  1. Looks like I'll be doing this too when my rear bar goes on. Whilst the car is in the shop, I'll pull the bits out, clean em up, and get them sprayed the same colour as the car, then layer on some clear coat. Top work Dan. How hard is it to pull the window controls apart?
  2. If you have anything of a Red EVO 9, number 942 that would be tops. E-mail to [email protected] Higest res you've got!!!! Cheers
  3. If you want the money for it, you should pull the install out, go back to stock rims. Then sell it with the turbo and PFC and sell the rims and install seperatly People don't buy used cars by saying "Car $30k + install $8k + mods $4k = $42k" They say, stock car = $30k mods and install worth maybe $5k cos I'm going to change it all anyway.
  4. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you won't get close to $38k. I have spent over $20k on my car including everything to the suspension, turbo, cams, wheels, full respray etc etc. I KNOW that i wont be able to get even close to $38k Maybe $33k at the top end. Must be realistic.
  5. Happy B-day Dee Sorry we couldn't get there, I had my little man with me. Probably see you next Saturday night though!
  6. Hey ppls. Well a quick wrap up. Jeff had the diff replaced that night and was back on track the next morning. However, placing 60th all day Saturday didn't help his position and driving the wheels off it on Sunday was pointless. Positions in the 30s during Sunday reflected this. So, 23rd outright for Jeff. I think that would have been his worst result in 14 years of Targa. I'm sure Jeff will come on SAU during this week and give a bit of a wrap up. Well done to Jeff for not leaving the track !!! Maybe next year he'll be back in a GTR again.......... BASS OUT
  7. Okay report. Jeff and 3 or 4 other Evos broke their front diffs on the same jump today. Apparently one wheel lands on the dirt, one on the tarmac, and if you get a little bit of air underneath you the revs flair for a split second, at the same time the diff's lock up via the computers, and when you land, one side wants to spin, one doesn't and BANG. So they spent the rest of the day driving on the rear diff only. An Evo driving on its rear diff, is like a GTR trying to drive on it's front diff. Not fast.... New diff going in now and should be ready for tomorrow. Current position, about 22nd. BASS OUT
  8. Results page down whilst they do some work on it. Current feelings from Jeff is that the car isn't as fast for him as the GTR. Current placings as far as I can work out from non-confirmed times this afternoon is about 14th. More when the results come in.
  9. YES, the correct EBC WILL bring boost on sooner. What you need is an EBC that doesn't allow any pressure to get to the wastegate until required. The wastegate has a spring, lets call it 10psi. When that spring is seeing 5psi, it's 50% open, hence wastegate is half open bleeding off boost. At 1psi, it's 10% etc etc. It's simple Physics. so, if you get an EBC that shuts the wastegate actuator pressure line until you want it too, boost WILL come on sooner. You will have the same effect but doing the mighty ghetto mod of kinking your wastegate actuator rod...... BASS OUT
  10. The GCG is going to have better response than the Slide, but neither will be as good as the GT-RS or the Apexi. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?
  11. Hey ppls, The following people have not yet paid and need to tell me what is going on so that I can get this thing happening..... R33 Steveo_R33 DNR33 SeriesII 33som R34 Zensoku john-e boi Shadowsky I've had a few people pull out and have let me know. If the above people are still keen, please let me know. If anybody knows these people, tell them to get over here BASS OUT
  12. Simonsen and White both had an Off in one of the stages today. Thursday, 19 April, 2007 12.57PM 902 - Simonsen / Searcy - Off on TS13 Weldborough Pass - 8.4km - crew are OK 934 - White / White - Off on TS13 Weldbourgh Pass - 11.2km - crew are OK Jeff getting faster in the Evo according to what results are available. The Skelta is also out with mechanical dramas. I have a gripe though.... BOOO to the Targa Tasmania website for not having bigger pictures available on the website. This is the best I can get of Jeff in action.
  13. Hey guys. Absolute results still not verified. Jeff running in the mid 20's He says that the young guns are driving at 12 10th and are carving everyone up. It's not that he's a lot slower than everyone, just that there are a LOT of fast cars and people this year. One thing he did say, is that to win you have to finish 1 902 Simonsen Searcy Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX 00:08 2 934 White White Lamborghini Super Leggera 00:18 3 918 Sullens Barkley Subaru Impreza WRX RA 00:32 4 919 Richards Oliver Porsche 911 GT3 RS 00:38 5 991 Weeks Allen Lamborghini Super Leggera 01:09 6 922 Longhurst De Vere Subaru Impreza WRX STi C Spec 01:12 7 996 Quinn Wenn Porsche 997 Turbo 01:19 8 939 Warwick Murphy Porsche 911 GT3 01:23 9 953 Heskin Deniese Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX RS 01:30 10 903 Rattray Jackson Subaru Impreza WRX STi 01:31 11 913 Close Close Porsche 911 Turbo 01:42 12 940 Higgins Hansen Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX RS 01:44 13 971 Taplin Young Porsche 911 GT3 CS 01:55 14 866 Shaw Parish Mazda RX7 02:00 14 961 Warren Boyle Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX 02:00 16 993 Stokell Burrey Mini Cooper S JCW 02:09 17 912 Brown Locker Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX 02:10 18 954 Froude Logan Porsche 911 GT3 CS 02:11 19 958 Bates McLoughlin Mazda 3MPS 02:13 20 932 Bartter Wheeler Subaru Impreza WRX STi 02:16 21 979 Grant Wooster Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II N1 02:17 22 992 Denyer Moscatt Mini Cooper S JCW 02:19 23 994 Thomas Thomas Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX RS 02:20 24 976 Purdey Hart Porsche 996 Turbo S 02:22 25 811 Hawkins Warren Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 02:29 26 929 Hendy Hendy Daytona Coupe 02:34 27 819 Ayers Bolton Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec 02:37 28 978 Ledger Dunkerton Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX 02:41 29 942 Beable Beable Mitsubishi Evolution Lancer IX 02:42 29 973 Miedecke Willson Hyundai Tiburon 02:42 31 850 Bobik Crossley Porsche 968 CS 02:45
  14. IF you want the BEST turbo available on the market, bar none, its the Apexi RX6B series. Blistering response, massive power potential. But you pay through the nose. Unquestionably best of the best for response and good power. The Apexi turbo will make 280 rwkw and better than stock response on a skyline.
  15. I'm a big fan of Cruise. I use cruise everywhere, including on 50kph streets. I hate getting fines (not that I've had one in the last 5 years) and so use the CC as a speed control device. Accelerate to speed limit, activate cruise. It's easy, it's what it's there for and it works. My wife's VW GTI had an instantaneous litres/100k readout and on a flat surface the thing is rock solid. Undulating, I've never seen the cruise be more than a few kph behind set speed going up a hill, and I've NEVER seen it over the limit anywhere other than a a very steep hill, and at a very steep hill, even if you don't have cruise, you are going to accelerate. I think the argument about things jumping out at you on suburban roads is a little misguided. In these days of constant speed watching, it could be said that cruise is a safety device. The less time I spent looking down at my speedo, the more time I'm looking at the road ready for those things that "Jump out at me" I hate not having CC in my R34, especially on the trip to Deca when you want to relax and constantly be speed checking. I have done a LOT of kilometers for work in cars both with and without cruise. I'm much more alert and less tired after a few hours on cruise than not. This makes me a safer driver on cruise.
  16. Okay guys Quick Report. Jeff says the car is good. It's quite quick but a LOT different to the GTR. Missed gear changes several times which is why he dropped back to 12th. Seeing as this is his first EVER session in the car, it's still pretty fair!! Can't find any photos on Targa.org.au yet, but I'm sure some will surface soon enough.

  20. Hey guys.... Can I make a point about something. When I slide across the back of the Skid Pan at Deca I'm tapping the limiter in 2nd, bringing up about 110kph. When we tip into corners at high speeds, I can comfortably slide the tail, hold the angle and power out midway through third gear and be changing into 4th seconds after the corner, bringing up 150. I'm an amateur driver/drifter who's never been to a drift event (but will soon, thanks Calder )but I can see 200kph corner entries as a definent possibility. You are talking about two different disciplines of motor sport. Corner entry speed in Drift is very important, the higher it is, the more smoke you can blow on the way out. I wouldn't discount the ability to enter a corner at 200kph in a drift car. Track guys enter a corner at 180-200 and focus on grip and speed. Drifters enter a corner at 180-200 kph and focus on slide. my $0.02c
  21. Yay for Deca, Yay for Pete.
  22. Jeff Beable who normally drives the GTRs has been offered a Ralliart EVO 9 to compete this year. Me-thinks he will be VERY fast this year...... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=164712
  23. Hey guys. Well, some of you may know legendary Targa Tasmania competitor Jeff Beable is a member of our mighty club. Traditionally Jeff has raced Nissan GTRs to a best of 3rd Outright behind Jim Richards and Peter Fitzgerald in 2000. Consistent top 10 placings over the last 14 consecutive starts puts Jeff at the pointy end of the field. BUT. Jeff has been swayed over to the dark side this year, along with several of our member to the Mitsubishi Evo. The Evo is a full Ralliart prepared factory backed Race Car! See below some pictures of Jeff and the car ready for action. Each day I will post a quick report about Jeff's experience and thoughts about the race and the car. Prologue starts tomorrow morning. BASS OUT
  24. Yeah, the $1050 for the Kaaz LSD is the going price these days. $330 to fit. Then change your oil to Castrol SF-XAblah blah after 1000 klms. Change again every 5,000ks and the Kaaz is great. Have a look at some of my videos on the skid pan. I'm in first gear, complely rolled to one side, low speed and the pedal is down..... Inside wheel, NO spinning. Great traction out of the corner. Bass recommends Kaaz. Not that that says much :S
