  1. i don't think it was the base battery... i dunno... the guy knew his stuff and we haven't had a problem with it yet. On another note i had my alarm completely installed today. My dad had taken it down at 8 in the morning on Friday, and by 4 they were still working on it, asked him to bring it back at 8 on saturday morning...apparently there was only an hours work left but it turned out to be about 3... anyways, got the car back and the alarm is fantastic. Not a problem yet. Very quality installation and all-round nice guys to deal with. Can't see any scratches or marks on the car and the section of dash that had to be cut is neat and clean. If you need any auto-electrical work done then definately see the guys at the Tuggers auto eletrician down near the Wollworths servo.
  2. PuppaDuck, reminds me of what i saw outside my college once... next to it is a library and often people from the college come up the street hammering their cars, showing off etc. Anyways, i was waiting outside there one day, saw a police van pull up behind a few other cars and the driver go into the library. Being unable to see the police car from their end of the street people would start gunning their cars up the road then slamming their brakes on the minute they saw the police van. Priceless
  3. I'm pretty keen on the Evo, nice looking car and a proven track record. Very nice indeed.
  4. I haven't read all the responces yet, there are some good arguments going around here, but i'd just like to note one thing. The other day my dad and i were driving my Skyline up to the city, and we had people look at the car and try and do stupid things, take off before us at the lights, speed up past the legal limit to get past us as one Toyota Camry kept doing... just simple things like that... My dad could have put his foot down and went straight past this smart *** Camry driver, but he didn't. The reason was we had nothing to prove. I've noticed this with a lot of people who drive expensive performance vehicles (obviously not everyone), but seeings as they know their car is powerful they seem less inclined to put their foot down and show off. Now for a comparison i know a few people driving older cars with big exhaust systems, performance stickers etc. mostly these cars are hatchbacks and things like Civics, yet they often take the opportunity to put their foot down, to try and prove their car isn't just a stock Honda Civic or whatever... I realise this doesn't have a heap of relevance to this argument but it is some food for thought.
  5. My cars booked in today for a full alarm system at the auto electricians in Tuggers next to the Wollies servo... never dealt with them before so i'll post up here how that goes for future reference.
  6. Yeah, they're always across the road late at night. Almost hit one the other day and we were only doing about 35km/h...
  7. My mate hit a baby roo last night at about 2am leaving my place, right in my street. He drives a 4WD, his car was fine but he killed the roo. The worst part is i told him not to go fast down my street cause i know they're always about yet he still hit one. Anyways, sorry about your car, and good luck with the repairs.
  8. Yeah, when i went to get rego the lady didn't seem to know about imports, and she tried to get a vehicle ID check or something which it turned out (after a few minutes on the phone to Dickson) that she didn't need. Oh and when you go to get rego, you have to pay a $61 fee for first time registering a vehicle. Don't you love the government and all the hidden charges and hassles just to get a car on the road?
  9. Yeah, i agree with you there. The badge on the front of the 32 sets it off nicely.
  10. Figured it's worth posting, the NRMA 24 Hour Battery guy showed up today nice and early. Wasn't the most talkative guy but he was very quick. Tested my original battery which was dead, and managed to take it out and put the new one in without removing my rear strut bar so i'm pretty happy about that. The replacement battery was $109 and comes with a 2 year warranty.
  11. Nice. Will go down to the shopfront later on and look into it.
  12. I prefer it without the sticker, looks cleaner and slicker. Same with the badge on the bonnet, looks better without it. The Nissan symbol on the boot is cool though.
  13. yeah, i figured that, some work some don't. But it's also the same with some originals. And it sometimes skips if you close the door to hard im more concerned about the speaker for the time being.
  14. Yeah, post up here what happens... Im seriously considering some slim black and white plates...sexy...
  15. I THINK I'LL TAKE MY CAR THERE! nah, that's pretty nasty stuff mate... I got a flat battery in my line... NRMA guy is coming tomorrow...
  16. Yeah, i just want shorter plates. I've got no FMIC so i don't need to worry about the airflow in that regard...
  17. yeah, my car had been buffed when i first bought it. I'm glad the logo wasn't on the bonnet tho, i had a fear that if it was there some idiot might try and rip it off. I remember when i first started looking for Skylines i came across a series 1 in a car yard where someone had taken off the badge with a screwdriver... not good.
  18. My car doesn't have the sticker either, and no idication that it ever did. Also, being a series II the bonnet mounted S logo was taken off (which i later found in the glove box, Thankyou Japanese owner! ) I'm 99% sure my car has never been resprayed either.
  19. don't want to side mount, kinda like it to be in the centre...isn't it illegal to cut the plates tho?
  20. Yeah, seen that car heaps, was in front of it yesterday... very nice vehicle... needs a bigger exhaust though, the standard one is kinda sad...
  21. About the plates, i noticed the standards fit just fine in the rear bracket, but at the front they're a few centimetres too long and had to be bent to fit in the mounting brackets. It looks pretty crappy. Is it possible to get a smaller plate for the front and how much would i be looking at for that? I want to keep it blue + white like the standard plate on the back too.
  22. nah, Canberra unfortunately. I'm not too good at taking things like that apart so i think i'll leave it. Don't have the money to upgrade stuff, only got the car yesterday... Oh well. Any other ideas? i'll probably take it to a car audio shop and get them to look at the speaker and if need be replace the rears with something cheap. The headdeck has to stay tho.
  23. I agree with 2BNVS, tougher penalties are a good idea but it all depends on the individual. Some people will never learn until they crash and injure themselves or someone else. I think everyone here has more sense than to do 205km/h on a public road, but obviously that girl didn't. Just be happy she didnt kill someone else with her own stupidity.
  24. I love it!
