  1. I'd say most people don't know what those letters mean anyway. But no, you couldn't put 'cop lights' on your ride as people might confuse you with being a cop. Impersonating a cop is not treated lightly... 600hp in the wet in any rwd would be monumentally annoying more than anything else. Well if you wanted to drive it hard that is... IMO if you're going to go past 200-225rwkw in a GTS-T you may as well just buy a GTR/EVO and be done with it.
  2. The only way you can wrongfully receive a defect if it wasn't for your vehicle. Police can defect for ANYTHING. Whether you like it or not or don't agree, the entire idea behind a defect is so that the vehicle gets checked someone who has the skills to make sure it's safe. As for Police "not being trained in this area"; it's not about that. It's about practicality, we can't just throw your car on a hoist in the middle of parramatta road and check to see if your FMIC and coilovers are property installed and currently safe. Police as you say have better things to do, which is why you get shipped off to a defect station. As for your licence, whilst unfortunate, isn't corruption. It's just a human error, the officer wouldn't be in trouble... we are all human and forget things. But by all means, report to the ombudsmen if you like... but it'll be a waste of time. If you got pulled over during that time you could just explain that an officer failed to give your licence back to you and it's in the mail. If for some reason you did get a ticket you could contact State Debt and explain the situation and they wouldn't make you pay it.
  3. Fraudulent incorrect fines? Please explain further... What are you going to tell the ombudsmen? "Hey I got pulled over... I didn't receive a ticket. This can't be right?"
  4. We are not automotive engineers or qualified mechanics no. Which is the whole point of issuing a defect, we are sending the vehicle to be inspected by someone with the knowledge and skills to take a look at it. After-marked parts are sold because you can use them in race cars... and whilst I agree with you that most are safe. What's to say it was installed safely? The best advice is get an engineers certificate, that shows you've taken the initiative to protect your vehicle and respect the law. Harley's get defected all the time. In regards to Police "investigating real crime"; -- well, they do. Police are divided up into squads. General Duties, Detectives, Dog Squad, Public Order Riot Squad, there's people whose sole job is to seek out paedophiles on the Internet, there's an armed robbery squad, and so on. HWP is just one of those squads. HWP's job is to ensure road safety, not investigate murders. I'm sorry but that argument of "investigating real crime" is just rubbish. Unless you run your mouth or are doing something stupid your chances of receiving a defect go down by probably 80%. And judging by the threads I've seen about being defected, one of them is usually true. "oMGz I g0t defektd fkn coppperz!!! FMIC zorst and my bonnet for da clipz where can i get a dodgy blue slip???"
  5. If you're going to spend the money atleast buy an EVO or something.
  6. How does one legally mod a car? I guess the simple answer is you can't. However with that said, I've come across cars with high mounts and they went to the trouble of getting it engineered. To me if it's engineered that's good enough for me. Why are Police defecting people for this? I know this stuff seems minor to the general public, and you're right, it is... and is treated as such in my opinion. But if someone old does a backyard job on their car it can be a hazard to themselves and other road users. Which is why it must be engineered... Defects are probably on the bottom of the priority list, the things you mentioned are a priority and are treated as such with operations being conducted. I can't speak for every Police officer but I dare say if someone has gone to the trouble of getting their vehicle engineered, the likely hood of them receiving a defect is very unlikely.
  7. 1. I'm pretty sure as long as it's registered. 2. Yes.
  8. I'd be stepping over the line if I told you what we could see on our computers. However IIRC the V35 is NOT on the prohibited vehicles list.... I'll have another look when I'm back at work so don't quote me on that. About the SS driver, all you have to do is stop him and look under the bonnet. I've caught people driving de-badged GTT's before. You will fool some Police, perhaps the ones who aren't into cars... but not me! I had typed out so much more but again I feel as though I'd be stepping over the line. If I ever get my ass to an event I'll speak about it in person perhaps...
  9. I went from stock air box to the 3A Pod. Had no dramas with it. I haven't used any other pod but it seems ok to me... it makes the sound I want so eh.
  10. You can still be defected even with an engineers certificate.
  11. Well I'd be treated like any other motorist of course. edit: If I do get a ticket it's not good though, I will be spoken to about it. The ramifications depending on what I've done (say for example, 10km over); aren't the worst in the world. But the fact is, I should know better hence why I'd get into a bit of trouble at work.
  12. Wrong forum sorry. Delete this one!
  13. Up for sale are my BC BR Coilovers. They are only 3 months old! (Still under warranty). Price: $950
  14. GTS are non-turbo. GTST's are single turbo. Do some googling or reading on this site and you'll start to learn the basics. :]
  15. It depends. They both don't really have anything to do with each other really. I see no reason why unless your traffic record is atrocious, that you wouldn't just receive tickets for those offences. The alternative is you would spend a day in court and probably come out paying less money (from the magistrate). The offences where you will definitely spend a day in court are drive whilst suspended and drive whilst disqualified. Those offences are charges, so it means you'll have a criminal record if convicted. I haven't been to any SAU events....and in regards to what you say I'm sure it's nothing too bad.
  16. Having a sticker is just a good indicator to Police. It's something I can visually see that's all. At night conducting RBT it's too time consuming to do a rego check on every single car so I'll just look at the sticker. Whilst someone may slip through with a new sticker and having not paid it.... well, life dealt them a good hand that night. But all gamblers come unstuck at some point. You get people all the time with an expired label who say "Oh but I paid it! I just didn't put the sticker on yet" This is very common, and whilst an offence (around ~$80 from memory); Police will do a check either via computer or radio and confirm whether it's registered. If it's registered, I'll let them go on their way and advise them to just put the new sticker on ASAP.
  17. Police would check either via radio or through their computer if the vehicle is unregistered. So that wouldn't work.
  18. I asked because I'm a Cop and we don't usually give out a court attendance notice unless you need to go before the court. By needing to go before the court I mean if you have been in trouble with the law in regards to driving offences (or your mate); and tickets aren't sufficing. Then it's time to go before the court whereby the judge will deal with you. But a simple "Oops I forgot to pay my rego" is not necessary, it's up to the officer really but it's less work for him to give you a ticket and if you don't need to go to court then the magistrate will be a bit "ehhh, why didn't you just get a ticket?" So basically, your friend must have a bad history in regards to driving. I know I didn't add anything constructive to the thread, however I was just curious.
  19. I'm a bit confused, did you get tickets for being unregistered or did they give you a little piece of paper saying you must attend court on a certain date? If it was the latter why did they do that? Have you had this happen to you more than once before? (Or more specifically your mate who was driving) edit: My weekend sucked, I worked!
  20. You'll still take the 1pt. If you were stupid enough to lose that many points, you're stupid enough to think you can go a year without a ticket. Which of course, you're wrong.
  21. 131 444 -- "there's a car that i think has been dumped" Give the LOC and rego and that's it. You're essentially doing it the wayyyyyy more time consuming way. And no we don't work weekends and we close after 6pm!
  22. My computer just exploded. Resize the pictures m8.
  23. It's been said time and time again, if they want it, they'll get it. Get a garage.
  24. Save your money. Or FUQ33U
