WTB or borrow: R34 Induction pipe between AFM and Turbo
Bass Junky replied to Bass Junky's topic in Wanted to Buy
Anyone waiting on Compliance who could lend it to me for a while? Anyone with a crashed car who could lend it to me for a bit? -
Silver with purple pearl (I think it's called Pewter) R34 GTT

Hey ppls. I'm looking at making up a steel (a or ally) pipe to go between the Stock AFM and Stock turbo. Has anyobdy done this on an R34? Do you have any lying around? Do you have a stock pipe handy that I can borrow (See WTB thread in WTB section) If I do go ahead, I will get a few made (to order)...... No profits to be made (apart from a $10 donation to the forums) Anybody willing to help out with a rubber hose??? Cheers BASS OUT (I know this is very close to a Group buy thing, but right now I need the rubber hose before I offer a group buy)

Hey ppls. I'm looking at having a custom pipe made up to go from the standard AFM to the standard turbo. This will stop any 'sucking closed' issues with the stock rubber pipe. Does anybody have a stock rubber tube that I can borrow to get copied in steel. I will freight and return said pipe when the copy is done. I might even supply you with a steel one free if it all works out. BASS OUT

I also have one, but 4 months is too long. Might get defected in the mean time by somebody who thinks that a pod is the spawn of the devil.

I think that list could be well replaced with just one word. EVERYTHING! Nice work BASS OUT

New Lightweight Flywheel
Bass Junky replied to Bass Junky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Roy. by more "Race" I mean that when you change gears, the revs drop quicker, and whe you get on the gas, there isn't any surge from the engine which previously had to slow to match the road speed. It's a bit hard to understand, but it does sound much cooler. FURTHER REPORT In wet weather, once the car breaks traction, the revs rise heaps faster, so you have to be a little bit more alert; but they also drop quicker, so removing your foot from the pedal stops the qheels spinning heaps quicker also. New Lightweight Flywheel
Bass Junky replied to Bass Junky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Okay, Further reports on the flywheel. I driven around quite a lot today and have the following to say. NOTHING BAD AT ALL! The car starts perfectly, idles perfectly, revs clean. Driving took a little bit of adjusting as the car revs up faster and down faster, so between gears you must be a bit quicker to be smooth, but even if you are not the car doesn't jerk as much as you come off the clutch because the flywheel doesn't "store" as much energy. On hard changes, the car doesn't leap forward as per before, rather it just sounds more like a race car and accelerates. Because I didn't fit a button clutch, the flywheel and clutch combo is very liveable. Easy to slip and to drive calmly. Summing up, I would highly recommend the fitment of a light weight flywheel to your ride. I will be taking it to Calder (along with the new intercooler) to see how I got and to evaluate the gains this coming Friday (weather permitting). I'll let you all know how I go. BASS OUT -
Tech heads: need some answers....
Bass Junky replied to DJ984's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Permanently: You would then have to weld little lugs to the places you want the signal to be taken from and then attach a MAP sensor to each lug. From there you would have to output that signal to some sort of display unit. I can't really see this as being a cheap thing to do...... The alternative it to plumb up three seperate boost gauges.... I think Autometer now have digital readouts which have the outputs from two sensors displayed on the one guage. You can configure them to be whatever you want. (might not be autometer.... but it's someone. BASS OUT -

Permanently or temporarily?? -
I agree. Yuk.

New Lightweight Flywheel

I din't know either. Speed Technology in Mitcham are Exedy dealers. They put mine in yesterday. Check PM. BASS OUT -
RaulR33. The R34 has a different inlet to the throttle body as it has a solenoid operated throttle before the normal one for traction control, therefore you can't put a 120 in there. Secondly, I didn't want to cut the chassis for the pipe. Thirdly, that's just how the kit came. Who am I to argue?? Abo Bob. The bottom of the Nismo bar would be completely unsupported if I cut out the number plate section. On a road car, the intercooler acts more like a heat sink anyway, by the time you heat soak the cooler enough to require bulk airflow, you would probably break something else. On a race or track car however, airflow is important to remove heat from the core. I also wanted full stealth for staying a little bit discreet. Another note. Boost definently comes on a little later, but no later than stock thanks to Roil. I also fitted a lightened flywheel: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...2997#post882997 yesterday, which takes up the slack response. BASS OUT

New Lightweight Flywheel
Bass Junky replied to Bass Junky's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Okay, After one evening of driving and one morning to work I have found the following (only about 30 klms). When the car starts it makes a cool zing noise from the flywheel!! Low revs, loaded engine, high gear about 1400 - 1700 rpm vibration/noise (more like noise) from flywheel and clutch, but this may go away with the running in of the clutch. When cold starting, the engine settles to idle much faster and all changes in engine speed happen much faster. Need to re-learn how to change gears as the engine drops off much faster, and can sometimes lead to messy changes, car jerks forward due to not enough revs. Method of fixing is simply change faster. Havent done any performance based testing yet as I want to run the clutch in first. Will keep this thread updated. BASS OUT -
krzysiu I'll drive your car..... Bwah ha ha ha ha

Okay, cooler fully installed and the bar has been cut to suit. Undertrays back on, wheel guards also back one. Pics attached. Stealth baby! BASS OUT

Hey ppls. Having a new flywheel and clutch (Exedy Super Heavy Duty or something) fitted today. Bought an Ogura flywheel weighing in at about 4.5kgs. The old one weighed in at 8.7 kgs. See pics below. Yet to drive it, so I'm not sure how it feels yet. Will let you all know when I do. BASS OUT

Happy birthday dude

It an HKS intercooler kit. Comes with everything to bolt the kit up to the car. Including a small bracket to hold the return pipe to the chassis and stop it from flopping about. The long pipe which goes from the turbo side of the engine to the far side is actually the "hot" pipe, and the short pipe going to the intake the is the "cold" pipe. Interesting. Today, the mesh grills are being cut and put into the oringinal locations where possible and the cooler will be sprayed matt black for stealth (well, as much as possible anyway) Will let you all know how it turns out. Well, it turns out that there is a considerable amount of 'massaging' of the front bar also. : BUGGER : Check the pics.

Horn bracket was 'massaged' out of the way, its no problem. Going over the road now to check on the fron tbar status. Stay Tuned

Hey ppls. Just had the new cooler fitted and thought I'd port some pics for anybody interested in how it looks. Its an R34 GTT It an HKS Type S Intercooler kit. I powder coated the pipes black (they were originally silver) for stealth, but couldn't decided on an appropriate coating for the cooler so left it uncoated. They only had to cut the lower cross member. All pipes went back to the original holes where the standard cooler goes. Here's the pics. BASS OUT
