  1. Grabbed a cheap set of stockies, there's a massive egg on one of the tyres, didn't care because the stockies were almost free. The guy said they'd be fine for drifting Thoughts? Horrific idea? Anyone tried it? I was thinking about abusing the tyres down at WSIDs burnout pad... or using them for twilight drifts.. thoughts?
  2. Guys, what is this? The RX7 forums? Buy a clean, stock GTR. If you get a rebuilt engine, good score. Take it out on the weekends, go to track meets, dump your clutch, all that shit. My R32 was on a stock engine with 225,000kms on the odo, it had two major services, a few pumps replaced, and it was fine. 154rwkw, 14.9s down the quarter on my first ever run. You won't need to rebuild it.. that's just over-kill.
  3. Get a new Golf TSI with an easy exemption Upgrade the turbo and exhaust, keep it quiet and subtle, noone will notice ;] As for the 350, I looked at buying one then I realized they were prohibited. majorly pissed, I was. N/A 33s aren't fast, but they're not slow. If you can live with the fact you're not going anywhere fast, then you'll be fine owning one. My most recent liner is the slowest I've ever bought, but I'm loving it because I'm slowly getting it running smoother and gradually fixing problems with it. The reason I feel comfortable with a slow car is because I'm whacking an RB25DET in it after I get my full license, so in the meantime, I'm using my money to upgrade brakes, wheels, suspension, cleaning it up and putting a proper sound system in it. Once I'm done getting it to stop, handle and sound great, I'll grab a new gearbox, engine, turbo and turbo back exhaust and start tracking / modifying like crazy. So really, this stage of my life is just the "turbo lag"
  4. My mate has one of these sockets at work. It's too late to begin changing my hubs so I'll have to wait till next weekend.\ Thanks for your help guys
  5. 45 min? really? Got a mate that reckons he can help so I'm gonna go say hi now.
  6. im giving tyre shops a call now. i can just see even more problems arising, ay.... eg/ put the cheap nuts on and then can't get them off at home.
  7. Can't find a socket to get it off. I've tried everything I have, and everything SCA has, and I can't go to a tyre shop to remove them because I can't get it home after, and I need it home because I need to change the hubs on them..
  8. Some random shit four studders. I need them off. I don't care if you cut them off with an angle grinder. I want them off today. SMS me: 0426 987 686
  9. The GT3RS was used for comparison. It's an open discussion and anyone is allowed to bring anything to the table. Eg/ that other guy brought in the AMG. As for supercars and such being beaten by Datsuns / Nissans, I think you'll find people are less obsessed with Porches etc. and show more appreciation to a well kept Jap car, or a well restored classic. We go to car cruises, I only gawk at KINGS Ferrari.. why? Because someone once told me that Ferraris can't be "riced", then you look at KINGS, and it looks f**king amazing. Other than that, I'm running around taking pics of all the neat GTRs from all bodies, then going off to the 60's chargers and hotrods. I'd pay more money to sit in a fairlady Z than I would to sit in a Lambo. Curiously, which do you think looks more aggressive? 2011 Ferrari 2011 GTR
  10. Thanks for the clarification Adam.. I always called it a plenum but I wasn't totally sure. I'm curious about what OPs question was.. then again... i'm starting to think it was just cleaver advertising/spam.
  11. Err... OP... are you getting whatever this is called: (I've never actually learnt the name of this...)
  12. The apexi thing sounds interesting. I'll have a look into it. I wanted the valve mufler because I like a nice, loud exhaust, but my girlfriend won't stop complaining about it if I get the last one I got (which I loved). Can't really find good second hand ones, either. I need a new cat, and I figured, "eh, why not fork out a little extra and get a new catback". Then I thought I might get headers.. I'd be interested to hear the sound of the car after installing them. Hey JD, CHE are good in the sense that I dropped my liner off there at 9, picked it up 5pm, it had been sitting there for like.. half the day. The thing that annoyed me was that even though the exhaust was tucked up perfectly, he didn't install the O2 sensor after the cat, and if he did, it would stick down and hit the ground on the next pot hole. Might give them a call when the tax cheque comes in.
  13. So you want to put an intercooler on an n/a?
  14. Yeah, this is how my mechanic makes sure he's installed the clutch properly.
  15. I just spoke to Performance Exhaust at Westmead. Looking at around 1700-ish for 2.5" mild steel piping. 100 cell hi-flow cat. 8x4 resonator. The guy sounded like he knew his shit, was very helpful and quite frankly ran a great front. I'll probably pay him a visit if I get the cash xD
  16. Yeah, it's really expensive :S And it's not an xforce exhaust. Xforce don't do an exhaust system for a non-turbo Skyline, so I have to get the piping and such custom made (apparently). I'm essentially looking for 2.5" mandrel bent piping, new headers, new cat, varex muffler. For future reference, the following people are on xforces recommendation list for my area (toongabbie) Performance Exhaust, Northmead - 9683 5688 Budget Exhaust, Merrylands - 9637 0455 Carline Mufflers, Seven Hills - 9838 9999 Charleston Exhaust, Blacktown - 9621 6695 I'll give them all a call and post the quotes.
  17. Hey Nat, welcome to SAU So you have a bog stock R32 GTST? Nothing wrong, nothing removed, nothing modified? I can't understand how it wouldn't have a compliance plate... Check your door frames. You're looking for a green plate, or a pink sticker. Have a read through here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/155844-no-compliance-plate-on-car/ I'm pretty sure that car would have had to be complied to be registered in VIC. Have you taken it to your mechanic for an inspection? If not, go down and have a chat to them as well.
  18. Okay, so I've got a quote for a full exhaust system with an xforce vertex adjustable muffler from these two companies... Castle Hill Exhaust: $1450 Liverpool Exhaust: $1850 Liverpool exhaust seemed a little more flexible with their price, though. Regardless, Liverpool put up a good front; explained the exhaust I would be getting, all aussie parts where available, custom-made, mandrel bent piping etc. CHE seem a lot more in-out-done.. but in a good way. Anyone had any experiences with either?
  19. 170km/h in a hyundai excel isn't difficult, either.
