  2. Go the Ebay Lada!!!
  3. Poor Lada.... Isn't there somebody in our club who is an explosives expert??
  4. I think it has an adjuster standard to allow for stretch in the cam belt, this would retard the inlet camshaft timing, which is not a good thing. So in the case that I had a new belt fitted..... Timing would be back to original or something? Bugger it, I'm just going to fit the thing and have a play!!!
  5. Would 2 degrees retarded have much of an effect in the inlet cam?
  6. Yeah, I knew there wasn't a huge amount of difference, but I just want to try adjusting my inlet because there is adjustment available in the stock gear, and it is all the way to one side. Not sure which side as it's back on the car now. If it's retarded by it's full adjustment, I'm definently going to pick up a little bit, if it's fully advanced, maybe I need to back it off a little. More for curiousity than for outright power searching. SK, have you even adjusted the standard inlet cam on an RB25DET? Just curious if you know why there is adjustment as standard, cos the exhaust isn't adjustble.... All help appreciated. PS, the adjuster will be a really really simple piece of laser cut 6mm plate with four holes tapped into it. BASS OUT
  7. Pete's method. Take to exhaust shop, say "This should take about 30 minutes. How much is your labour per hour, oh $65 bucks, Sounds good. I'll wait." Job done in 30 minutes, and if they snap a bolt, they have everything there to fix it. BASS OUT
  8. Well, you can feel the difference by the seat of your pants (apparently) with the adjustable exhaust cam, so I would assume you would be able to feel some difference by adjusting it all the way one way or the other. I will be having mine done, and driving straight to a dyno for playing next week. I wont be able to get it to W.A by this weekend though. Where are you located GTS?
  9. Hey guys. As you may know, I recently fitted some cams to my car, which resulted in a slight loss of power blah blah blah. Something I did find out however, is that you can actually adjust the inlet cam gear, but only from the back of the gear. That is the part which you can only get to by removing the cam gear itself. In the name of power hunting, I'm making up a flange which I am going to fit to my car to enable the gear to be adjusted from the front of the gear, making it really easy to do. I need, however, a guinea pig to have a go with their car. I know that one of my mechanics has done this on am RB, he was using Wolf I think, and he reported pretty reasonable gains. So, what I need is somebody who is keen to fit one to their car and report back on results. I will have some samples this week.... Who is interested? BASS OUT

  17. R34 has only VVT on inlet. To be honest I havent' checked whether is has been reconnected. I assume it has. How do I check?
  18. I'm going to try it, but I wonder if the centre of this adjustment is the centre of adjustment... Interesting. SK?
  19. Okay, here's my thought. the Inlet cam gear is adjustable, not easily, but it is. Now I noticed the bolts in this were all the way to one side of the adjustment. I'm not sure if this was advance or retard, but it wasn't right in the middle..... So maybe this could be a factor? I'm making up a ring to make the inlet gear adjustable shortly, then I'm going to give it a run and see how it goes with some adjustment. I will first try it in the middle. Then play with it from there...... What do you think? Could this be the cause?
  20. Nobody is under any obligation to know what time it is. How do you know it was a 40 zone at that time? Was is marked with the flashing LED speed signs? If not, fight it. There is no law that says you must know what the time it when you are driving. This has been faught before and beaten.
  21. Just waiting on Troys project to be complete, then we are away. Soon guys. Don't transfer money just yet.
  22. Okay, some driving impressions. Sound: Start up: Start's fine, no problems, Cold start idle problem now fixed. Idle: A little bit angry when it's cold. Much sharper idle note. A bit deeper. Driving: A little bit louder, not much, deeper. Full throttle: A bit deeper I think, havent had a chance to oper her up at all to 100, but hey, these are public streets. Power: Off the line, same. During gears, the car doesn't pick up as fast as previously. It used to get up on the boost mega quick which would lead to surging forward at low throttle inputs, but now more linear. The curve is now not so much of a curve as it is a straighter line. Boost comes on a little later during overtaking type acceleration, but puch still very similar. Other Stuff First gear, still unusable. More to do with tyres I think than anything else. Down a hill, foot off throttle, much quieter.... Also backing off the throttle after 50% throttle doesn't result in the little jerk forward that used to occur. Doesn't burble down a hill if my foot is just on the throttle. Less engine braking. Dyno charts are to come probably over the next couple of days. PS. Does anybody know if you can put your dyno runs from one dyno on a disk and then take your runs from another, put them on the disk and then compare graphs directly?? BASS OUT
