  1. grow up mate, most people use their car for essential travel [work etc], they can't afford, or may even want, to damage/ break their car on weekends just so they can act tough on a faceless forum. it's a bit rediculous to take you seriously when you write that people are "soft" and need to 'harden up' if they don't do track days, drift nights, or that really tough pastime of test-n-tune. don't get me wrong, I have nothing against going to the track and doing the best time the car/driver is capable of; but to call those that don't, for whatever reason, softies etc, is childish.
  2. be nice!!. live and let live. now someone will post a new 'topic'... "Spotted"; [Cocks Hanging Out]!!.
  3. I know there are plenty of carpark spaces at the drags; how many at the latte shop, will need 500 to 1000 spots???. you could buy a latte [of sorts] from the old guy who ran the food van at the BWCP anyway. people met at tha park to; talk, see, touch, all things cars, engines, wheels, sound systems etc. if, whilst doing all this car 'stuff', you wanted a simple cup of coffee, then the old food van usually rolled up!!.
  4. I agree with this; and the BWCP meets were not specific to any car enthusiast group [ie. draghead, driftheads, showheads, potential revhead] no matter what you were into there was usually somehting of interest there to look over. I reckon anywhere between Brizzy and the GC, close to the M1, plenty of space and lighting. pretty hard to find all these requirements!!. initially I thought Harbourtown carpark would be a good spot, but found it is private [not public] property. which means, as I understand it, that car clubs could be "moved on" by security/police. perhaps some forum member with the legal 'smarts' could comment on tis?.
  5. a few cars park along the road in front of BWCP to chat; but only on adhoc basis and they don't stay long. still plenty of cars cruising around on Sat nights though.
  6. hi All, now that the BWCP has been effectively excluded as a Saturday Night meeting place for car enthuiastists, I guess an obvious question would be "where to now?". I know that there are many and varied opinions of the value of large meet-ups like those that occurred at the BWCP, my opinion is that it was a valuable part of car culture here on the Gold Coast and the greater Brisbane area. contrary to certain 'crusading' councillors' beliefs that it was a Sat-Ni meeting place, exclusively for 'hoons, drug dealers and other undesiable elements of the community', during the 6 years that I regularly attended the BWCP, I saw very little of the lawless 'Hoons and Undesirables'. [those that did cause trouble were usually dealt with quickly by the lurking traffic cops]. I did see plenty of people enjoying their hobbie/passion/interest in cars etc. as those that ever attended the BWCP 'meets' will know, thousands of car enthusiasts used this "public" area to meet-up, talk cars, show their car, view cars, listen to car audio, or just to pick up knowledge, tips etc. the last time I looked, Qld was still a 'free' State [not sure about NSW!!] and Queenslanders were still free to gather lawfully to pursue common interests in "public" places. I know that the BWCP area was up for redevelopment but what got under my skin was how certain councillors deliberately targeted car enthusiastists using this area, as public enemy number 1. enough said on the subject, from me. the purpose of this topic is to see if there is an alternative, legal place for a meeting of the type/size that used to occur at BWCP: in our little part of the world. comments, for or against the above, will be read with interest!!!. regards

    Car Stolen!

what's the point of this reply?. the bloke has just lost his car and a swag of other personal stuff; I don't think he needs to be ridiculed and accused of trying to 'scam' insurance. a pretty ordinary/negative attitude toward a fellow SAU member!!. he has obviously posted on this forum looking for help, not criticism.
  8. an unexpected kick in the nuts!!?. no ,no, no; the reference to being 'queen hit' was a poorish attempt at humour: 'king hit', 'queen hit', get it?. guess I need to work on that one!.
  9. thanks for clearing that up; also the info on the contents of Herr Hitler's 'scrote' is a good read. got the Col Boogey March on the brain now!!!.
  10. my point is; if a person lacks self control, he shpuldn't put himself in a position [ie.being a bouncer], where he may do serious, unintentional damage to some 'numbnut' who is not worth going to jail over. also, on the "garbage" theme; yep, I've been king hit, even queen hit [that one hurt the most], but this is not a good place for a "pissing contest" so won't go on!!.
  11. professionals keep their "buttons" well hidden. 'uncontrolable rage' is not part of the job description; that's how people get seriously injured and it's what sometimes, gives bouncers a bad rep.
  12. I thought it was Tojo who was the one-nutter!!.
  13. no worries. can't see from the pics, do you have the high mounted stop light in the rear window[ also required by compliancing regs]?. mine has one; I don't like it either!!.
  14. yeah, when I got my '92 GTR complied I was told that. I reckon the side lights spoil the look too; can't understand why authorities insist on having side lights on some models and not others; seem rediculous!!.
  15. looks great; also, like the removal of side guard indicators.
  16. bouncers get paid good dollars to control themselves, [anger is not part of the job description]. they do not get paid to physically 'punish' people who step out of line. many bouncers step over the line and dish out savage, unwarrented floggings. I have a mate who had an eye knocked out by an over-enthusiastic bouncer...luckily, it was a false eye, so he just put it back in the socket [after washing it with beer]!!!. shocking waste of beer!!.
  17. well now you have me confused. you wrote that Brazil was the "glory country" in regard to proving the economics of biofuel production. how so? are they going to leave their huge oil reserves in the ground?. are they going to give up their position as one of the world's two biggest coal exporters?. I don't think so. you also say that biofuels are more efficient and cheaper; clearly not the case, ...yet. if they were, economics would have ensured them a greater share of the market; considering the technology to produce these fuels has been there for decades. my point on "saving the planet" is that with the increased production of biofuels, the world price of grain has soared . prices are so high, that poorer governments/aid agencies of the world can no longer afford to feed the starving. put simply, the world does not have the ability to both, feed 6 billion people, and to fill fuel tanks with biofuels. the biofuel lobby has obviously forgotten the hungry. one other point, you write that supply and demand come into play and we need to deal withit. I don't have aproblem with that except that there isn't a supply problem. there is plenty of oil out there in the market and the exporters are nowhere near full production. what is new in the oil market is a great increase in "speculators". they are not refiners, they act like middle men. that increases the price. so, why should we all pay a "tax" so greedy traders and oil producers can milk the world dry.
  18. yep, I had same deal except the truck was carrying matresses. a queen size inner spring fell off [100kph] hit he wind screen the slid down the side of the car, wipeing out the electric door mirror. he stopped to pick up the matress but wouldn't own up to the damage. in the end I paid for the damage; it was going to cost me more to chase the truckie. you are up the proverbial creek, without a witness/es. good luck with the paint job
  19. plenty of empathy from me, my GTR was stolen last Oct. the lowlife that stole the car is doing a 3yr sentence now, but I didn't get te car back. hope you have better luck. the thieving scum seem to have no idea of the impact on the victim; I'm still searching for mine [or parts of it] I search every 'parts for sale' ad, and follow every car that remotely resembles mine. one day!!! regards
  20. I come from the big cube V8 era, had a XY 351 ute before the GTR, so probably go to a 70's monster and help the oil companies get richer.
  21. it's great to grab the moral high ground: and while you are up there think about the consequences of soaring fuel costs for truckies, farmers, trawler operators, etc. if fuel goes to 3.80L [$2 above present], on your example of 60L/week, thats an extra of $120/week which is $6000/yr, great!!. and that $6k is only the start of the real cost, it will impact every single purchasable item, especially housing and food, which are both pretty hard to do without. also, Brazil has just discovered the biggest oil find in 30 years, sounds like they are doing their bit to save the planet!!. that will fit in nicely with their policy of clearing rain forest to grow palm oil for the bio fuel hoax. we, the developed countries, will have plenty of bio fuel, and the poorest of the world will starve because they can't afford grain. great solution ..
  22. can't blame the Saudi's and others that control the world's oil reserves for ripping us off whilst they can: once their oil runs out they will be back to filling egg timers with the only other resource they have, "sand". it's going to be tough for the Shieks' when they have to trade their mercedes grande in on a second hand camel, imported from Australia.
  23. "ROACHES" are bisexual
  24. new blood: $125 regards
