  1. Just went through tunnel. No idea what you're talking about! My passenger wasn't on drugs either and he didn't see anything?
  2. Just about to check silvia forums, but would anybody happen to have an exhaust for a CA18 kicking about, from a 1990 s13. Would be great. Also some s13 4 stud wheels would be great.
  3. Oh, and are you after an aftermarket turbo, or a stock one?
  4. Just do it late enough you can literally stop at one end, and then hammer it. If you've got a reasonably linear accelleration curve you can be doing 160 before your speeding, by any average measure=D Plus, it'll sound awesome.
  5. Very curious. My friends love doing tunnel runs, it'd be nice to know that you could go through mildly over 80k's in order to get things sounding nice.
  6. I wouldn't know about Exedy in particular, but my experience so far has been bad with organic clutches. Earlier this year, driving sedately at 60 on the way home from work running a max of 174rwhp mine slipped and quickly died. I'm looking to crack 300rwkW in a few weeks, in the same scenario as you and I'm running an RPM ceramic at the moment, the heaviest they make and I'm very happy so far. Although I'd like to have gone exedy/Jim Berry I just picked this one up because my girlfriend's parents supply 'em and it was cheap.
  7. Look for a site from a shop called NZKW [http://www.nzkw.com/] they make rails that fit most aftermarket seats for load of models man. I got them to make me up rails for my brides, and they arrived literally 3-4 days after I ordered them and fit really well. Plus the dude's who run it are pretty good to buy stuff from, I accidentally dicked 'em around for a while with payment but they were fine. Couldn't reccommend them more man.
  8. Just how did they find your flamethrower kit? You must be doing it wrong, mine's pretty undetectable y'know? Kinda like those special undetectable radar detectors, only more.
  9. Indeed I haven't! I'll check that out though. Sounds like a feature car for Hot4's though =P
  10. Hilarious thread! I've noticed exactly the same thing, except I've never payed this much attention to it. After the "some cool mod you guys do..." bit I've decided that was the funniest post I've read nearly all year dude =]
  11. I tell you now, you would have to have absolutely no contact with the real world via sight, touch, sound, or even smell, not to look in my engine bay and not notice my 3076.... Just don't get caught, and if you do, keep all your old stuff, roll over the pits on giraffe suspension and everything as stock as possible and have done with it.
  12. Used to get pulled over and drugs tested almost every weekend last year. Long hair didn't help that =P Even without driving like a fool, still got followed home a few times when police saw me. But yeah, no driving like a fool and you'll be fine. Never had trouble at an antilag cruise though.
  13. While you're there on friday, tell 'em to hurry up with my car! Sick of walkin' =P Nice looking car though man.
  14. I used to get pulled over and drugs tested without fail every time I drove my car at night, but that's largely stopped now. Had a friend who lasted 8 hours after buying his dead stock 33 before he got the disco lights treatment.
  15. Seriously, don't know where you guys are getting ripped off for $30 filters?! Picked one up for precisely (note how accurate I'm being here) $16.95 and installed it in the dark in the carpark where my other one seemed to have died. OP this should be in between easy and mind-bogglingly easy, depending on how much stuff you've got in your engine bay cluttering it up.
  16. L platers should be listening to their instructor...so they're never really put in a situation where they can misjudge a T-Junction and cut off a cop car. L Platers arent full qualified drivers so yes, some slack should be expected, hut one you have your license, Ps or not, you should know how to drive. ^ +1
  17. ^ +3 Half the time you don't even need to be polite about sexily asking Uncle Ben for parts. Still entirely convinced they just make up the prices with whatever they feel like (which is brilliant, always cheap).
  18. Of course, just imagine how easy it'd be to go over bumps! You'd never have to drive around a speed hump again. Although, my bet is you probably would have more trouble with that...
  19. You've obviously never had the joy of watching European horse drifting then!
  20. cheers Martin. Yeah that's pretty much the gist of it, the other side to the coin with turbo's is that (as I understand it) they're self refferencing. Because you've got the turbine wheel spun by exhaust gasses, the more gas that's coming out your exhaust, the faster you can suck in air. So I imagine the reason huge turbo's are laggy is because it'll take ages with minimal airflow to build up sufficient boost pressure. This would also explain why when you see the psi readings on dyno sheets, they get really increasingly more steep, because it'd be a complicated differential equation relating the inlet speed to the exhaust, but it's easy to see that the more air you've already got, the more air you're going to get. EDIT: Used the wrong word somewhere =P
  21. Hey man, basically I'm about to run a 3076 on my car in two or so weeks so I can pass on to you the information I've gathered. BTW what do you do at uni? PSI, is a pressure reading [pounds per square inch], a measure defined as the average kinetic energy of the gas in a certain volume, or in a more useful description the force that a gas/fluid exerts on the walls of a chamber. Pressure to an extent is irrespective of how much gas there actually is, since if you have REALLY hot gas, it'll have a massive pressure. This is why bottles of coke get really hard if you heat them up without opening the lid. Remember that since gas is easily compressible you're trying to think about the mass of gas that's going through the turbo, since the amount of work, and thus power you'll be able to extract is reliant on the gas releasing it's energy when you ignite it. More gas = more energy => more power. For any given situation you equate this with P*V=m*R*T, where P=pressure, V=volume, m=mass, R=universal gas constant [for mass I think this is 0.287 but you may also see it as 8.315 if you're talking about the number of moles of a gas], and T=temperature [you have to measure this in degrees Kelvin, which are just degrees centegrade + 273.15]. So if you had a turbo at an arbitrary size '1' that was at a certain pressure, it'd have a volume say 'v1'. If you had a turbo at size '2' where the size 2 turbo was twice as big as size 1 [i.e v2=2*v1], and the pressure was the same in both of them, it'd mean that the bigger turbo essentially had twice as much air in it, to maintain the same pressure. Remember that since gas is so compressible ^ ^ This is just year 12 physics stuff really. For my turbo upgrade I've gotten a 3076 and I've gotten an external gate. I've chosen a Tial 44mm, since Tial have a really good rep, and the one consistent piece of advice is "don't gimp out and buy a cheap gate" since if they go, you can possibly overboost, damage your turbo, and run too high a pressure inside your engine to possibly have a happy time in there. The upside to external gates is that apparently they control boost a lot better. Downside is that they're expensive [my Tial second hand is $450] and give you more shiney stuff for inspector plod to find in your engine bay. Another downside is that you'll also have to get a new exhaust manifold. For my exhaust manifold I've gone 6Boost, since they're pretty much infallible, come with a lifetime warranty against cracks [these get VERY hot] and it's a serious enough piece of equipment that when you tell people at the pub/cruises they're going to take you seriously and not laugh at you [always bad]. 6Boost manifolds cost 1200-1300 though =\ Lots of money. I'm taking mine to a workshop in about two weeks to have all this go on, and running a china fmic and an ecu tuners tell me I'll hit anywhere up to 370rwhp with everything else stock. From what I hear this is pretty much regarded as the ideal solution for roughly 300rwkw out of an rb25. YARGHHH I AM A WALL OF TEXT. Hope that helped =]
  22. I do actually. I think for some reason it's still called the Mt Lawley Jazz Cellar, but I could very well be wrong. That is the right address though, I checked earlier. Gotta get there before 6 usually to get a table, and it's usually still just open on friday nights.
