Hope yours is a little quicker to get here than mine was. With various hold-ups along the way it was 17 weeks from successful bid to drive-away. But hey, even so it was worth it. Mine is a 1998 S2 R33 40th anniversary model GTS25t (the last of them)Including my contribution it has only just topped 70,000km. Even dead stock and with the crap compliance tyres it is a bloody nice car to drive. Go S2 if you can afford it. ('96, '97, '98) mine cost me just under $21k on the road not including insurance.

THE worst offenders are the try-hards with full body-kitted, plain vanilla impressas. The next dumbest are commonwhore S drivers. What's the S for Cletus? Slow? Oh man, don't get me started.

Another vote for "not bad luck" here. Ya pays ya money and ya makes ya choice. Or in this case, ya makes ya choice and then ya pays ya money. You made the choice... Only sure way to avoid speeding tickets is to NOT SPEED. Unless you live in Victoria of course, and then one of their dodgy cameras could probably give you a ticket even if you were parked. Honestly, how many track days could you attend for $565.00? p.s. Not saying that I never speed, but if I do and get a ticket it's nobody's fault but mine.

My '98 had 66,000km on it when I picked it up.... so it can't be that small. How worn is your interior? have to be pretty schmick of the k's are genuine.

What Have You Found In Your Skyline
PTR33 replied to crack's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My CD player still had a CD in it. J-Pop 90's Red. (Japanese Pop music?) Not really my taste... anyone want it? PM me for my address and send me a SSAE. er, if I can find it that is. -
Anyone who thinks they can buy a car, even a limited edition/special/etc, and actually drive it and not lose money is delusional. C'mon guys. you bought your cars to drive, because you like cars. If you were one of the first you probably paid a higher price just like any early adopter. Do you see anyone trying to stop the import/sale of cheap DVD players because they bought one for $2000 when DVD's were first out and these cheap ones will devalue their one? Face it. Having toys costs money, especially if you have one before everyone else. That's why you paid the big bucks. To now turn around and say that no-one else should be allowed to buy one now that they are cheap is just plain greedy and very bad sport. Very unAustralian you might say. I say make sure that the safety side of things is up to scratch and BRING IT ON.

our dollar is smaller too... -
Can you pull a fuse? If so, it's easy.

All I can say is at least you got the fairmont. (no it doesn't deserve a capital letter) The build quality and level of trim may just come up to Jap-Spec povo-pack.

Went last year looking for a new car for my wife. It was convenient to be able to compare all the options in one place and we bought her a Honda Jazz. But other than that I wouldn't have bothered with it.

Damn, my road and driveway are uphill !! :cuss: Looks like I am going to have to drive past my house, handbrake turn at the top of the street and then take a shortcut across my neighbour's front lawn and through the hedge to get into the garage coming downhill all the way... hmmmmmm, haven't done that since the night of the office Xmas party:alcoholic:cheers: . But it did seem like the car ran better the next day too... well, it drove straighter anyway.

Damn, another S2 bites the dust. Glad to hear you are ok mate. Cars are replacable, even sweet ones. Life and limb is a bit harder. They fill airbags with coke dont they? :-)

It's enough to make you want to take the bus, isn't it?

can't seem to upload to gallery so I'll just put them here for a while... Damn, I have to crop and resize to get it under 100kb. Hope there is still enough detail

I have the same problem. I am trying to upload pics and after I hit [submit] it sits there for ages (bloody dial-up) and makes uploading lights on the modem but no new pics ever appear in my gallery. I had two pics work and since then nothing.

I Smashed My Gtr Real Bad.
PTR33 replied to MINES_DATSUN's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I knew someone would take that the wrong way... I don't mean taxi drivers are good drivers. I was trying to get across that someone would need to spend all day every day driving to become "experienced" in two or three years. I have been driving for longer than our GTR killing mate has been alive and I don't consider myself a good driver. A little above average and with some advanced driver training could probably get "up there" but as Clint says "A man's got to know his limitations." I don't have the car control skills of a Brock, McRae or Schumacher. I drive within my skills and the conditions. 26 years behind the wheel and still learning. -
...but what does it run?

Age 20 and good experience in driving. Sorry buddy, but unless you do as much milage as a taxi driver there is NO way you could have enough km's under your wheels to be an experienced driver. Dennis, you're a menace. And the roads will be a little bit safer until you are mobile again. Hopefully a little older and wiser and a lot lower powered. Something like a Datto 1200 would be good methinks. -
Questions about buying a 33 GTS-t
PTR33 replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
okay... No disrespect but seriously look at buying something else as a first car and preferably a non-turbo. Insurance will be a fraction of the cost and unless you are not like the majority of guys you will probably ding it. Have a look at something like a NA Silvia or perhaps a R32 GTS if you must go for a Skyline. Believe me it will be MUCH better in the long run. Hell, when I was 18 I drove a Mini and thought a 1600 Escort was a big step up!! -
Questions about buying a 33 GTS-t
PTR33 replied to r33skylinegtst's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
The answer to ALL your questions is JUST DO IT. If you are the patient type you could look at importing your own car through one of the broker type businesses that are around. I bought my R33 through Prestige Motorsport www.prestigemotorsport.com.au and ended up with a 1998 40th anniversary model GTS25t for $20,600 "drive away" with "only" insurance on top of that. It did take just over 4 months from starting looking to driving away but there were a couple of minor missed connections along the way that probably added a month to the process. I have seen comparable cars on yards going for $28,000 so the savings can be well worth it. I would have saved about another $1500 if I was buying now with the $AU being so much stronger against the Yen. Something to think about. -
Weird things you skyline does

Probably the same way mine did... I have searched all over and I would bet my leftie that my car hasn't got one fitted. The only wierd thing about my 'line is that it makes most falcodore drivers think that they are Peter Brock or Dick Johnson.
