Geoff are you leaving the twin setup on the 25? or you want to sell it to me:) I am looking at the full HKS GTRS kit but I have a forged pistons in my 25 and would really like a responsive 300rwkw, I think some steel wheeled 34 turbos would do the trick nicely! Would I be well served to look at a whole 26 head? or am I being crazy and should just go for the GTRS..... hmmm

What I don't understand when I see all the 4wds lined up at the primary schools is that children are SMALL... the have little legs that don't even get to the floor when there sitting in the back and yes they have 3 bags but the bags are fricken SMALL... everything is small because they are small little people... I mean you could fit like five of the little bastards in the back of a 33! ... I just don't buy it.... You don't need a 4wd to transport midgets, you could shove them in the back of an RX7 and they wouldn't care, especially if you had TV's back there

Awesome day once again... big thanks to all the organisers and helpers (especially Bec who was unwell but still running around getting people organised!) Whoever is in charge of the weather for these things should take a bow, perfect again! I had trouble keeping the car straight as usual and hit more cones than Cheech but had a ball regardless good to chat with a few people I hadn't met before and put some names to faces, one day the missus and I will stay for the Sat night festivities, sounds like you all made Roy proud!

Happy Birthday Al! see ya on Sat... for the GTSt wars!

The stock airbox only gets flow through the snorkel... the hole that is left when you get rid of the stock SMIC and go to an aftermarket FMIC setup can be used to duct air in, however it is pretty much a waste as the filter element of the ARC box is laid facing upwards towards the bonnet... so the air you have ducted in will just be hitting the bottom of the airbox
-
well from a performance standpoint they are similar to any aftermarket airfilter, in that by seat of the pants I can't tell the difference (no extra power)... induction note is very nice as you would expect sucking air through a metal box and it looks very trick in the engine bay... I think its better than the HKS pod that I originally had in there as it isn't as prone to heat soak, however I still can't work out how to get a cold air feed to it as it sits exactly like the stock airbox, just imagine the stock box with the lid off, that's it... can't use the stock snorkle either as the ARC box sits too high which is because of the FMIC piping... so yeah looks good, sounds good, and works fine... if your really curious I may go outside and take a photo

I know its probably not big enough, but I would take a Golf R32 over F6 anyday

Syncro On 4th Is Not Happy
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I am pretty sure the 32GTR and 33GTSt boxes are very similar and I am now seriously considering a freshen up before I do damage to more than just the synchro, thanks for your help -

you can get laser pyrometers these days... just point at the tire and it gives you a readout Hey SK I have found that I like the rear swaybar on full hard and the front on medium in my GTSt to eliminate mid corner understeer... it does get a little taily on corner exit with too much throttle and spins the unloaded wheel like buggery... would upgrading from the stock viscous diff to a mech 1 way help? or do I need to back off the stiffness of the rear bar? -
Syncro On 4th Is Not Happy

Syncro On 4th Is Not Happy

ah okay so some redline oil should fix it up... cheers guys -
Hi guys, I had a problem with 4th gear at Sandown on the weekend... when shifting from 3rd to 4th, close to redline say above 6,000rpm, I was getting a nasty crunching sound... now it would still go into gear fine and it was only happening when I was trying to shift quickly (if I eased it in there was no sound, but it meant for a fairly slow change) ...so my question is, do I need to get the box out asap and fix it or can I get away with a few more trackdays/drags etc without losing 4th gear altogether? Am I stupid for not worrying about it? (Maybe I can smash the whole lot so I am forced to go out and by an OS giken gearset hehe)

Question Re Brake Pads For An R33 Gtst
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hey its aliiiive! yep pads were great all day... no fade, in fact they got better as the temp rose... however I should point out I wasn't really standing on them until the last session when I got some confidence and started trying to brake later/deeper... they were a bit smelly after that session but they felt fine on the drive home... I haven't taken them out so I can't comment on the pad wear and I have black rims so I haven't noticed any dust! overall I am pretty impressed, the only downside I can see so far is that they are a bit wooden on the way to work in the mornings and there is a faint squeeling but once the heat gets into them they are fine for the street we will see how much use I can get out of them but for the time being they are a thumbs up -
Well that was fun... perfect weather for my first track day! big thanks to all the guys who put the day on and everyone who helped out being flaggies etc... also thanks to the WRX club guys (murph & Jason) who were my instructors on the day... they let me fly solo in the last session and I grew some balls and recorded my PB for the day 1.32 which isn't toooo bad I didn't think? but mostly just glad I brought home the car in one piece, the brakes, oil temps and tires were great all day (I mustn't be driving hard enough hehe)

Question Re Brake Pads For An R33 Gtst
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
thanks for the responses guys... my mechanic in all his wisdom talked me into a Jap brand pad called N-Brake (never heard of them)... apparently he has used them in a number of circuit 300zx with good results... they weren't cheap either at about $250 for the front set... so yeah should be interesting to say the least! Had the fluid changed to high temp stuff and had the disks checked and machined... now if the brakes go spongy by the second lap I will be emotional... should have just gone with the Ferodos but I am too easy to talk into stuff... oh well -
I live on Dandy rd just up from Chapel st and the number of loud exhausts on crap cars, with their owners desperately trying to break traction despite their auto box is amazing... every now and then I hear some gate and some rb limiter and I have a little smile... the crotch rocket pilots are the worst tho, screaming past my window at fifty million km/h, there all nuts oh and the maroon 33 with the stockie wheels that launched past my place the other day... the idea is to control the throttle or change gears, instead of bashing the limiter in first gear like 10 times... twas ghey

Question Re Brake Pads For An R33 Gtst
NickR33 replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
okay thanks guys, thought the Bendix might be a bit underdone for the track will look into the Ferodo pads... now the tricky part... part numbers for the DS2500 anyone? (cos I know there are heaps of people out there who just love writing down part numbers...and then filing them away just in case someone might ask them... one day...you know...cos its fun...) -
Hi guys, need to replace the pads in my car and would like to make a run to Bursons to make my mechanics life easier... soooo anyone have the part numbers for some Bendix Ultimates for an R33 GTSt? ps. will the Bendix pads hold up at Sandown? Tires are Azenis RT615's and Sandown is pretty hard on brakes (so I have been told)... if anyone has a better suggestion feel free... cheers

So what your saying is people will speed no matter what they drive or who they are? Wouldn't it be safer if all these speeding people actually knew how to control the car in an emergency situation? Yes it worries me when the chick in the x5 tears off next to me at the lights and then punches the amber, whilst speeding, down the street... but I would feel a lot better if she had basic car control skills let alone advanced skills...

I wish they would hurry up and bring V8 Supercars out on Xbox 360 so I can start practising!
