RPM Performance Centre private AIR drag day - Sat' 31st May
Nightcrawler replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
Sorry Brad I'm full up too .... David & Ronan already saw the post and RSVP'd. Btw Matt count me in (still) for the day - whilst I'm pissed off about the one lane thing the practise will be invaluable! -

I didn't get offered a free pass .... I am gonna email them back and get them to rectify this!!!

Yeah Matt the vids came out pretty well. I loved my launches but was sorry to see you bog down .... you definitely need some :burnout: on your launch!!! The vids also show how much you pull on me top end - I still can't for the life of me figure out why that is so???? Just goes to show I need to get a cooler in before the drag day :shake:

RPM Performance Centre private AIR drag day - Sat' 31st May

I'm considering not coming due to only 1 lane. Not racing someone else is a whole heap less fun! I don't understand how the insurance cost is so great for 2 lanes .... surely AIR don't pay astronoical prices like your quote for 2 lanes for the street meets. They would be making a huge loss when only around 50-100 cars turn up for the street meet (like March's meet). There was no way there were 100 cars there that day x $50 = $5,000 income for 2 lanes, plus they would have all other costs associated. They are a business, and are there to make money, so this equation doesn't add up! Put me down for a maybe if only 1 lane is available. -
32godzilla .... my best run was the first one - a 13.41 @ 104.5mph - 1.932 60' .... the other 2 runs I missed second gear on both for 13.816 (to beat a thumping V8 Commodore ) & 13.914 For videos of 2 of my runs and 2 of Munros (incl. the Aus record run) go to: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/andnus2002/l...rc=bc%26.view=l for downloads (sorry about the sizes of the files). Enjoy

hehe Matt you noticed .... it looks good to I STOLE it, so there Funny you guys should talk about 'buggering it up' - here is an excerpt from the email I sent to AIR yesterday: ---------------------------------------------- As I'm sure you can understand that I am unhappy at paying $50 to wait around all night and only have a couple of runs. Most of the Skylines Australia group were there and feel the same - we went out for a night of fun and had a miserable night. One of the Skylines waited over 2 hours for scrutineering (due to the drag line blocking entry to the scrutineering area - before they widened it to 4 lanes after complaints) and he only got 1 run (which he messed up anyhow). Needless to say he is VERY upset with the system!!!! ----------------------------------------------

Nope the new clutch is strong as .... I was doing launches at over 4,000 rpm and she held out .... and I don't need any more than that cos I can't see myself bettering my 1.90 60' times Im SURE your car can do under 17s so we'll stick with that just to be safe ROFLMAO -

Just got a reply from AIR re Saturday night: --------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: Adelaide International Raceway To: Andrew Sent: Tuesday, April 08, 2003 12:34 PM Subject: Re: Street meet 5th April 2003 Andrew, I agree it was a shambles Saturday night - the number of vehicles was more than what is normal (both with Comp and Street cars), but it is not a case of the facility not being able to cope - we have twice that number at Comp Meets. The problem is that we have absolutely no idea of how many cars are going to turn up to Street Meets, where we do with Comp Meets and that way we are prepared. To ensure this will not occur again we are changing our next Street Meet to Sunday 4th May whereby we will open the gates at 9.00am and start racing at 10.00am. This way if a large number of vehicles turn up we can run all day - and even all night if need be! Everyone will get the amount of runs that they are happy with! I hope that this solution meets with your approval and you will continue to frequent the Street Meets and get some real runs in. Regards Anna Micheel --------------------------------------------------------- So it looks like we get a whole day AND night of racing for $50. It will be interesting to see how many people turn up for the next one! Also I have the videos of 2 of my runs, and more importantly of John's Aus record run at My Yahoo Briefcase .... will upload more soon

hehe this must be a record number of posts in one hour for this forum .... every time I go back to my work and try to concentrate I hear 'bing bing you have mail'
-
Good idea Matt .... we can organise name Tags and get photos of all the members with their rides. Also, I was thinking we should get really organised for the day and set up a 'schedule of races' so everyone can list who they want to race and make sure they get to run against whom they wish.

lol @ Paul .... aint that true mate?!!!! grrrr Hippy .... Paul's globe was busted AND the fuse blew .... check the fuse! (We went through all this last weekend on the cruise)!

AIR Street Meet 5th April - who's running?
Nightcrawler replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
I sent a very long-winded email to [email protected] (I hope that's the right address) this afternoon about the whole debacle. After my spiel I wouldn't be surprised if they gave the whole of SAUSA a free ticket I complained on behalf of everybody .... but I still think everyone should send in their own opinions - what happened is just not on, in my opinion. Especially for guys like Matt (Whatshisname)! I consider myself fortunate to have had 3 runs in light of other's misforutunes! -
RPM Performance Centre private AIR drag day - Sat' 31st May
Nightcrawler replied to whatsisname's topic in South Australia
Thanks guys .... now I just gotta remember to change out of 1st at 6,000rpm rather than on the redline, actually get it into 2nd properly every time and not to rev out to limiter in every gear (power production falls away a bit over 6,000rpm). Might try taking out my 40kg sub box, as well as spare tyre, tools, jumpers etc too for the 'May Drag Day'! Hopefully then I can get down into the lower 13's! -

For anyone interested my best run was a 13.412 @ 104.5mph .... with a 1.932 60' (little bit of wheelspin right through 1st then a nice fat chirp into 2nd). I did 3 runs and the other 2 runs I missed 2nd on both but got a 1.902 60' on one run for a 13.816 and a 1.993 60' for a 13.914 .... was still quite nervous but learning a lot and getting the hang of it now. I have videos of my runs and some of Munro's too I believe. I will sort them out and upload some shortly. -

Pawley - bring her out and have a go ya big girls blouse .... regardless if it's 'ready' or not, it will set a benchmark for you to improve on. Matt - I reckon where we parked our cars last time is a good spot .... on the dirt/dead grass area behind the pine trees ..... directly South from the track parallel with the entry gate. Since they didn't search our cars last time, I assume we can bring what we want. However, if you're driving I'd suggest a 0% alcohol reading would be necessary, should you be tested For anyones info that hasn't been before - it is MUCH better to get there at 4pm on the dot as the later the night gets, the more cars roll in and the longer you have to line up for/wait between runs. -
bbq is the go .... I am happy to bring some meat if someone else is happy to bring the bbq and cooking skillz

hehe yes I stayed behind to help Paul install his new headlamp globe - to no avail. Then drove slow (so he could keep up) in front of him so he had some idea where the road went .... it would have been darn hard to see with only one fogged up headlight! Then we had a slight detour nearly to Mount Torrens before coming to meet you guys at Hahndorf Subaru .... you guys nicked off down the freeway and disappeared after that - we went into town, did some laps and let some smoke out of my tyres (they are still very full!) .... too bad you missed it! Matt/Diggity - how was JMS after?
-
no worries erin .... it just gave us a chance to open it up in the hills to pass you Sorry I didn't get to introduce myself .... there's always next time! Paul .... u eeeeeeeeediot - all that wasted time - not to mention the knuckle crunching. Oh well at least it's fixed now and not some major problem! Brad .... sif me keep up with a $100,000 GTR pfft
