Hey there what are you doing with your hicas setup? The reason i ask is I have a noisy hicas motor and if your willing to separate the motor off the unit I might be interested. The length doesn't have to do with it being for manual or auto does it ? Or is it designed for both? cheers

I wish i had of found that in my search before i typed all mine up. Mine didn't look any where as bad as that but but its not good. My friend is talking about getting two other struts and drilling the top skins off and swapping them with mine. Talk about a piss off, I hate rust

Gday all Took the stag in to get some very miner rust fixed on both my strut towers today and it has turned out a lot worse then i had expected. It started off with a couple of paint bubbles that you could tell that it was rust under there so i scrapped away the body sealer to find that it was rusty, didn't look that bad so i got a friend that is a panel beater to have a go at fixing it and it has turned out to be pretty bad. There are no holes and the tower it self isn't rusty but the support panel on top is pretty bad. On further inspection you could see why they have the rust problem. In the top of the wheel arch where the support panel is connected to the tower the join isn't sealed so water can find its way in between the two panels but because its sealed on the other side (under the bonnet) the water just sits there. eg we poured a lot of rust killer down in between the two panels (engine bay side) and when we where putting the wheels back on we could see the rust converter running out from the join in the wheel arch. not to sure what our next plan of attack is but i thought i might just put this out there cheers

i cant picture the piece you talking about, is it a stagea only part if so thats a pretty stupid thing to do as there arent that many around, wouldn't be to hard to track them down and then let mr basball bat take care or the rest. hope you get it sorted and i hope it wont be that hard to fix

not to sure what the go is, normally i would be leaning towards the km's wind back, but the condition of the seats, steering wheel, pedals and everything else makes me think other wise. as for the auto to manual conversion, yeah maybe, anything is possible!!!

so i did a few little test today and found that when i disconnect one of the wires on the hicas the 4wds light comes on, So something has been swapped over some where along the line.

yep identical to mine except where you hicas is my s looking light is and after the 4wd i have ABS

yeah sorry hicas motor, when i pull up it ticks for a couple of seconds, the other day i pulled up and it kept on going so i jumped out and the hicas motor was the only thing vibrating. (black wiper motor looking thing hanging off the diff) sounds like i might have a auto cluster, I checked all the screws around the cluster and they all look as if they have never been touched so i thought i would put the question out there. No there isn't a 50/50 lock button which is a shame, not sure what i would use it for but would be cool!!

yeah i defiantly have hicas under there. The hicas pump is getting pretty noisy so i am taking it to the mechanic on Friday to see what our options are. I would rather keep the hicas if at all possible. As far as the lights are concerned I have a 4wd with the little s in the middle on the far left then i have a 4wd light next to that they all light up but i am starting to think that where my 4wd,s light is it should be hicas. ehter that or the hicas light is there but in a different spot and not lighting up due to a major problem which according to the manual does happen. Or i have a auto cluster with manual surrounds to cover the gear lights which worries me!!!

Gday all Just need to check on what warning lights people have, mainly on a manual series 2, On mine i don't have a hicas light but i do have a 4wd light with the little s in the middle and as far as I am aware the 4wd light is only on auto's? The light is in the bottom left of the cluster. I am having a few issues with my hicas and the 4wd (s) light has come on a few times and it has got me thinking (confused) So if anyone else has a manual and a 4wd (s) light (good) if not WTF cheers

We had a fair old dig at it and it seems to be just the top skin/layer lifting up off the actual tower. No bog being used, he seems to think only a small job

you could be onto something there, when i first got mine i took it for a lash out country and came to where the tarmac stops and turns to gravel, thought i would try it out on the gravel rd and noticed the same thing ( only went about 50m). The torque gauge was way up near the 50 mark and i noticed a slight pull in the steering wheel, Mine has only done 50,000km so i doubt it if any thing is worn out

I tried the apexi in the air box thing, didn't really work out to well. You need to cut the front right lower hand corner off so the pod will fit, but then the pod hits on one of the inter cooler pipes causing the whole thing to sit different so the snorkel doesn't line up any more, If you had a fmic it would probably work better. I am still using the base but thinking i might make a new top and modify so that the snorkel lines up.

Those stupid f**k asses Sorry to hear of your dramas. I used to own a gts1 and was always worried about leaving my car in town at night for that same reason, I hope you get it sorted out!!

Remembering the old stag has 207kw and weighs 1700kg I wouldn't be to surprised that a 300kw car that probably weighs half the amount got over you The answer to your question is CASH and lots of it other wise you are just going to do damage to something ( probably not the answer you wanted to hear)

get a friend or do it your self, cost a fortune and there is no way i would trust some shipping guy that probably gets paid stuff all and drives a shitty HQ ute to drive my car. I had a blast flying over and picking my car up and sailing back. Make time and do it your self
