The Evolution Of "night Fury"
jez NF replied to jez NF's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Quite happy with the end result....... Before..... After........... You cant really see it in detail from this picture..but it gives a basic idea of what it looks like now...Its drizzling and cloudy at the moment so will post some pics when I take her out for a spin later when the paint has dried completely.... -

Hahahaaa.......good question actually.... Wipers were a spur of the moment decision while I was working on the trims.....so being unplanned I just did them when I thought they needed a touch up. Attempted to take out the boot lock....but the left bolt was done up so tight that it snapped.....so I now have half a shaved bolt still stuck in there...and its held together by the right one Intercooler piping.....ummmmm.....dont know actually..... Guilty as charged !! -

The intercooler piping always stands out when you look at the car from the front (not necessarily in a good way).......read up a little bit about piping etc and decided that the supposed disadvantages of a thin layer of paint on a small section of visible piping was'nt going to result in me being the slowest skyline out there and besides I wanted something different so decided to do this... and................................taaadaaaa......... Looks so much better in the flesh and not from a crappy smartphone camera -

Thanks Mike.......the middle clip was sticking (probably because I had the left and right out together and it was an awkward angle...but yeah got there in the end with a bit of coaxing. Had to get the grille off to tighten up one of the front bar bolts.... Right............ So first up..........its been a fairly productive day and I am quite happy with what was covered. Started off with painting the boot badge. Sanded it down a little bit....and then sprayed a couple of coats of black and topped it up with clear. Came up quite nicely...its currently drying so I will put up pictures of that later. This was during the process..... Then off to bunnings to get a nice pointy paintbrush and some more masking tape. Then I pulled out my homemade ramps...got the car up to a nice comfortable height and then I settled down to fill in all the stone chip marks. This took ages as I had to fill in each tiny mark and be careful not to smudge them or mess it up etc. Car was pretty dirty from last nights rain so quite a bit of it was just road grime...which washed off. Will post up finished pics in the morning...its too dark now. -

^^^^^ Today is seat day..... First up....I highly recommend a GTR seat.....works wonders.....I am so snug in it now its not funny.....its comfortable yet firm....holds you amazingly well yet is easy to get into and out of....and yeah bolts straight in so no dramas.....fifteen mins and I was done (with the fitting it in I mean) HOWEVER.........................................being anywhere between 15 to 20 years old these things can get a bit "rugged, tired, worn" etc. Started off with something like this..............(didnt take a picture so stole one off the internet) Took the old seat out (remembered to take off the seatbelt sensor plug) Then "attempted" to put the old leather covers on.............. For those of you who have seen a GTR and a GTST seat you will know that while they are similar in design the top bit is totally different.....the GTST having a separate head rest. Time for some innovation... There was no way I was going to leave it like this.........................so I put on my thinking cap and called in backup -

Not a lot has happenend........................ Had a squeaky clutch pedal......................two sprays of WD40 and that was nipped in the bud. Went down to Barbs this morning with the lads.........lovely sunny day and some nice rides. Doing some touch up paintwork this arvo......window wipers getting a touch up and the rear bar corner. In other news.............I might be getting a bucket seat soon............................. -

@landscribble.....come to think of it now James (10 4) did mention you ages ago in one of our random car related chats.....and yeah I often drop and pick my sister from uni so that would explain it. Update: Work roster is hectic (lots of people on leave at the same time - slackers!!) and coupled by the fact that I am saving for the rims now car stuff has been put on the back burner sadly. Did however pick these up yesterday (enough of struggling with miniscule rachets)......and plan to spend a couple of hours on my days off scrubbing my current rims till they are squeaky clean !! -
