  1. i have only been in a R33 GTR and I cant recall it being so 'like a jack russell humping your leg' type of car and never settling. When the R33 was off boost it was fine and wasnt revving all over the shop. Unless the R34 is a completely different thing, it may be some have been a bit over the top in describing its power delivery. i have a feeling a modified gtr is a bit like a highly modified rex, in that off boost its a dog and has very little character, but is plenty fun when boost hits. The M3s are still expensive and would be comparable to a late model modifed r34
  2. A mate and I will be doing the ride. It'll be our forst time. Training mainly around bobbin head and akuna bay- plenty of hills. Congratulations on your efforst to raise the money towards a crippling neuromuscular dz.
  3. how would a similarly powered RB26 compare? or would it take a far greater modified R34 GTR to equal the new r35?
  4. Powerplay imprort have very low km R34s which are for sale for more than the R35. I guess they see the R35 not affecting the market too greatly.
  5. just curious, does the wife like the r34 ? Does the exhaust noise disturbing the neighbours, the harsh ride, and just the plain look of the car cause a change in her facial expression? Would she be very glad if you traded it in for something she likes
  6. i dont think they have a useable back seat. I can see even the r34 as being impractical- why have I become so practical in my 30s

  8. I read the other post on the R36, it does sound very nice. the only reason I am even considering the ford is that it appears they have built an awesome car. I think a car that can accelerate ingear as fast as the ford would still put a grin on my face and still be practical as you mentioned. the wife drives a vw touareg and the build quality, interior and so on is top notch, so I will definitely have a look at one in the next few weeks.
  9. it seems the turbo fords can be power modded as easy as a gtr and for less cost. Std they seem to be doing low 13s at 180km/hr down the 1/4.
  10. taking the emotion out of the equation the FG F6 is definitely the better car for my purposes. Ive always wanted a r34 but realistically it sounds like the novelty would wear off as it has with the rex which I use as a daily. Your right about the tuning of these cars. On ford forums they have dynoed the F6 stock at 283rwkw and with only the boost turned up and some tuning it went up to 313rwkw. So with an exhaust and so on the potential sounds even better than a gtr.
  11. OK so it sounds like the gtr is not worth driving daily due to gearbox, 'jack russell' type engine, and being too low. These things I wasn't aware of as I never had issues when I had my R33gtst, and I thought the more torquer rb26 would have made it easier to drive. the 5spd was excellent and wasnt notchy. My rex is like that (except no gearbox issues), and it gets tiring driving it like a rocket to get the best out of it. I'll be going into brookvale fpv and I'll see what its like having 550nm at almost 2000rpm
  12. Have any of you had the chance to compare the performance of the xr6 turbo or F6 with a GTR preferably the R34? I am not interested in a track car but a daily driver. Does the significantly more torque from the ford make it easier to live with? and in real terms once the cars are moving, would the ford hand it to the gtr in rolling acceleration? I know it is very unlikely that someone has test driven the new Fg F6, but on the ford forums the dyno figures are showing 283 rwkw from a std car. The mags have been commenting that the rolling acceleration is equal to a turbo prosche or the AMG 63. I have always wanted a gtr but these cars really make you think twice.

    Z06 Vs R35

    I watched on autogear where they had a z06 against the 911 turbo, and it was no contest. The 911 was much faster not only in the launch but once it hit 2nd gear it left the z06 car lengths behind. I have presumed the R35 matches the 911, but even from standstill this Z06 obliterated the R35. So yes because it lost.

  16. MRT are expensive. I would have tried calling the guys in silverwater. he would get more for his 5K. I thought the new evo X had 206kw but in a mag i picked up it states it is 217kw. i think they have turned up the boost a bit to match the sti.

  19. JC turned the sat nav off on purpose. There was no traffic in Tokyo so he knew he had won. Also I had no idea each gtr has a specific gearbox mated to that cars engine. That a gearbox from another gtr cannot be interchanged? Unless he was BSing

  22. if you were in a family car I doubt you wopuld have been pulled over. Most 4wds I see leave them on and most people who own expensive cars, as it attracts more attention to their car. maybe also makes it look more cool at night with foggies on.
  23. The w427 would eat an m3 in performance in every respect. Even the 70K priced FPV F6 accelerates faster than the m3. The engine has proven itself in the corvette. It'll have to have a new or reworked drivetrain. Will come with massive brakes. Revised suspension and so on. I doubt it will resemble any VE series HSV. Gauranteed it will wallop even the m5. The R35 GTR is in the class which includes porsches so on. The W427 is not.
