Generally true, but not quiet that simple. To modify a GT to reach 1000HP, and keep it on the road legally, you'll probably need an engineers report. This is where the law goes "grey" and even senior staff at VR have trouble explaining the legalities of it because you now have a legal document stating that the car is no longer in the factory form. The other thing to remember is that VR provide the rules, the police enforce them. How the police interpret the law can also come into play. Reasons for having such a law make sence but in its current form and how its enforced is :bs!:

Review: Hankook Ventus Sport K104
riggaP replied to riggaP's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
For the money I'm not sure anything could come close. The rears where $280 and fronts where $250. I had a K104 and a Mich Pilot Sport side by side in the tyre shop and the ratings were the same. The Hankook's wear rating was actually better (280 vs 220). They wanted $480 for the fronts and $530 for the rears. I certainly could see a reason for $200 odd per corner. -

Review: Hankook Ventus Sport K104
riggaP posted a topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hi all, I have recently put a new set of rims on my car and opted for a set of Hankook Ventus Sport K104 tyres. I would like to share my happiness with you all I have put 255/35ZR18 94Y XL on the rear and 235/40ZR18 93Y XL on the front. General Features *These tyres are made from a silica compound that is renowned for high levels of grip. * Y rating for speeds up to 300km/h * Extra Loaded * AA Traction rating * A Heat rating * 280 Wear rating * EU stamp of approval * Max load of 670kg @ 50psi * Plies - Tread: 2 steel + 1 rayon + 1 nylon - Sidewall: 1 rayon Brief History I don’t really have much to compare the Hankooks to as my previous tyres were Jap spec Bridgestone Regno GR-5000 in 205/55R16 89V and they're the only tyre I've ever had on. What I can say is that my car has 153rwkw and had absolutely no problems spinning those Bridgestones. Stalling up to about 2250rpm was enough to get them spinning and applying any more than about 60% throttle on boost in 1st gear sees the G forces back right off. This continued into second gear. Lots of revs going into 2nd and a heavy right foot once the clutch is engaged would see the arse end flick out (which was kinda fun ). Last time at the track I got them to chirp while changing into 4th at about 155km/h. Hankook Performance They SHIT on my old Bridgestones. I know, just reading the sizes makes that kinda obvious, however at first they were actually worse. The manufacturing process uses various oils/lubricants and these are still on the tyre you put them on. The guy at the tyre shop suggested that they be "scrubbed in" for the first 100-200km to allow these chemicals to "cook off". I found that it’s closer to 500-600km before they come good. *General Comfort: These tyres are great to cruise on. At +100km/h the car feels much more stable, steering feels more responsive (most probably due to the fact that there is 16cm more rubber on the road), and aren’t all that much louder. *Standing Start: I can now comfortably launch around 3000rpm and only encounter minor chirp. I can then flatten the foot and no trace of wheel slip can be felt or heard. Stalling up to about 4000 they will spin but I'm confident that I can make them stick at this rpm with a bit more practice. I'm confident that my 60' times will come down to sub 2 sec. I've found they need some heat in them for better launches. *Handling: This is where these tyres shine. The turn in stability is terrific and very reassuring. On the SAU-VIC cruise last weekend we encountered some nice twisty sections of road. There were corners posted for 80km/h and felt confident in excess of 100km (sorry, this is a public forum). The car has never been so stable when entering/exiting corners either. With the Crapstones the car "wobbled" the whole way thru the corner and could lose it very easy without proper throttle management. The Hankooks just seem to want more. Stable entry into a corner and you can just feed more revs until it straightens up, then flatten the pedal for the exit. Nothing short of awesome! So there you have it. I'm very happy with them. If you have any questions just ask -
Much of this has already been covered but... The words "Roil", "gold", "Neways" do not appear anywhere in this document. So why is it relevant? I'm begining to wonder if we are even speaking the same language. Why the fu(k would you have me search for "Motorup, Prolong, Duralube whatever they are" when we are talking about Roil Gold? The search term "Roil" returned 3 results that did not relate to this product. The search term "Roil Gold" returned 568 results (gold is evidently a popular topic), and the term "Neways" returned zip, zero, zilch, nothing! I'm still not seeing any proof. What is wrong with letting these people give it a go? What do you have to lose by having a stranger's engine component fail?

A stockish answer to your question: 1st gear is good to get some whiplash happening but it usually ends in wheel spin when pushed even a fraction too hard. 2nd is where the fun begins, putting you back in your seat and preparing for 3rd. Once you hit 3rd watching the needle shoot from 100 to 150 odd is awesome! Past that, 4th slows down a bit but still pulls hard beyond what can be read off the stock speedo.... then you know you're moving The most powerful gear is 1st hence the ease of wheelspin. I feel the power most in 2nd then 3rd. 2nd is my fav gear, esp thru the twisties What car were you comparing to?

Can you post a link with some sort of proof?

~10rwkw is sweet! Got me thinking about getting one...
-
I've got a bleeder on my car @ 13psi. Its been on 13psi for about 6 months now and I've never had a problem. It was also proven on a dyno that my $150 bleeder holds boost better than an AVC-R. Before upping the boost its probably a good idea to get the fuel pump checked coz you'll need more juice to avoid detonation...
-
I can only imagine how many I would've got had I kept off boost I had about 1/2 a tank and 275km up until the winery... then the paced picked up...
-
How was everyones fuel consumption? I'm gonna fill up this arvo. I got 475km to this tank since last Thursday till now. I'm pretty impressed considering the cruise...
-
OUCH!! I thought the dozen odd stone chips were bad...

You coulda opend a can o whoop ass with a proper launch :uh-huh:

 You can register any car in your name after the age of 16, but that doesn’t mean you can legally drive it on public roads. P platers are getting performance cars. No list or law is ever going to prevent that. You as a p plater are living proof. They might not be wiping themselves out but they're certainly wiping the cars out (checked your insurance premium lately?) I have worked for the licensing dept at Vicroads (gladly no longer) and can say that R33 GTS25ts are 100% P plate restricted. Wether the coppers enforce the rule is a completely different story. There is no "list" anymore (altho every car originally on the list is still P plate restricted). The list was phased out in 2000 to make way for the power to weight ratio and the capacity to weight ratio. IMHO reasons for having such a law are valid, however it needs some serious attention. Everything in this post relates to Victoria only. I have nfi how it works in other states...
