  1. does anyone know what Best Motoring dvd this is from?
  2. if you have a porka and its not a 911 then you need to rethink your priorities... for instance if you have a porka and its a Cayenne may god have mercy on your soul (or lack of soul)... if you have a porka and its a boxter then your just like my sisters ex bf, and he was a MAJOR dick (he was a pom so its not all his fault)!
  3. I just got RDA gold slotted and dimpled, throught these forums, for a very decent price but I am not allowed to quote pricing in here... check user rs73's group buy in the classified section... however I am not sure how they compare in performance to the DBA's...
  4. I have been considering NOTGTR... for my gtst hehe
  5. there is almost no difference between a 'highflow' cat and a straight through pipe in terms of performance... I know because the 2 bolts holding my cat to the front pipe came out last week and I was driving around for a few days with no muffling of any kind... the noise was deafening and sounded like crap below 3000rpm... I was even turning the ignition off at light because I was so ashamed... now its fixed the performance difference is hardly noticable and that is with a cat, resonator and muffler bolted back on... so just get a proper cat and do everyone a favour
  6. bought Test Drive Unlimited for the 360 on the weekend and I have to say it's damn good (surprisingly)... leaves all the NFS games for dead... they have mapped the whole island of Ohahu in Hawaii... too cool
  7. I have 215's on the front and 615's on the back at the moment (GTSt)... They aren't noisy, they don't tramline badly and they are actually better than 'normal' road tires in the wet... BUT the 615's look to wear much quicker than the 215's... I have done 2 track days, a motorkhana and about 4,000 road kays on them and the 215's have plenty of meat left whilst the 615's are almost down to the indicators... however they are on the back and responsible for putting the power down so a little hard to get an accurate comparison one thing to note though, with the stiffer sidewalls they do transmit much more of the little bumps and cracks in the road than normal road tires... can be annoying on bad roads great cross over tires but if your after good times on the circuit get some RE55's or equivalent
  8. my understanding is fronts are okay, rears are different
  9. speak to Mavric on the forums... he did a great job on my car
  10. I get 195km/h down the straight at Sandown ... which is redline in 4th or about 5,000rpm in 5th (speed cut) ... BTW its way off past the 180km/h mark on the speedo but I have a peak speed function on my defi unit ...
  11. depending on size about $350 a corner I think interesting point on the RE55's... maybe once I get around to doing the turbo I will step up to a set
  12. yep Azenis are the goods... I really like them and if I can afford to keep running them I will... I use them daily on the street as well so they get plenty of use but have stood up pretty well so far haha so I will be the cheater in the 'standard rwd' class... except Bel and Juz you have lighter cars... I need more grip to stop the whale flying off the track into the tirewall due to its immense girth... or something
  13. its the HKS pod + heat soak... is it shielded from the heat of the engine bay? I had an HKS pod, unshielded, and the heat soak even on mild days was terrible... changed to an ARC box and it is much better... however its a turbo so will always feel better at night or on cold days regardless FMIC actually helped a lot with heat soak too... I know they are supposed to block the airflow to the radiator and all that but I don't have any overheating issues... the stock SMIC used to heat soak sooo quickly
  14. Car: R33 GTSt Modifications: SAFC, EBC, FMIC, cams & pistons, air filter Power: 200rwkw Suspension: King springs, Bilstein shocks, Whiteline swaybars, pineapples, camber/castor bushes Tyres: Falken Azenis RT 215 (front) RT 615 (rear) Brakes: stock with N-Brake NA-P pads (American brand) Times: Circuit Name: Sandown Lap Time: 1:32.17 New Time: 1:29.75 Changes: Nil
  15. I almost did this exact same thing on the weekend and thought for a moment damn, I am going to have to post in the crash thread! I went wide at the sweeper just before the kink... out on the grass at about 160kmh was a new experience for me!... had too much speed as I entered the sweeper and knew if I tried to get hold my line the back would come round and I would end up like the 2 cars in that vid^^ .... yes more practice for me only issue was my better half was being a flaggy at the kink and saw the whole thing... she doesn't trust me anymore when I tell her I am 'taking it easy' hahahaha
  16. look I can't give a before and after so I am would be lying if I said I have any concrete proof... however I do seem to make the power at relatively low boost as rev210 would suggest I had the SAFC in and tuned before the cams so no help there and I cannot be sure I picked up ANY power... however the last dyno tune before the cams was also pre FMIC and it made 170rwkws's... the cams and FMIC were added and SAFC tuned again (to pull even more fuel out) and I got 208rwkw... different dynos, different days I just wish the tuner had done the before graph as I had wished BTW the cams were always planned to go along with a turbo upgrade, was just curious to see what would happen if I did it the other way around
  17. no I don't... tuner forgot to run it up beforehand as I had asked there are definately better bang for buck mods but I wouldn't totally reject the idea of poncams on a stock turbo rb25...
  18. Try it and see? worst case scenario you have to fork out for some management... or send your ecu back to be reflashed... I would let Toshi know what you want to do and see what he says, as its his tune
  19. there is a small gain to be had on a stock turbo RB25... I have made 208rwkw with SAFC, EBC, exhaust (stock dump) and FMIC at 10psi WITH Tomei 256 degree poncams... even taking into account a 'happy dyno' there is an argument that they will give you some kw's at the top end and help it make power all the way to redline and not taper off at 6,000 dyno chart is attached, you be the judge but I think they are great BTW they are set at 0 degrees and work with the stock springs and VVt
  20. yep set a pb and I guess that's what its all about... possibly could have gone faster but the wobble from the rotors in the braking area was getting real bad and I had a big off at the sweeper when I ran wide onto the grass... managed to get it back onto the black stuff and still pointing the right way, so decided to call it a day at that point;) next time I am going to pack a spare set of undies and I won't have to go home to change hahaha majorly addicted now and hope to make it to more rounds of the SAU championship next year 2 wheels is fun (and cheaper... yay)
  21. you will be running extremely rich and will definately need some sort of tunable management... maybe Toshi can remap it again to allow for the increased airflow? you won't have to worry about R&R as Toshi would have removed it? and as long as your not making over about 220rwkw (give or take) you should be fine with fuel supply... not sure how the SMIC will hold up with that power out on the track but you will see hey! how come your getting the oil cooler? I did about 12 flying laps last weekend and didn't have any problems with oil temp... have you had some overheating at the track?
  22. bah porkas... the black 911 had a BIG spin right in front of me in the first corner... the look on his face was priceless... the speed with which it just suddenly swapped ends was frightening you guys just need some stockish GTR's to take to the track... but the again what does Scotsman do around there, 1.21's or something!? hehe that little blue S2000 was cool... supercharged and running pretty decent times... I followed him for a bit but he was lightening quick through the corners... I want one
  23. that was a great day, only 33 cars so plenty of track time... I went home at about 2:30 after having about 25 laps... in one of the morning practice sessions I had 12 clean flying laps! definately recommend the maserati days to anyone who is keen, the guys are pretty relaxed and friendly... they even told me to pinch some metal valve caps off a Dino that was in the car park to pass scrutineering hehe... I now have a severe case of thrashed brake rotors but managed a pb of 1:29.75 and you guys in those 3 GTR's are all mad... officially
  24. dear god I want an FD... ...evo's just don't excite me... too high, too many doors, too fiddly... but then again I have never been in a really quick one so I may change my mind one day
  25. not concerning drift but think its on topic... adj. swaybars are good too because it is easier to change the handling balance front to back than trying to swap out springs all the time... example: motorkhana I have the rear bar on full hard and the front on medium as it allows the arse to swing round when doing handbrake turns etc... and the front doesn't push for circuit I can just undo 2 bolts and back the stiffness of the rear bar off to whatever suits and if a I am super keen stiffen up the front if I am still getting oversteer any more than those adjustments and some simple tire pressure stuff and I lose motorvation... you would have to be super experienced to start messing with spring/damper settings or have heaps of track time up your sleeve
