  1. you're are not a hoon unless you: a. possess a lower IQ than your car, and can prove it; b. wear out tyres in less time than it takes Bob Jane to fit them, and can't understand why; c. believe that burnouts on public roads is coooool; d. have little or no ability to make a good decision whilst behind the wheel; f. have no regard for the safety of other road users; g. have purchased a good car and turned it into a haggard PoS within six months; h. whine when the cops get serious. i. believe that tyres and bearing surfaces regenerate overnight, whilst the car is parked in the garage, but can't prove it; and j. are a compulsive "showoff" just a few that came to mind; must be more!!. finally, anyone with common dog-sense will be able to identify a 'hoon' from an 'enthusiast':: those that can't, don't matter much... until they get elected to positions of authority; not much 'common dog-sense' evident among Gold Coast City Councillors!!. no matter if you are a hoon, drug dealer, enthusiast or interested bystander at a car meet; around here, all will be tarred with the same "hoon" brush.
  2. hi, I imported without any problems, but can't say there weren't a few anxious moments waiting to get it shipped, complied and safely in the garage. the adantage of importing is that you can [ as long as you are willing to wait] get the exact car you are looking for, and not settle for a veh that doesn't have all the 'wish list' items. hook up with someone knowledgable/trustworthy over there, tell him exactly what you want, then wait 'til he identifies a target car. if it is the car of your dreams, tell him to bid to a price you are willing to pay; bearing in mind what the car would sell for here. if the car's auction price is over your limit, aniother will come along [that happened to me], if it's auction price is less than your limit [that didn't happen to me], you have a bargain. that is my experience with importing, for what it's worth!!. I am currently waiting for another car to be identified by my agent also. good luck, whichever way you go. regards
  3. BWCP is being totally redeveloped.
  4. It might be 'better' for you to drive around alone; [can't get more dysfunctional than that] but others used to enjoy BWCP. didn't see much circle jerking there; but did see lots of happy people getting together and doing their own thing. seems fair!!.
  5. the spit is ok for daytime sessions, but no lights there, so limited value for night activities, plus it is further for Brizzy cars to travel. Willowbank has the best facilities but from what I've seen on this topic so far, it would not be popular because of the distances involved. I, would personally travel anywhere between the tweed and north Brizzy for a meet up like we used to have at BWCP. Beenleigh area would probably attract the most people/cars IMO. but like you say, the alternatives seem few. in the end, if enough people are keen to get something up and running, it will happen. if not, it will 'die in the proverbial....'.
  6. got to be careful here, last time replyed to you I got in the shit by using the sacred 'rhinorebel' handle. have you anything constructive to write about the topic or is it going to be more drivel about the 'latte set'?. c'mon Fineza, you can do better!!..
  7. yes; that quote was not meant to have 'rhinorebel' included, was actually 'fineline' that I was responding to. if you read his post you may understand why I made the quote. I apologise for that mistake!. it's great that you put in free time to organize the 'tards', but that doesn't make you the 'credibility police'. I started this topic to try to do something about the BWCP situation, since the start of the replies there has been a lot of constructive comments and plenty of shit throwing by those who don't see the value in carpark meet-ups; I have no problem with that, as long as I have the right [and I do] to respond, as I did to your comments [and others] regarding the "GTR" attitude. if you don't like that, too bad. once again, I apologise for mistakenly using 'rhinorebel' in my response to 'fineline'.
  8. you vote for, "a nice big grass spot...."; you want to tell us where this grassy spot might be?.
  9. seeing the car up close and talking to the driver and/or builder in person is what many want to do. why do you think the 'pits' are so popular at race meets?. most people don't have [and will never have, no matter how much practice] the skill to race, that doesn't mean they shouldn't get involved in some way. involvement can be at race meetings, or go to car club or 'all in' car meetings, such as what used to occurr at BWCP. building and driving highly modified cars is for the few, many more will not be able go beyond a a few basic mods, but all enthusiasts get enjoyment from being around cars. some are dreamers, but who cares if they are doing their thing!. got to start somewhere. not sure if you are interested, but if so, do you have any more suggestions for possible meet-up locations. Mr Fineline suggested my back yard but my kids refused to move their swings, so that is out!!
  10. can't see any spelling mistakes here, well done so far!!
  11. we are; this is just healthy, robust debate happening here. the odd personal 'dig' [given and taken] is good for the soul!!. I hope it is, otherwise some of our souls are indeep crap!!.l
  12. yep, I stuffed that one up; lions..1, christians...nil!!. you now know that you have given me free licence to check 'all' you posts for spelling errors henceforth!!. I know from your posts that you are more into the track/strip scene than carpark meetups, but from other posters' I get the feeling that your car, and what you done to it is pretty cool, this is what a lot of people who attend carpark meetups come to see, enjoy and to learn from; there has to be value in that!!. back to school for me!.
  13. hi NismoKnight, don't know the parks you mentioned in the Burliegh area but Mudgeeraba sounds good; close to M1. "if" we were left alone, I reckon Harbourtown would be ideal. plenty of spaces, lights, directly off Brisbane road and easy access back to M1/Brizzy; or continue on south to Surfer's etc. there's a big "if" there though!!. maybe we could have a trial meet there and another at Mudgee, see how they go. see what others think. Brizzy drivers might want a more central meeting place. thanks for that, we might be getting somewhere with this.
  14. another constructive post Rhinorebel. you're a legend. adios!!.
  15. confusing post Rhinorebel. you write that you don't know me; and then, in the same sentence, you say I have a "GTR attitude". c'mon lift your game!. I like all machinery, I'd love to see Noel's car, ask him questions etc, sounds like he has done a fine build. that's where the meets at BWCP were beneficial; it gave people who don't go to the track/strip to learn and get 'ideas' from experienced people. my point regarding the GTST was that they are not a track/drag car in standard form [nor is a GTR]. modifications, sometimes few, often many, are required and are usually made. the only attitude I display here is dismay at people who put crap on this forum, especially those who have thousands of posts to their name. now that's "hypocracy". any other suggestions on 'where to now' re BWCP?.
  16. R33 dark blue; the spit car park, early arvo. cool car, beaut' wheels. where did you get them polished?.
  17. there were two parts to your post, remember. you were wrong in the first part, and you were 'wrong again' in the second part. anyway, we are off topic, as pointed out above, thanks for the 'verbal sparring', enjoyable.
  18. hey Bunta, where do you get the "superior attitude" gag from?. wrong again?, oh well back to the 'tough, bad arse' site for you.
  19. hey, I'm just a bloke who: likes good machinery, likes a coffee now and then [breakfast], has had fun driving on track and strip, and did a fast driving module as part of a VIP protection course . thanks for asking!. look; if someone wants to go for a full-house engine to drive to the latte trough, I say fair enough, his/her call. I can't see any point in 'labling' them just because they get their 'kicks' differently.
  20. my skyline was built for the road; what was yours built for, track?; I think not.
  21. if you had your shit together, you wouldn't have bought a GTT as a "performance vehicle" one thing all forums have in common; they all have their share of wankers, posers and wannabees !!. luckily, there are still plenty of people with interesting, constructive points to put across, to make it worthwhile coming up.
  22. thanks for that link; brings back beaut memories. I had a few run down the Surfer's strip in the early 70's with my 351XY ute. very amateurish by todays standard but great fun nevertheless. pity it's all gone.
