  1. I think the issue with that (I asked Mr Scotty for the same thing) was that there's actually no room to put one there?
  2. There is no such thing as a perfect start on a cold melbourne day on e85. really its 1) Does the car ACTUALLY start in under 30 seconds (maybe multiple tries, couple stalls, etc) if yes: Your car is fine, get over it if no: Something is probably up I reckon people saying "lolz cold start on e85 is bad" is because they have an aneurysm if the car cranks more than once. Source - f**ked with cold starts on e85 for literally multiple hours a day over two weeks, ended up raging at fuel pump.
  3. Performance per dollar, a R34 GTR is the 'worst' skyline. However never heard a R34 GTR owner ever say "damn, wish I got [insert any other skyline here]"
  4. I agree entirely on the above post.
  5. They're 100% different, but you can front end convert a GTT with GTR panels, and I'm sure you could weld on the rears. I mean, the subframe is different on the GT and GTT (I mean, no Hicas!). How different does it need to be, to be "different?" The wording on the law is grey. It insinuates that you should change EVERY component to match the car that the engine came from. Technically for the R34 NA it would mean you have to change to fork style rear end, you must put in a different diff and drive shafts, completely different springs, add HICAS to the car, change the steering rack, put in the GTT brakes, etc. Are these a trim level on the R34? Is a GTR simply a GT with a different twin turbo engine, wider flares, different bodywork up front, different suspension, diffs, and an AWD system? By the same definition, you could argue that a HSV Clubsport is as different to a V6 Commodore. It also has a different engine, wildly different more aggressive body work, different suspension, diffs, brakes, etc. But you can put the engine from one into a V6 without a cert. Base level VE Commodore vs a HSV R8 /devils advocate I personally think putting a 26 into a GTT is against the 'spirit' of the law, but the actual definition of the law is what counts, and I suppose people who get paid to interpret that definition (i.e lawyers), would have a fair bit to talk about on the subject. But personally I still think the best way to do it, is not have to explain it to anyone.
  6. I think a lot of the stigma around it can come from people who have gotten out of what they consider depression. Myself included, I had my own dark days, and eventually I did get over them by myself, made the tough choices, and turned it all around without outside intervention. Everyone's misery is different and can't be directly compared, but I'm 33 and I've been divorced 7 years. 7 years ago, I distinctly recall walking along a ledge with arms outstretched on a windy day, seven floors up thinking it didn't really matter if I fell off or not. But I got over it, and did it myself, moved back to Australia and started again. You come back from that and you think anything is possible, if you give zero farks and be yourself and whatever happens, happens. You have to really let go etc. the problem with this though is that I find myself rather unsympathetic to those people who are sad, upset, depressed about something that either I've been through and survived, or something that wouldn't have fazed me much to begin with. This is ultimately, completely unfair, but it's VERY hard to shake. I have a sister who has had 'problems' since she was about 14. She is 26 now. I still scoff, sneer, and regard her as weak, unable to get her shit together, like I did. It's very pervasive. It feels accurate, too. It's unbelievably frustrating when you see people struggle with things you overcame. It's like losing some intelligent friend to religion, (I say this not to offend Mr Terry), when you know they know better, how could someone previously intelligent get duped so bad. You can substitute religion to anything, though. A bad relationship with an abusive partner, falling in with a cult, or scientology, or some idiotic scam scamming them out of their money. You feel like you're better than them cause you wouldn't fall for that or you've been through it and survived. It's wrong, but I can see both sides of the story regarding opinions on mental health. I know enough to walk away from people who have issues they need to overcome. I'm not helpful, I'll remove myself from their life mainly due to the fact I know they'll need to overcome it on their own terms. But shit, if you have any concerns at all - TALK TO SOMEONE. It is never shameful to ask for, or accept help. That said, a girl I dated briefly (who was crazy, but not in the context of this discussion crazy) said that everyone, healthy or not, should have a shrink, or someone to talk to, before things get bad, so you have a decent sounding platform because people who are depressed can't see they're depressed. People who think they're fine, and happy, may change their tune when they get feedback. She said a lot of dumb shit that one, but that line stuck with me and I fully support it. If you have a problem, talk to someone. It will help. If you don't have a problem, try it anyway. Get a check-up.
  7. I've taken a deposit on this now, unless I bump this thread with "This is now again for sale somehow" consider it gone!
  8. Is it though? I get what you're saying, and the 'best' option is to get it engineered, no questions asked, and for the cost, I'd probably do that anyway. But you can put a V8 into a V6 commodore. You can put a RB25DET Neo into a non turbo R34 (with brakes) But there's a lot different between a GT and a GTT in my example. Different gearbox. Different steering, different suspension, different diff, different every other component in the car as I found out later. The only thing similar in the end (or exactly the same) is the chassis the panels sit on. Is that not the same scenario for the GTR vs the GTT? It's an interesting Ship of Thesus style thought experiment, really. In the end, to be fully certain, I'd ask an Engineer, armed with the definition of what is required for a Legal engine swap in Victoria. The exact wording is: "Fitting a manufacturer's optional engine together with any associated components (e.g. brakes, suspension, etc) as supplied by the manufacturer for that same model vehicle" Is 'model' = R34? or is 'model' = GT-R? Keeping mind they also state you can put a XR8 engine into a XR6, the model would seem to be 'Ford Falcon' in that case. In the end, I'd get an engineer's word before I even touched a wrench to move the engine, and have a certificate before you try and explain these definitions on the side of the road if someone wants to hand you a defect for it.
  9. I went to the one in Burwood, as I was working at HP at the time, which is literally directly across the road. The law says you don't need an engineer certificate to put an engine in that was an option for that chassis. But shit, even if you do need an engineer certificate and they knock you back? I'd just try and get one anyway, because that's going to be cheaper than buying a forged RB26 when you think about it. Though if I was going to do that, I'd like to engineer a forged XR6T engine, because that'd be legal but a RB26/30 isn't, because GO VICTORIA!
  10. In vic, you need to make a claim that the engine was offered in that model car. The query really is that "model" = r34 Skyline, or is the "model" a GTR? That's the point of contention. For example, I had a N/A R34 GT. I put a RB25DET Neo into it, and some 33 GTST brakes. I went to vicroads. I spoke to them and said "I have put this turbo engine into my car" They checked the rego number. They looked at the brakes for about one millionth of a second and then updated the engine number. That was it. No engineering cert required, no follow ups, no cost, nothing. In and out in 15 minutes. I could conceive (having done it before!) that you could go there with a R34 coupe and say "this is a RB26, it came in this chassis" which it pretty much did. Show some 324mm brakes (they wont measure, 310 is enough I'd wager) and they will probably just update the engine number and away you go. You can engineer almost any swap. If someone gave me a 490KW forged RB26, I would be doing exactly what you're doing as you can make it EPA proof and Legally put it into a R34 GTT. If you were starting from a base RB26 vs a RB25 neo, I wouldn't go that route - but that also isn't what you're doing.
  11. I doubt any local shop is going to get them cheaper than 600 new.. for 6 of them... with plug adaptors... and local warranty...
  12. Hi all. I have a RB25DET Neo that is about to be pulled out as the car it's in is about to be used as a rolling shell to put a different engine in to. This is sad, because this car is absolutely, completely, and utterly stock and I am pretty sure has never, ever ever been modified, ever. Yeah, that's what they all say, you say. Engine runs smooth, starts first try, makes no weird noises, doesn't do anything weird. Runs so well seriously just considering bolting all the extra bits to it and using it. But I won't because that will make too much sense. I'd like $1400 for it. But I'd take less than that if you're going to make an offer (try me) and/or have great boobs. As it's still in the car, I haven't attached pictures because it looks exactly like a stock RB25DET neo, complete with series 2 (ooh!) engine cover and/or whatever differences are in the S2 engine. I assume none. If you want, and are in Vic, feel free to PM me and you can come see the car, driving around on the engine before it comes out. Note: It is going to be coming out of the car soon, (potentially this weekend!) cause I'd like to be up and running with my stuff ASAP. I will also be selling every other bit with it, so if you want alternators, and manifolds, injectors, coilpacks, etc etc they're all included. THE LOOM ISN'T AS I WANT TO USE IT. You can however, have the loom coming out of my current car, which works, but is uh... ..ugly. But it works. PM me with lowball offers and I won't even really be mad. If you can come and take the engine I'll be happy.
  13. $400 now, plus postage if you aren't in VIC (I'll bring them to you if you are) Note: These do not have plugs. Pm scotty nm35 for some (about $60). No plugs because these can go into a variety of different engines, all of which require different plugs.
  14. Or you could just buy mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Can confirm you want the 3/4 length injectors. Can confirm you need the plug adaptors. Can confirm they are 14mm. (according to scotty) Can confirm you should probably just message scotty if you absolutely want new ones as opposed to second hand ones.
  15. You may be able to get away with it due to "but it came in the 34!!111" which it sort of did. But in reality, it never came in THAT exact model, a GTT. That said, you can put a Turbo engine in a NA, and the chassis and other bits are different. It's a grey area. As GTSBoy said in the other thread, why would you even do it? the ONLY reason I can think of doing it is to keep dat stock turbo look with twins, which is kind of a big deal in Victoria, but in any scenario that you are explaining "its stock officer" you'd better be prepared to explain how the engine found its way into a GTT, may be very much pushing uphill. The neo is as good and/or better engine anyway, (VCT!, Solid lifters! Higher comp ratio!) requires nothing to change, zero labour, and like, IS standard, so unless you want to go 500+kw and appear completely dead stock from the outside, which would be really 'fun' in a RWD GTT anyway..... don't do it
  16. Searching and found this, because I really wanted to be certain I wasn't running 130C oil temp on the highway cruising around... .... ...anyone want to sell me a loom and plug to go back to the original gauges?
  17. wts r34 series 2 grey front bar
  18. I was considering being lazy enough to just remove all the glass out of the doors of my old car and put it back into the new car, so I didn't have to worry about getting tinted windows. Unsure if this actually constitutes being lazy, though....
  19. East (Glen Waverley area). Not too fussed, but obviously a 'while you wait' and/or 'do it while at work' scenario is ideal if I got super picky
  20. So, who's the go for tinting nowdays? My car has only got the back windows tinted. Was curious about getting the fronts to match it. Dunno if even possible as everyone seems to do entire car and/or remove all tint and start again. Is there matching issues if you only tint two, etc, or some boss tinter do it without any drama and fuss Doesn't need to be super daaarrrk vip stylesssss but would be nicer if it matched (IMO)
  21. Having lived in 'Murica, they sure do have cheap cars. Also, seeing things like the challenger make me say 'MURRICCAAAAA but not jokingly. They kind of build the things that HSV/FPV should have been building for many, many years.
  22. I wouldn't be surprised if they are rebranded GM sensors - Their external MAP sensors (4-5 bar) which I have are "GM" ones or "Haltech" ones depending on who you ask. I have the haltech one, and happily paid the extra to make sure it worked. I wanted to peel the sticker off to look more 'factory' but never did it. Maybe I'll do it and see if the PN under the sticker is there/the same.
  23. I also hate the whiny bitching. But, if you read it, its pretty well thought out, and also it isn't that whiny. But ultimately, what's a forum admin going to do? This guy clearly has enough wits about him to re-register after being banned. What would it accomplish anyway? Clearly mr copthis has done a fair amount of detective work, and the admins of SAU can't do anything more than he has.
  24. I also know nothing about plumbing, so I can't say whether age and deafness are going to cause a serious concern to being able to get the job done. I wouldn't have thought so, but I have no idea on what plumbers must go though on a daily basis.
