  1. OK then. I would guess that most MKIV Supras already in Australia have been brought in as cheaply as possible - i.e. older. You best bet for a newest possible model is to import under SEVS. If you think importing is a bit chancy use an importer like SVI: http://www.svi.com.au/ Who will import it for you, then there's no risk of the car you pay for not being able to be complied.
  2. Same risk, unless you get it checked out by a pro. However if you had imported yourself you would not be charged the premium by the people who are selling them in Oz.
  3. There's 8 years of the MK4 Supra to choose from. Does it matter whether it's a 1994 or a 2000 build date?
  4. Sounds like he doesn't want your business.
  5. Here's the typical ad I'm talking about (although not a GTR): Just landed - this r32 GTST skyline has seeminly high klms ( 210K klms showing) but was converted from non turbo to turbo so it is likely that the engine and gearbox have not travelled this distance. car has minor dents and scratches but this is a bargain opportunity to get into such a car for such a cheap price. also has 2 deck CD system and sports exhaust. compliance and RWC not included. no offers.
  6. Perhaps not all are trying to profiteer. But there's far too many 89 GTRs that are *just registered*. Connect the dots. If they bought for themselves they wouldn't be trying to sell 2 weeks after it clears the compliance workshop.
  7. Yeah, plenty of 89 GTRs already in the country, with punks trying to profiteer off them! Try the private sale, but insist on a compression test etc. It's like importing but without the waiting!
  8. Look, we admit you may have a point. However, you keep coming across as a ranting and raving loony trying to assassinate all brokers and declare them as murderers. If you were serious about helping people out, you would draw up an article *how to import a car*, and you would provide a comprehensive list of contacts and links to suppliers in Japan. In effect, you would be doing what the brokers do, only for free. Telling people to *search* is very unhelpful. They would rather have their hand held through the process. So, put up or shut up. Please. :flamed:
  9. Yeah I need a left vent and a centre vent, how much are they?
  10. Damn! The silver R32 GTRs are just awesome. Wheels look like Volks.
  11. Yawn. V35 Z33 Maxima Blob city. Where have the master car stylists gone!!!?
  12. Hey, if you want your car to be illegal, and to take years of life off your engine for a couple of seconds off your drag time, go for it.
  13. I'm sure the people contemplating the conversion for an R32 have considered and dismissed such an idea.
  14. Fools. Nissan AND Toyota are two of the world's great automotive manufacturers. It's hard to take you seriously if you're going to bag Toyotas because they aren't Nissans.
  15. Does it have the GTR rear seats (I can't tell), the blue/grey ones?
  16. Do a search on type M. I wouldn't worry about the turbo anyway because you'll want to change the stock turbo at some stage anyway, if only for maintenance reasons.
  17. Don't pay too much attention to cosmetics. Front bar you can change later Spoiler you can change later As long as there isn't any rust to worry about.
  18. I think compliance will be more around $1500 (it was for my R32 GTR - and there is no reason a GTR would cost more to comply than a GTST). Compliance for the 4-door would be even more because that's 2x the intrusion bars. Which one is in better condition? More importantly, do you want 2 or 4 doors? Prices seem about right.
  19. I would think it would be easier to modify the panels and doors on a Coupe GTR to start with, rather than adding 4WD!
  20. There's no substitute for practice. Just because you can drive your FF 1985 Corolla OK in the dry on a sunny day doesn't mean you can handle a FR Turbo R33 GTST in the wet at night. Learn the conditions in a lesser car, so the consequences of making a mistake are a lot less. Too much throttle accidentally on the Corolla? No worries, you go from 60KM/h to 65KM/h Same mistake in the Skyline takes you from 60KM/h to 75KM/h You have to be able to bench press 100Kg before you can bench press 120Kg, etc.
  21. Because you have R32 ATTESSA, which works off a fuse, not like R33 ATTESSA, which works through the ECU
