Why the 1/4 is useless for comparing engine power
2rismo replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Here's the deal, mate. You said that the 1/4 is "useless" for calculating horsepower and I say you're wrong. That's what we're talking about here isn't it??????? Don't give me half-assed scenarios to disprove what i'm saying - the people that use the drag racing calculations to go backwards to hp know ALL of the variables that i've asked you for and more! You're being deliberately cheeky to make a point and it's beneath me to continue. Adrian -

Oh and while we're at it, do your 'examples' run that mph + or - 3mph? Come on mate, give us the info we need to shut you down hard! ;) Adrian -

Errrr.... You're not paying attention are ya?!?!? If you are gonna argue your point, (and I believe you're wrong in your statement, "The 1/4 is useless for comparing engine power"), at least try. Adrian -

What tyre sizes? What diff ratios? What were the race weights? 330ft times? 660ft times? All these things are known and used in conjunction with the calculator. Not once have I suggested that using this tool BY ITSELF is what I was talking about. Come on mate. Oh and btw, what the fark has the sex of the driver got to do with their power figure? Adrian -
From what I here, GCG do better work than upgrading standard turbos to make them exactly as good as a stock standard one so I'm not sure what he's getting at?!?! Jealousy's a curse, mate. I say fu(k him. Adrian

Go Figa indeed Adrian

Mate, 'someone' who thinks they saw 'something' in a magazine counts for very little. Especially considering the 'someone' I may or may not be referring to. Burgundy R33 GTS-T's are as common as dog-shit and you know it. 4 Door Green GTS-T's aren't however - so if you see one getting chopped on the freeway....well......it's probably you Adrian
-
:boinkcar: :boinkcar: :boinkcar: I heard along the grapevine that NV033 got completely chopped by a stock-as S15..... Apparently someone swears they saw it on the way to Newcastle and that the S15 pulled car lengths on you big-time.... Are u able to confirm this at all Steve? :boinkcar: :boinkcar: :boinkcar:

darrinspencer, mate, i've tried email and pm with no response.... are you here?!?!?!?! I would like one please Adrian

I have not had the exhaust dropped and seen the exhaust wheel. I do know that George (previous owner) didn't change the turbo. I do know that Paul G. (the original Australian registered owner and the guy who spent the majority of the money on it) didn't change the turbo or blow it up for that matter. Unless the person you're talking to worked at SSS Automotive and snuck a free exhaust wheel upgrade onto a 2nd hand RB25DET motor they sold Paul when he popped the 1st motor, I think someone's spinning you some real powerful shit. =========================================== Here's the whole story: - Car arrives in Aus circa 1999. - Big Boys Toys comply and register it. - B.B.T. then sell it to Paul G who decides to circuit race the car in the Porsche club of which he is/was a member. - Factory fuel pump shits itself at or around turn one at Oran Park Raceway - leans out motor and melts lots of interal goodies. - Replacement motor is purchased from SSS Automotive in Sydney (as evidenced by the SSS barcode on the timing belt cover - anyone with one of their replacement motors will know what I mean. - Motor fitted, tuned and raced by Paul until he sold it to George (two40) who, much like myself, couldn't afford to own it. - Car sold to me in exactly the same condition and spec as when the replacement motor was originally fitted. - Car raced by me ever since. ========================================== The amazing thing is that if this person is fair dinkum, they're not really showing their talents as a turbo reconditioner/modifier as I am running within 1/10's of a mph of the other std turbo guys when I'm not using the gas. Either I have, as you say, a steel turbine wheel that must be the WORST reco ever done on the factory Hitachi unit and makes it every bit as good as the FACTORY turbine OR It is stock as a rock and my times and mph can be explained by the use of gas and a SHITLOAD of practice and learning "on the job". I'll let you all decide but it really is as simple as this: Using gas adds about 9mph to my T.S. taking it from about 107mph to 116-117mph. If I was running that speed through the traps in an LX Torana on slicks, I should be running 10.8 - 11.2. At the end of the day, I have had more than 80 passes at WSID this year and as per previous posts i've made, my results have gone from less than spectacular to something I'm quite proud of. Thankyou. Adrian

Why the 1/4 is useless for comparing engine power
2rismo replied to Sydneykid's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Absolute hogs-piss. Take one Moroso calculator, apply it to ANY car at WSID and your results will probably surprise the hell out of you, Sydneykid. It isn't just used for 6sec theorhettical pie in the sky dragsters that run sub 6's. Some of the fastest Super Sedan teams in this country and the states use it almost exclusively to estimate the horsepower their engines makes. Dyno's are just an estimate as well. Lets not forget that. At the end of the day, usable, real world hp is what interests most people (leaving out the obvious dyno queens) and MPH is a fantastic and vastly underated measure of power. Excuse me? Adrian

Have you tried calling Express Publications and asking for a back issue? Adrian

But GTR drivers suck the big ones!! lol Adrian

Back in your box, Handley! I'm sorry dyno-lovers but more than 100 years of drag racing mathematics disagree with you. Moroso Calculator anyone? Adrian -
Yes it's true. I use twin, low-mount T51R-SPL's on a bong-pipe manifold. Can't believe I never saw this thread, Steve. Ya big goose. Now my secret is out, (well, to the 4 people that actually ever look at this section of SAU anyway). Adrian

People fit Z32 AFM's to gain a larger tuning resolution from them - NOT because they are physically larger. If you do not have aftermarket engine management, get some or you've wasted your money. Yes it is okay to remove the mesh from the back of the AFM if you feel the urge. Make sure you get it all out though. Adrian

I think that if it is a legitimate operation and an Australian company bound by all the same laws as the rest of the importers in Aus then there should be no problem. Mr. 101, I wouldn't worry. The serious people on skylinesaustralia.com know what to think. Best gnore the kiddies like we do Adrian

How Do I Get Hold Of Prank???
2rismo replied to CAL4SX's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
On more than a number of occassions, PranK has said that he will NOT respond to PM's. Why don't you try [email protected] Adrian -
Happy b'day mate! Adrian
-
You love us all Bitch-man You don't crap on and endlesly on about the 10 your car should do so, well, you may live Adrian
-
You couldn't have possibly missed the point more if you tried. I'll spell it out for ya: People who crap on and on about what their car SHOULD or COULD be capable of because of their power figures but NEVER race it are pathetic. See? Adrian
-
Good boy.
-
Just goes to show that it doesn't matter what state or territory you're in, the people crapping on and on and on about the awesome power their cars make AREN'T the ones that actually put the runs on the board and run them down the 1/4. Typical and pathetic. Adrian

Squizz, invite them on the forum and get em to post their times. At least they'll have a timeslip to upload........AHEM......squizz.......COUGH!!! Adrian
