  1. You sir, for the first time PHAYL! More cars than girls in your pics? Surely you can't be slipping that much??? Nice pics though.
  2. I think I need to meet you sir. It's always refreshing to meet another like minded soul - for me performance is king - I don't care what badge it wears or in what country it was built.
  3. But just remember even with all that work - blood sweat and tears - it's "apparently" still not custom enough.
  4. The biggest problem with a lot of these "tough guy" responses is that as soon as you exit the vehicle with any kind of weapon, you are commiting a crime, pure and simple, and can be prosecuted as such. I don't know about many of you, but I know any kind of criminal conviction would end my career, and pretty much my life as I know it. It's funny how thoughts like this mellow you with age. It might sound weak, but the "drive to the poilce station" idea sounds best to me.
  5. It would want to be pretty serious to take on even a stock R32 in a traffic light grand prix. In stock-mild form they were never any match for my TE 250 Cortina which would probably have run high 15s or 16s - and this is when they were only a few years old Add some corners however and it was a totally different ball game. One thing in their favour however was the guy I knew who had one never had any trouble with it at all. Probably a real good entry level car capable of reasonable.
  6. "Hotwire" has one, and "dstirls" brother has one as well.
  7. Bought a corsair to replace it. I can't say I'll buy another either.
  8. You may already have had them, but congratulations from the Mrs and I on his safe arrival.
  9. If the vehicle is registered, it must comply - it doesn't matter if it's in pieces, they can defect it so the car has to be inspected before going back on the road. If the car was in a driveway - but not at the owner's address, then an officer can reasonably assume it is going to be driven. The biggest problem with the entire system is that only reasonable suspicion is required for a defect. The onus is on the vehicle owner to prove compliance, rather than the authority to prove non-compliance. This of course leaves the system open to both interpretation, and abuse.
  10. Cubes, I have an Antec TP3 550 that died on me pretty early - I think it was still in warranty but I couldn't find the receipt. Could you have a look at it for me possibly? - it's a brick at the moment so if you kiled it trying to fix it there wouldn't be any problem. Would pay for parts and could provide incentive on request. Would like to get some more use out of a $150 PSU.
  11. I had a look at that, and I agree it's pretty stringent - the main point I was trying to make is that even two helmets that pass that same standard are not necessarily created equal, just because they pass.
  12. With respect to my system, which is what post was quoted with regard to DDR2-800 RAM - I'm not an overclocker. I prefer to buy reasonable hardware that will do all I ask of it for as long as I want it to perform. I don't need every last iota of performance from my pc, just something pretty solid. With regard to the guy looking to build a new system - what are you looking to spend, and what do you have already that you can carry over, like a screen for example. You say you want a gaming machine, but what kinds of games will you play? I'm not having a dig at anyone, but people seem to find it very easy to spend someone elses money on a forum - you are the one that has to live with the choices - you don't have to spend $5k on a gaming system to have fun.
  13. It's interesting how people in this country always speak of tax refunds like it's some kind of "right" or something that's expected. You should only get a refund if you've paid more tax that you've been required to, either by having additional tax witheld, or based on deductions. Also, having a tax bill means you've had use of the money for longer. Personally I'd perfer to pay no tax during the year, having the money sit in my mortgage saving me interest, and then get a big bill once a year.
  14. The older I get the more this keeps appealing to me. Also the older I get the more I realise that having two cars is a better idea, one for the go and the other for the ride. There seems to be too many compromises in trying to achieve both in the same vehicle.
  15. One of the big problems I have with certification, particularly being in an industry whereby I am continually asked to assess to a particular standard - whether it be an Australian Standard, a British Standard, or an American ASTM standard - is the suitability and currency of the standard. One of the Australian Standards we are often asked to test to is simply out of date and hasn't kept pace with acceptable trends - sure the standard is CURRENT, but the fact that the sample passes the standard isn't necessarily an indicator of great quality. So without really knowing the test procedures, limits for the test parameters and how the sample performed with relation to those parameters it makes it really hard to choose something nased simply on a "PASS" rating. Two items have achieved a "PASS" although one could be many times superior to the other. The big prolem is that the information required to make a truly informed choice is simply not available to the consumer, except in rare occasions where a manufacturer makes it available, and then it would only be if the sample far exceeded the requirements. No-one is going to tell you their product only just passed, are they?
  16. Been selling some property this year Pete?

    Brake Pads

Pete, perhaps consult the manufacturer of your brake rotors to find a pad that will perform well with them - as you mention you don't want something that will chew your rotors too much - the pads are there to be the sacrificial material. I've also heard great things about the Ferodo DS and TS series pads, and the only thing negative you tend to hear about Ultimates is "DUSTY!". I've heard good things about EBC Greenstuff, although the Ferodos are supposed to behave similarly and be kinder to rotors. Also the Redstuff are allegedly quite harsh on rotors but a great grabber once warm. Please note all of the above is merely second hand information gained by word of mouth from other parties experiences with the products - I've not tested any of them.
  18. Threads like this one restore my faith in this community - that it actually IS capable of vigorous debate without the deterioation of the thread. With regards to that certification comany CSi - there's a reason thair sticker has that "funny" looking mark on it, apparently they are the only company that can use it: http://www.csi-certification.com/ It seems they are a legitimate certification company, although their client list seems to consist mainly of Chinese manufacturers. My theory on helmets (and many other things incidentally) has always been - use what's recommended by the guys that actually do the activity for a living.
  19. Hello lads, long time no see. Just built myself a new machine, wife wasn't super happy. Asus P5E-X38 Intel E8400 4GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 800 Corsair HX620 PSU Antec P182 Case Leadtek 9800GTX Pioneer 212D SATA DVDRW (from previous box) 4 x WD 500GB SATA (grrr the 640s were out of stock and came in the next day) Viewsonic 28" LCD VX2835wm (ok I had this for a few months) Hopefully this will keep me entertained for a while, with only a CPU upgrade once applications actually start using multiple cores properly.
  20. Do it Darren. I'm sure you'll love it.
  21. Spotted a bayside blue 34 vspec on Cross Road this morning, about 8:30am. Noice.
  22. Was wondering when you'd notice who that was.
  23. Here's the most recent data I have on wheel track and ride height for a skyline. Track is measured from the centre of one tyre to the centre of the next. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&id=138223 Best of luck with it all mate.
  24. G'day Dale, didn't realise you were a member here. Not sure if you've worked out who this is or not. I'll be interested to hear what times it manages at lala.
  25. I think you'll quite like being a bloke Ash.
