  1. For what its worth (and to all you searchers) R33GTST is eye/eye as well.
  2. Hope does nothing it appears, so cmon make me an offer to reclaim my shed space.
  3. When I was there I booked hotels/motels/private hostel rooms a day in advance using the internet. There's plenty of places if your standards are low enough. That said, $12 will get you a pretty damn nice room, for $12. Obviously sensible to have your first few days booked, though!
  4. Da Nang, Sapa (its not cold, "cold" in Vietnam is under 30) are pretty touristy places. Yes you can hire a bike anywhere. WARNING: TRAFFIC IN VIETNAM IS INSANE. I only hired a bike when I was WELL in no-mans land. I mean WELL in no-mans land. Hiring a bike in a city is ... man, need massive balls for that. Taxis push people on scooters out of the way with the car. That's what its like.
  5. u wot m8 Depends a bit on how savvy you are though. I can imagine a lot of people want to 'travel' but lose their mind if they have to go to an ol quarter Hanoi restaurant, sit on a plastic table and eat unknown food from an unknown menu in an unknown language and don't know how to use chopsticks. "This is so different!" is either really interesting and cool, or terrifying to some people.
  6. What do you mean when you say 'tours'? I didn't like taking tours (travel hipster lololoolol) but there are many out there, Sapa, Ha Long bay etc but you can do FAR better for yourself if you do NOT take tours. In Vietnam, you will get a LOT OF PEOPLE offering tours and shit to you. Its just how it is. Shake your head and keep walking, and you'll be fine. Down south they are more pushy. Hanoi is great to just walk around in. Tour people seem to love Sappa. I skipped it and went to Ha Giang. There is nothing to do in Ha Giang, unless you really enjoy that fact in which case it is awesome. Hire a motorbike (for like $3 a day) and go exploring. Try not to die. There's towns up north along the China border which is where I went instead of Nappa. Google Dong Van (really, lol) But this is seriously way off the map. Enough so that children who have never seen a white person before will start crying and lose their shit at the strange alien people. However everyone else there is awesome. It's a big adventure, but it's of the unscripted kind. But you can walk into any hostel in Hanoi and say one word of English and get thrown enough tours that you will be there for fourty years doing tours of god knows what
  7. GO TO VIETNAM It is cheaper than Bali. It's pretty much what you want. If you aren't a super traveller, you may find Hanoi a bit 'out there' Either that or you will love it.
  8. I have been to 'nam yo. Don't do tours. You will cheapen the whole thing. I started North and went south by train (and then through Cambodia). When I go again, I will start in the North, and stay in the north. Then again I am the kind to hire a scooter and go visit uncontacted tribes in jungles type. If you want party party then stick down south. Depends on what you want to get out of Vietnam
  9. Yep. I had to get a stat dec on my car drama (and list all expenditures, etc) I also had to do the travel thing, both for me and partner. Then as it got flagged, they asked me to provide an itinerary for every trip either of us had made. It was enough to fill every page of two passports, fuuaaaargh. You can be reasonably confident I won't sell Australia's secrets, you guys.
  10. Au govt security clearances are fun Mine was delayed because I had to explain why car's value has tripled since I bought it they were extremely skeptical also had to explain the non australian long term partner who had two passports both full of international travel, as well as my own full passport of travel good times
  11. please provide more details
  12. But we have the same opinion, so, what he said is what I say about the thing. From a FREEDOMMMSS standpoint banning the drink isn't the answer. Then again, how many times do you really require 95% alcohol shots? ... I mean if you're in that kind of situation, where only 95% alcohol works for you anymore, it may be time to consider what lead you to that scenario This all really boils down to "Its fine, if you excercise knowledge and judgement" However the usage of the item impairs knowledge and judgement. Unless you start the night with 95% alcohol shots, in which case PARTY HARD YO, but, like I said before, if you're doing this then someone should really be stopping you and saying "hey mate.... you have a problem" ... in which case there's no real downside to not selling the stuff in the first place
  13. Well actually, there kind of is. Ingesting copious amounts of alcohol is a semi deliberate choice. Ingesting the same physical volume which now has the side effect of being X times more powerful without knowledge can certainly happen when your judgement is already impaired by alcohol. Especially when you can drink well beyond copious amounts of alcohol without drinking what you'd think to be "copious amounts" of alcohol when it's 95% alcohol. Pretty sure everyone in this forum has had "one drink too many" even in their impeccable judgment. And if that "one drink" is dialled up into insane levels, well, this can happen.
  14. It's irresponsible, sure, but I would wager that the people drinking it had no idea of the lethality of the drink. If you can you know, accidentally kill yourself with it, then there needs to be some kind of control as to how it's procured. It's a lot harder to literally kill yourself with VB.
  15. Sadly I have no excuse to bump this other than hopeful wide eyes about selling some of it.
  16. It's all fun and games in Melbourne until you try and register it This is well worth the money.
  17. she'll be right* mate *never right
  18. All the kms done were cruising kms below the speed limit, off boost. Well not all, but relative to most people on SAU I really do drive like a grandpa. I'd like to take it to the track one day, but the car has never been working. It is currently sitting at an engine builder shop, with the engine entirely dis-assembled. As for $ per KM, it's certainly somewhere around $2
  19. Seems I need to post a TLDR version here. Will maybe write it out if I can remember it all Had car for 7 years is a daily (lol) Done 27,000kms total in 7 years This car is on its 2nd chassis its 5th engine (and third rebuild) its 9th fuel pump its 2nd diff (and set of axles!) its 3rd set of suspension its 4th? transmission its 3rd ECU its 3rd turbo its 3rd (sort of) manifold its 3rd fuel tank its 4th set of tyres (in 27,000kms?) its 3rd set of brakes (as in set of front calipers, discs) its 3rd exhaust as you can imagine, the non TLDR version of this is very long ..and still going
  20. I win this thread. I don't even need to type.
  21. ....murica?
  22. If you make the same power, the same power 'earlier' is better. However if you're out on the track, all that power at 4000 RPM is useless if you are making power between 5000 and 8000 and you're always in that rev range. Really, you want the power where you're actually going to be using it.
  23. I am OK with this. You should know, any part I have actually sold, I have given this disclaimer in person to every buyer.
  24. The wheels and headlights have since been sold. This is an excuse to bump the rest of it.
