Hey i was ondering if anyone would be able to share some information on the gtr plenums and the greddy plenums in terms of flow characteristics and efficiency etc. I got the gtr plenum which we are adapting to my RB25 head. In long term chasing a max of 450hp at the wheels, im not really concerned about the gtr plenums efficiency as there ar many gtrs that make nice numbers still using original plenums so im assuming there good. Any advantages going greddy over gtr?
power gains arent great unless u have the back up items to match. Sure its a bonus that u have this "Larger" turbo but without a front mount cooler i wouldbe winding boost down to 12-13psi, i made that mistake and im rebuilding my engine, do urself a favour, before going insearch of power, go insearch of back up systems to suit(ie computer, fuel pump etc)
i heard a screamer on a mates 180sx SR20 and it sounds rather ugly, leaks at idle so sounds abit wierd and once getting up it, it is amazing the noise that is produced, when racing him i cant even hear my own car. Seems to produce abit more top end, but i cant see there being any advantages over a split dump setup
asking if the gudgeon pin/connecting bolt is standard, seems like alot of force for the stock pin to without. a got gtr rods with my ross forgies and had to ge tthe little end machined to fit the bigger gudgeon.
hehe, seems a little strange, im with everyone else, lean is no good, buy bigger pump, fresh plugsa, colder heat range of plugs, reset ur ecu after doing so and see how u go matey. goodluck
i still havent heard back from gcg about the option yet, its been about 5 days now. Also the place where my motor is, he didnt ring me back or wouldnt answer his phone so i couldnt go in and continue to assemble the engine. spewin
true......funnily enough i didnt think of that, i had always thought about buyin something abit bigger and making do with that power for awhile till i could afford to go big. But the highflow will make me happy for along time considering my car only made 160rwkw beforehand. I think even with 215kws thats a big jump. i just want to drive like a grandma for awhile, i lost my licence and cant wait to get it back, wont be racing everywhere this time
from what ive read, the hiflow option would be perfect for u at the moment, comes back all in one piece as if u hadnt sent it away, its bigger internally and is basically brand new. My choice over others.
i find this really interesting about honing the exhaust manifold, still not 100% on what this means and what can actually be done. I guess it means cleaning up the casting marks and dags, cant really open the runner coz then the gasket wont watch it. Any info?
Ok now i, like alot of other people am in a confused state. I am unsure of what turbo i should get. Although i have a good idea so i am after opinions from u all. I have an R33 gtst which i am looking at sending my stock turbo away as it has blown an oil seal, sending it to GCG where they will hi flow+rebuild it and then put it on. My cars dead at the moment but im in the middle of the build. Current items are:
RB26 Crank & Rods
Forgies
1.6mm hks headgasket
head porting
256 cams
hks twin plate
engine fully balanced
N1 oil pump
power fc
front mount intercooler
gtr intake plenum and fuel rail, injectors etc
I spent as much as i could on the motor to get it to a strongish state and now i have come up short on buying a big turbo setup. So what i am after is a turbo that has good driveabilty, power there when i need it and a basic upgrade FOR NOW. This is why i think the gcg hiflow option is a good choice, what do others think???????????
i think i will be going hi flow on my 33 gtst. Seems too good for what im after at the moment. Im not after big power, i gotta run my motor in for aslong as i can so a smaller more driveable turbo would be nice but one that also has abit of punch when needed. Seriously considering.
