fully built low km long motor laying around if you are interested Dunc? I took my old motor out just before targa wrest point and put in a new one as we didnt have time to identify the problem (turns out it was just a cracked head so my old motor which had really just done Targa rookie and a couple of other little things is sitting around covered in plastic). Oh - and I'm also planning to make High Country. I should hopefully have time back on my side by then!
  23. Thank's for the offers guys but I'm hoping the powers that be will let me defer for a year Still waiting to hear back on the verdict with that though.
  24. Lowth is doing the tour in his new toy again with a couple of other guys as well. I might try and do the same if I can make it up for any time at all that weekend. But I know I'm going to have a consultant over from The Netherlands during that time and at 950Euro/Day I'm going to be needing to get my monies worth for his time!
