  1. im guessing that the figures mentioned for the gtr are with dumping the clutch at 7K rpm. I think if you had to be nice to the car the r33 gtr would be in the low 6s when stock. This is also what autospeed found. The gts25t would be easily in the 7s (its not a quick car when stock).
  2. have no idea, but at calder a stock f6 managed a 13.3 at 106mph.
  3. just went onto a tuners site in WA- for about 2K you can have a f6 typhoon with 300rwkw. All these cars need seems to be a replaced CAT, edit and tuning. Stock exhaust, same turbo, same everything else.
  4. the thing is the BA typhoon was a 4spd auto, the Bf is the 6 spd. Said to be a much better box with better ratios, can handle more power. Also has sequential shifting. With 550nm of torque at 2000rpm, I dont think it will see your back end if your car was stock in a rolling start.
  5. The ford dealership in brookvale will become an fpv dealership in mid January. Booked myself for a testdrive. For some reason I think it will put a smile on my face. After getting the chip reprogrammed its said to be good for 280rwkw. They are very different cars, but there still 6 cylinder turbo charged. I must be getting old now Im 30 cant even believe Im thinking of even sitting in a ford.
  6. When I said wollop, I was referring to ingear acceleration, not from a standing start like in a drag. The torque is what will pull one car away from another and the f6s figure is substantially higher than the GTRs. Dont get me wrong Im also a skyline nut (have owned 2). The f6 is about as close to a local car that can be compared to the GTR. Several months ago they compared (wheels) a R34 GTR, typhoon and a charger- they said the better car by miles was the typhoon. Now the Bf model with 6spd auto is even faster than that model they tested.
  7. a few people are now driving the bf typhoon in 6 spd auto. Went onto ford forum and it looks like it can pull a low to mid 13sec 1/4 std. In gear acceleration should wollop any std GTR, with 550nm from 2000-5000rpm. Ive been contemplating for a while to either get a moderately modded R33 or the bf typhoon and its not an easy choice. have any of you come across the tyhoon on the roads to see how they go?
  8. Supra 98 model RZ, with 19in wheels....38K. VVTi and all that. Car was immaculate. Still maybe for sale. If your interested I'll pass on the guys details to you.
  9. Im surprised the typhoon doesnt get to 100km/hr in 2nd??
  10. europe got the 2.5L in the wrx and sti as did USA. Its possible Aus will get the 2.5L also ?? we'll all know by end of sept. Little turbo lag, capable of more Hp, should make a better challenger for the gtr.
  11. He wrote the review based on his aussie spec R32 GTR. I would say that autospeed are the least biased motor journalists around. They write as they see it. If it sucks in a certain area they write it and if it excels in others they report on it also. (Ive been overseas for 3 months, cant wait to get back to catch up on the latest issues of speed etc.)
  12. autospeed has some interesting writeups on gtr's Summary: R32- poor handling. All hype and nothing to show R33- better than R32, but if you wanted a car that could do the same as a GTR R33 and more....by an STi R34 GTR Vspec NurII (something like that) - they freaked and said it was awasome.
  13. Im trying to buy a house at the moment. Try emailing a realestate agent..............waste of time. And these di*cks work for commission and buying a home in sydney is very expensive. oz
  14. sorry your right. It was the R33 that came 4th. But interestingly it said the sti set the fastest lap time. What you said was interesting also that your stock GTR and the Sti were pretty much on par to 180km/hr. There was a post earlier by someone that said there stock gts25t got advantage at those speeds while the sti ran out of puff. Cant believe that as the sti I went in was pulling very hard at those speeds and my mildly modded gts25t would not have kept up. Not even close.
  15. was reading thru a post where someone on the wrx forum was talking about a Best Motoring video where they had an R34 GTR, EVo 8 (I think) and a WRX STi RA type C and some other cars on the track. I was surprised, but they said the R34 GTR came 4th and the WRX 1st. I didnt even think they would be comparable, but there you go.
  16. ferni, was standard in that there was no engine mods (stock exhaust). I dont think there was any suspension mods either. Have you been on the track at phillip Is. along side an sti? How have they held up to your GTR? Im going to have a look at there site and see if they have commented on the gtr or gtst on the road or track.
  17. Just had a drive in one (passenger). Im sure no gtst will be able to out drag it from the lights. From 40-110km/hr was unbelievable - the push in the seat, the acceleration was dynamic. Had a mildly modded GTS25T and it would have chopped it even from a role. 3rd gear and your going harder than you should be. the guy driving knew the car very well...............Im not sure, but he says it needs a very well sorted GTR to outcorner it on the track. Any experiences on the road or on the track with one of these things. I wasnt expecting that much from a std car.
  18. demonstrates a typhoon that has had mild mods accelerating with mild throttle input.
  19. A typhoon should be compared to a std GTR - you will find the typhoon wont be far behind and the driver will be far more comfortable- this was what I believe motor mag. found when comparing a typhoon to an R34 (which was not std). Even the owner of the R34 said, it was not a practical car- it stalled on startups, tramlines even on midly rough surfaces, ride is almost go-kart firm, the driver needs to know how to drive the car to the limit (ie most GTR owners most probably couldnt take the GTR around a corner quickely anyway and would end up kissing a telegraph poll). The reason is the torque these cars are producing. 550nm at 2500-5000 RPM (or something like that). This is the reason why many say the RB26 is outclassed by the supra twin turbo engine, purely because it can pull so much more effortlessly. A typhoon with minimal mods, producing 340rwkw with 700nm torque is exceptional. Isnt it??? Autospeed tested a xr6T with a phase III aps kit and commented that the car broke the laws of physics, accelerating from 100km/hr to 200km/hr in a blink of an eye. It still retained factory drivability, didnt stall on startup and so on. An xr6t can be purchased for 35K (2003 model) and the phase III kit I believe costs around 9K. I particulrly never liked any ford or holden. I love my skylines (sold my R33) and also have a TT soarer. The next car I will probably get will be a typhoon MKIII or an STi. Never driven an STi but if the turbo lag is as bad as they say, it will be an easy decision to make.
  20. remember he said he only applied light throttle. It must be fast as eveyone who has been in the car has been shocked by its speed.
  21. I cant see them either????
  22. Cubes and others, I should be fair and say that I had to give up my R33 b/c of family. I remember my wife felt like she was going to give birth in the car due to the ride being so firm. I always wanted to get an R34 but the ride is even stiffer than in a R33 GTR. Here is the ford forum with the videos just if your curious what a typhoon sounds like in 2nd gear. http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...opic=19268&st=0 cheers oz.
  23. have been recently visiting a xr6t forum. Some of the guys there have purchased the f6 typhoon. With very few mods : CAI, injectors, high flow cat and a tune, these cars are making over 300rwkw. Seriously you cant get a GTR to that power figure with only the above mods. The cost of the mods are around 4K. there was also a short video posted of the midly modified f6 (343rwkw) and I have to say the shear acceleration was intoxicating. So for a brand new f6 typhoon with all the options (just above 60K) and 4K worth of mods, you have a car that will tear a GTR to shreads in performance, is more comfortable to drive day-in-day-out, has a nicer/ clasier interior and can still be driven effotlessly in sydney traffic. Sorry but after seeing that video I have been converted.
  24. nice cars. Just regarding your quote. What if they dont recognise the same author wrote the other two books?
  25. I sold my 95 gts25t 1 year ago for 16.5K. It had done 65K. It was in immac condition. Its unfortnuate but you loose a lot of money when selling imports.
