  1. Deep down - its a $50,000 VW Golf. GTR FTW
  2. Spotted a white C34, I think it was a S1, with a funny grill. Was in Turramurra about 420pm this arvo. Lady driving. Grill was like a chrome thing with a "V" in the centre. Never seen it before. Edit - was a S1 NA grill!
  3. We have the early model non-brembo single piston 350z brakes. They are 296x24mm and are shit. There is a later model one apparently - 320x 28 form late 05 onwards. Really, as an upgrade I wouldn't be looking at them. But as you say - if you don't want new wheels/ trying to save $ it might be worth it to investigate.
  4. Fixed it. Could not find copper washers, only seemed to sell them in imperial not M10! Nissan parts wasn't open sundays. I removed the lip off the old washers, and gave the bolt a bit of a grind down, sanded the surface smooth as, whacked it back together and fixed. Pipster- my callipers had some kind of finish on them , a little rough in the alloy. Bit of sanding gave a good finish. Craig came round, fixed my grinding problem... was that little bit of alloy that I should have got rid of in the first place, but it only fouled on one side, and only when turning! So brakes are on and working a treat, so much better and heaps more confidence in them than the OEMs. Craig also broke out the magic tool, and we lowered the back of the car - by popular request! Photos later, when I can be f'd. So all in all, a very productive weekend - thanks again to Craig for helping me out. What a champ.
  5. No, re-used the coppers. I'll get some fresh ones tomorrow morning, and smooth the surface a bit. Thanks Dale
  6. Put R32 GTR Sumitomo brakes on tonight. PMu pads. Two issues - one, didn't cut/bend enough of the LHS stone guard out of the way - so it scrapes on left hand turns - easy fix. two, I seem to be getting a small leak from the banjo in the back of the calliper. When I pulled up after bedding them in, there were patches of BF around the wheels, both sides. Not good. Braking performance was good, so not a massive leak. I think the OEM's are slightly different in operation. They have a little seat where the copper washer sits into the calliper. The R32's dont have this. So what I think I have to do is smooth off the surface where the banjo goes in to make it sit flush and seal nicely. Either that, or shorten the part that goes into the calliper- thats been mentioned by other people. I thought I wouldn't have to do that because I removed the original restrictor out of the sumitomo callipers. Anyone else have similar experiences?
  7. I enjoyed it - good to see a range of cars. Was waiting for there to be a rockclimber sized hole in the side of the building! Looks like a good place to start for the Main game- the 15Th Anniversary!
  8. Weighs a shit load. Find V35 midpipe (Or 350Z and add 7 inches, or thereabouts) Rip out old one, put in new light resonator. Win. Sounds better, flows better, is shitloads lighter. Got my 350Z midpipe for the best price - free.
  9. I'll be there - Just washed the car! Want to be the Bus in the Background in the photos!
  10. Should be right for 1 night mate, just be smart where you park it. And don't say where it will be for sure, on a public forum
  11. Sounds interesting Nick - from some of the photos online, looks like a great range of cars turn out. Might go for a bit of a look Anyone else?
  12. Yeah, it was defiantly one Mechanic there today, and two numpty's pulling parts off, then putting them back on the car! I'm in for one of these. Can wait for my car to start taking shape soon!
  13. Black NM35 Axis, spotted at Normanhurst (NSW), about 5:20pm tonight, female driving. Stock as a rock by the look of it. Someone cutting in on our turf Craig?
  14. Thanks for the PM35 stuff. Found a few of the options on my car in there
  15. I think from what I can tell, My box is different in the valvebody. As we all know, no really way of confirming these things till one rips it open. Apparently in mid 2004, the TCU (trans control unit) was moved from external to inside the transmission. I don't think this actually effects the ability to install a trans-go VB kit, as I have seen sellers claiming compatibility. This is a link showing removal of a VB, and showing TCU inside the box. http://www.gtmotorsports.com/pdfs/products/16575_RE5RO5A_VB_RnR.pdf
  16. I'll be flamed with you then. The wife had a big accident on Bells Line of Road going down into Lithgow on these. Conditions were wet. Now, not saying that it was entirely the tyres fault, thats impossible and stupid to even consider that. However, I believe tyres play a big part of the dynamics of a car. Needless to say, post accident, Pirelli tyres went on all 4 corners. I wouldn't consider buying them again, but thats just my opinion/experience.
  17. Arrived - about 6 days I think. 225/40 19 Extreme Contact DW. $205 US each when bought. Have only driven them for one day so far, but impressions so far are good. Don't know why they are cheaper than sportcontact range, they are a German made tyre. Great overall grip, more compliant in the ride than I expected, which is nice. Feel a little dead just off centre, but the overall grip is great. They have the one of the best reviews on the site I could find. Tirerack experience was great.
  18. Looks good mate - sets it apart nicely. Hmmm... Front Pews- Do Want!
  19. Put the Angle grinder away Craig! The car was parked downhill, so it didn't do it any favours. I think I need that clearance though, the Mrs has to go over epic speedhumps at work!
  20. Nope, no spacers- thats sort of why I took so long picking wheels. The right offset is difficult to find without spacers!
  21. Ok, well after what feels like forever, and is probably 6 or 7 months, I have finally got wheels on my car! Details: Wheels - SSR Type F 19x8.5 +22 in Matte Black and very light! (JDMConcept) Tyres- Continental Extreme Contact DW 225/40 19 (tirerack) This is the same wheel specs as Bbenny's Enkei GTC01's. Thanks mate for putting up with my PMs about wheels all the time! Very happy with the outcome - the fit is just right, I think it looks great. Pics taken really quick, with bad Camera. The car is Lowered with Eibach springs. Only criticism is that the rear looks a little high in the pics (car is on downward slope), but in reality I can just fit 2 fingers between the tyre and arch. The overall height is ok for me due to the driveway- lower I'd be scraping. Really, the photos don't do it justice. Nick- You'll have to take some good ones for me! On with the PHOTOS! New Wheels! Stock Wheels------------------------->
  22. Hey Mate, Honestly I think you'll be pissing in the wind with the Std Braking system. I know you can get uprated pads and rotors for them, but in reality, I think your better off using something a bit better out of the nissan stable. The single piston, thin rotors they come with really are not up to the job of stopping these beasts! See if you can get a front set of either GTR brembo's, or if thats too pricy, go to the R32 GTR/ R33 GTS-t 4pot Sumitomos. These provide better Pad/rotor Choice as well. Just my opinion.
  23. Damm! Could have sworn it was you. Only spotted it through 3 lanes of traffic! Saw silver, saw shiny wheels, and thought I saw Stripes. Defiantly not THE awesome car then.
  24. Spotted (Iains) Awesome car today - the Silver version. St Ives, about 430pm
  25. Spotted this too at Normanhurst Train Station. Some Stagea related number plate on it. Also a White NM35 RS/RX in Wahroonga about 4:30om. Gave a Wave (was in the PNM35) but couldn't see any reply cause I was squinting into the sun!
