Does anyone know the best grounding cables to get (here in Australia?). I'd imagine ordering from the US would be the best option.
-
$5k USD for that supercharger kit. Not bad... good to know we can benefit from some competition in the US on these things.

Hey guys, Just wondering what the stock standard V36 security system is like. As you may/may not know it already has the 'Intelligent Key' proximity entry and push button start. I understand it also has an immobiliser but don't know how many or where they are. I'm getting mine complied soon and have the option of adding additional security and am wondering what to add (i.e. just alarm and sensors?). Obviously I only want it if it's compatible with the existing system. David.

Where can you get one of these? Are they a branded Jap thing?
-
Nice video. Should be good priced coming out of the US. I also like the stock engine cover look too. I'd imagine it shouldn't be too hard finding someone to fit and tune here. Wonder what it'll do on 98 fuel... Also wonder if it'll improve responsiveness or just top end?
-
From a Unichip workshop: 'We have done several 370z cars. Unichip fitted and tuned makes about another 10-12 kw at the tyres. Better down low torque as well. Also a bit better on fuel. Exhausts have done little for the cars other than better sound. Aps have stopped production of all performance components.'
-
Just read up about Unichip vs something like a Greddy eManage. I think I'd prefer not to splice my ECU loom and go a GReddy... not to mention they are cheaper.
-
OK have just been doing plenty of looking around at what APS offers (http://www.airpowersystems.com/350z/japanese_import_article/aps_twin_turbo_3.htm) They put me in touch with High Torque performance in Doveton Vic, who will supply, fit and custom tune a Unichip for $1550. Takes 1 day, will add 10-15% of power. So that's 245kw to 270kw / 280kw. Better fuel economy too apparently.
-
Hey Kam-80 - do you know a good resource for finding out more info on 370z tuning in Australia?
-
Yep that's my Black R34 GTT. It'll be going up for sale once I find the V36... I'm going to miss her... Yeah I think it's poor bang for buck modding an NA. Another 20rwkw would be nice though, to bring it to say 275kw at the flywheel.
-
Wow some guy did a 13.835 @ 101.89 1/4 mile. That's what the 300kw HSV's do. Not bad for a stock automatic. Maybe I won't need a power upgrade in a hurry?
-
Wow that is a great website. Thank you so much!
-
The only thing I've found so far is this... http://sport.hypertech.com/Infiniti.aspx +6hp for $450 USD through fuel tuning. (i.e. Please help!). I read on myG37.com that Blitz has a supercharger kit available... can't find it though on the Blitz website.

Just found an S with this feature too. I guess it could be on all models.

Hey guys, Am looking at getting a V36 370GT SP in the next few months. I've test driven one of these and the power isn't bad at 245kw, although my R34 puts out about 300kw and that's what I'm used to now. Being a NA engine, what type of mods can I do to give these things a bit more power (without putting on a turbo or supercharger?). I mean an exhaust is going to do stuff all to an NA car right? I've only modded turbos for the last 10 years, I have no ideas on an NA. Also, does anyone know of any successfully turboed/supercharged V36's in Australia? There are some good value kits out there from Japan and the US, but I don't want to be the guinea cop. David.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the side mirror camera? My best guess is it's an option across all models - but I could be wrong.
-
The Type P also features heated seats and the driver seat electronically moves full back / full forward to allow passengers into the rear seats. Note Type SP = Type S + Type P. Type S also has 'half leather / half tweed' trim which is quite nice. There is also a base model (i.e. it's not Type anything, just a V36 Skyline 370GT).

BTW I found out that the 1st 'series 2' ADMs will hit our shores in Feb 2010. These models will include the GPS and are around $3k more.
-
2 seaters? Can I ask your source on this? Just test drove an ADM... boy... FTG Nissan - 183k drive away Premium Gun Metal. Funny thing is if you accidentially switch your traction control off (which would be VERY easy to do, it's right near the suspension change knob) then your warranty is void. So much for local support.

I'd say it would, although obviously the difference getting smaller and smaller after each year. Would the average person pay an extra $2k for an Aussie delivered R32 GTR over a JDM one? I'd say probably.
-
No, not extra colours, what I meant by 'more choice' was that if I buy locally (either new or 2nd hand) it will be more likely that I can choose the colour I want, compared to importing a JDM. Hmmm... yeah I wonder what the ACCC would have to say about this. Yes, that's a huge one I forgot to write down. I'd have to ship my JDM to Japan if I blow a piston that would be a pain, but probably still worth the cost saving. True. Will be interesting to see if they'll maintain their stance once the ADMs vastly outnumber the JDMs. I mean maintaining a list of which VINs were sold in Australia just to deny service to the 1% that are JDM is a pretty costly exercise with no real benefit (I mean, it's not going to make them any money, which all business are driven by - all it would do is prevent people bringing in JDMs and make them more money 'in the future', but it's only a strange rare case that these JDMs were allowed in anyway and would be unlikely to be repeated). Awesome. Thanks for the list. I'd have to say though, for $500 you can get a pretty darn good Clarion head unit with all those features. Obviously it wouldn't sit nice in the dash though, although I haven't seen one up close. For me the real reason is the savings. Correct. In fact I'm first in line with Prestige. Note - that $122k price you have to add LCT which is over $10k, plus $5k stamp duty (in Vic) + rego etc before it's on the road. You're at around the $140k mark. Hence why I'm considering also just waiting a year and get an ADM for that kind of money.
-
Hey guys, Trying to weigh up the pros and cons of each option. ADM Local Nissan dealer support on parts Immediate delivery Easier insurance More expensive to buy initially - suffers greater depreciation Easier to finance / novate More choice of colours JDM Possible higher annual insurance x years of ownership Saving on ADM price Waiting for import process Extra features (?) - voice recognition (does that even work here?) 'Black' spec option / additional Titanium colour (which I don't like anyway) Nissan Australia denying access to parts (although last time I needed them I ordered parts direct from Nissan Japan on my R34). A few Japanese labeled buttons Did someone say auto-wipers and auto-headlights? Obviously this isn't a complete list. What else am I missing? Still learning about the R35. David.

As a few of you have PM'd me I thought I'd update you with what I ended up doing just to help out. Shannons - no go, no garage. Famous - $2,289, forget that obviously. Just cars - based on $22k agreed value the quote was pretty good at around the $1,200 mark. I called to increase the coverage to $26k which they did and this increased the insurance up to $1,415. I figured my most likely claim would be an attempted theft. I've got an insane car security system and it's foiled a group of professional thieves on one occasion (a large job where several hi-performance imports were stolen). JC has a basic excess of $500 (which can be increased to reduce your premium) and had an additional theft excess of $1000. I asked them in the event of an attempted theft what would I have to pay. They said that an unsuccessful theft attempt will still attract the additional theft excess. I disagreed with this, they double checked with their manager and confirmed this is JC's position. I think that's crazy - so if someone breaks into your car, yet doesn't steal it, it's still considered 'theft'? LSV just call it damage to vehicle. The funny thing was if someone broke a window and actually stole a bunch of stuff, that's not considered 'theft' but 'vandalism' as personal items are not covered anyway. Anyway, given that I'd be up for at least $1500 excess with JC in an attempted theft I decided to renew with LSV. Even though it was jacked up another $400 on last year was only $100 more than the next best (JC) and I get the rental car in the event of theft with LSV which is a nice option. It was a close choice, JC's do seem to really cater for imports well, have knowlegde of all the mods and we kind and courteous on the phone. If I get another price hike with LSV maybe I'll go with them next year. LSV explained that there's been a large increase in the amount of claims for hi performance imports and that's why the premium is so high. Good luck everyone - DRIVE SAFE (ask for a driving course for your next birthday - loads of fun and can save your life) and SECURE YOUR CAR, that's the best way to keep premiums down for all of us.

The hunt continues... I've just applied to Famous for a quote. Can't say I like the sound of Just Cars low market values and mega excesses though... They're premium came out nicely at $1250 or so though. Market value of my 1999 R34 GTT through LSV is $26k (down from $30k)

I think choice of repairer is very important, especially for Skylines. I don't think Just Car have this?
