In VIC, any VL thats cheap will be more than likely thrashed. R31s have more older owners and its easier to find a clean example. Oh and the police wont look twice. For practicality the 31 got better gearing, air con standard, power steering standard, 4 wheel disk brakes standard, couple of KWs and boots that can double as a pond in winter lol.

I say plan 1. Get a cheap R31 manual and learn in that. Similar weight and size to the 32. Yes, you will have expenses such as insurance etc. But if you keep out of trouble at least you will gain a rating and when you get your R32 the insurance wont be as steep.

Interesting graph. What was the weather like the day it was dynoed? According to the figures, the ambient temp in the workshop was 42 degress celsius. But when the inlet temp sensor was placed in the engine bay it dropped to 34 degress celsius.

Race car claims are sketchy to say the least. The gibson cars also had a "stock" intercooler. But for some reason they are different to mine?

My experience, we fitted LEDs to a ute here at work, a custom rear light section with blinkers, stops, tails and reverse. We noticed that the blinkers flashed really really fast like when you have blown one. We took it back and they said its because LEDs use a lot less voltage to operate than the normal globes ( as someone mentioned). We changed the flasher can to one specified and problem disappeared.

Have you checked your power steering reservoir level?
-
I called it 4 square and yes downball was against a wall. We also played "brandy". Basically, it was chasey, tiggy, tag etc but with a tennis ball that was always pelted at somebodys head lol. But thats not the question here. 4 SQUARE!!!!

Front Callipers Gtr / Gtst The Same?
FATGTS-R replied to my_gtr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I will take your word on that. Didnt know there was a difference between 32gtst and 33 calipers but just knew his top pic was what I assumed GTR calipers to be as thats what they have looked like on every GTR 32 I have seen and aslo what my calipers look like which I was told where 32 GTR. But still, can anybody confirm R32 GTR calipers are alloy and the others are not?? -
As mentioned I am in the industry and I have never heard of a .5 long maximum. That would mean a hockey stick, a golf club, a pool cue, a rug, a TV ( sent 10 today, 90cm) etc etc would not be allowed. Yes, they do have a cubic conversion for light items that are large in size which is why I said $30. By weight alone a bar from VIC to QLD would be about $8.00. Some drivers dont give a crap and pick it up mislabelled anyways. As long as it fits in there van they dont really care, they are more pissed when its heavy. Transport is a ruthless game. I sent a 3 seater sofa to WA and charged the customer $399. My boss got a customer wanting to send 15 cartons to WA and charged them $800 and they thought it was a bargain. Some jobs we make $15.00, some we make $1500, all depends how much people are willing to pay. I just went on Fastway couriers website and entered pickup location as Canberra, delivery location as Melbourne with weight of parcel 25kg. Price???? $12.00-$16.00.

Baz, comparing it side by side with spooks graph it is a good result. You got 187 and he got 192rwkw. A 5kw margin. Both have similar mods except you have 2 psi less boost, AFR is 1.2 lower and you have a street exhaust (cat). Oh, and the inlet temps on his are 44 as opposed to 22. Not sure what the equation is but pretty sure if yours read 44 you might have even seen higher than him. At the end of the day, dyno charts are holding less and less credibility as time goes past so take it with a grain of salt. Nice result.

Front Callipers Gtr / Gtst The Same?
FATGTS-R replied to my_gtr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yup, thats exactly what I mean. -
Yeah $250 is a little too much. Try $30 like above mentioned. I shipped a catback exhaust from Melbourne to QLD for $19.00 plus GST. Fastway couriers is who I use. They have a maximum weight of 25kg per parcel which a bar nor skirts will not exceed. Toll/Ipec will be under $50 as well. Dont say it is a bumper bar. Say you have a boxed parcel that is 10kg and non hazadous, as thats all they care about. I have been in the transport industry for many years and I can tell you to NOT call "transport" or "general freight" people. You want a "courier"...if you want the cheapest price.

Front Callipers Gtr / Gtst The Same?
FATGTS-R replied to my_gtr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Pretty sure one visual difference is that the R32 GTR calipers have the word "Nissan" cast onto a flat smooth caliper surface whilst the R33 ones still have "Nissan" cast onto them but it is cast on top of a raised ridge section. Hard to explain without pics. Can anybody confirm one way or the other that 32 GTR calipers are alloy and R33 are not? -
Aftermarket Turbos,are They Legalish
FATGTS-R replied to GtstCoupe's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What turbo looks stock? A highflowed stock turbo. Besides that, to the best of my knowledge there is no ADR compliant aftermarket turbo kit for a skyline in Aus. I stand to be corrected though. -
This thread has had me smiling all the way through remembering how much fun I actually had as a child. Top work, its been good therapy lmao. Cant beleive how great peoples memories are, kept on saying "oh yeah" as someone mentioned things such as nick knocking, army, fat cat, voltron, he man, BMX ghosties etc. Have no idea how people remembered cordial in the supermarkets lol. Great point on kids not playing in the streets anymore but I guess the world we live in is not the same anymore with the amount of kidnapping, molesterers, murderers etc. Things I remember not mentioned already: The local milk bar had: Barney Bananas, "the foot", rainbow paddle pops, SUNNY BOYS FOR 20 CENTS!!, Bubble o Bills, "mates" lollies, racing car lollies, love candy, sherbet bombs and Sherbet straws. And smokes were under $4.00 and a note from Mum was good enough to sell a packet to a five year old. KFC was called Kentucky fried chicken. McDonalds sold chicken as well. People went to Red Rooster. If you had a Redline, Mongoose, PK ripper, diamond back or Haro BMX you were god. Anybody see a BMX movie called RAD? Or skate movie called Thrashin? Magazines were full of cigarette ads. Pinball games to play were Galaga, hyper olympics, double dragon, Wonder boy and then onto Street fighter and Mortal Kombat. Tv has been mostly covered but I will add Astro boy, the A team with Mr. T, WWF wrestling with Hulk Hogan, King Kong Bundy, George the animal steele etc and Different strokes, oh and Romper room. Friendship bands, Skeg bands. 40 kids gathering around the playground to watch two people "tongue" lmao. Run DMC, beastie boys, public enemy,Guns n Roses, Poison. Shaving stripes in the side of my head. LA gear, Reebok pumps, Jordan fives, Brittish nights, Cons Peter Brock, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansel, Tony Lockett, Warrick Cappa, Diego Maradona, Pat Cash, Stefan Edberg, Ivan Lendl, Navratilova, Steffi Graf and Gabriela Sabitini. Gee, it all comes flooding back when you think about it. Great thread.

I was also told that the 32 GTR calipers were alloy and 33 GTST calipers are not. Is that correct? -
Top RB20 Club... do you have over 260rwkw?
FATGTS-R replied to RBsileighty's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sum it up? intake, decent sized turbo, efficient cooler, good dump, 3 inch minimum exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, ecu with a good tune, big hit of boost, wait untill about 4,000rpm for the turbo to wake up, HANG ON while it skates across the road = 260rwkw. Oh, last but not least the most important mod of all, MONEY!!!!!!! -
Moving House Sale - Lots Of Parts
FATGTS-R replied to halz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
PM sent. I will take the cam gear. Will pick up Tuesday if ok with you. -
Search as it has been covered a few times. Search "RB24" , "stroked RB20" etc. The general consensus is that due to the costs involved to do it its not worthwhile as you could have an RB30/25 in there instead for the same if not less money.
-
Think you are talking about the wrong ecu? Rob are you refering to the EMS brand? i.e stinger etc? I think taffy is talking about the US braned ecu AEM?
-
My power peaks at 6,000rpm and I have a decent manifold. What type of dump are you using? As mentioned, the standard cams will not push much past 6.5k anyways so dont be fooled into spending up on a manifold. Thats a lot of boost pressure to not even crack 200rwkw. I have a T3/T4 variant (there are many) with all supporting mods inc ecu and I make 190 at about 8-9psi and over 230rwkw with 16psi. Either, the turbo is not what its meant to be, you have a restriction somewhere or the dyno is just reading low. You have decent support mods so I dare say its turbo and/or exhaust. Can you give some more detailed specs and/or pics on the turbo?

Cleaning The Inside Of An Intercooler
FATGTS-R replied to TurbostyleR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
But....you will never know if there is still a piece or two lodged in there that with the new engine and possibly higher boost decides to come out and make a new cooler at ~$1,000 cheap compared to another rebuild.. Sorry for being pessimistic, but if it was me I would not dare tun that cooler unless there was a way I could be 100% cedrtain it is all out. -
Wheel Shaking And Tram Lining
FATGTS-R replied to sl33py's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do you have spacers fitted? -
To add more eveidence to the R31 all having the right block, we are doing a turbo conversion (single cam) on a mates series 1 86 R31 and the block has all provisions already in place.

The Link plug in ecus are vehicle specific and are designed to sit inside the standard ecus casing so I dare say thats where it is. There is no way that the MAP sensor is at the air filter, full stop. The car would not be running correctly if that was the case. I would say its the ambient air temp sensor which can be used to trigger such things as a water spray at a given ambient air temp. Lastly, how did you clear a defect for not having an AFM? I would have thought it was a very serious defect needing a return to factory ecu to clear? Along with mind boggling fines?
