  1. Had to work today in the heat moving someones freaking furniture lol!!! I took a booking two weeks back in a rush with no calendar around and didnt realise it was a public holiday. Every worker I tried calling (that answered) laughed down the phone at me haha. So off I went with another manager and sweated my ring off. Beers afterwards were nice though.
  2. I'm not defending used car salesmen in any way but what do you expect them to offer you? They have to sell it with rwc etc after buying it from a most likely young person who in there eyes (there probably right) have thrashed the life out of it. Who knows how much needs to be spent on it to get it right for sale? When you walk into a car yard to buy a car you want everything perfect. Decent tyres, nice paint, no oil leaks etc etc. They dont have time or money to have the car inspected to see what issues it might need to get it up to resale worthiness so they offer on worst case scenario. If it needs a whole heap of work done they are ok and if it doesnt then its a bonus. Like was mentioned they intend to resell and make a profit. Not keep it for themselves. They have to allow to sit on the car if it doesnt sell, pay for mechanical repairs, detailers, advertising, wages, rent, power etc etc etc etc.
  3. Yup, the oldest skyline at the day held its own against its larger capacity brothers and all with a stock turbo. Another RB20 came very close that had a 2535, nice curve as well. Then there was a white 32 with an RB20.......that began its ramp up with af/r's starting at 17:1 and dissapearing off the top of the chart. Operator backed right off and I assume he thought something was amiss as they redid the sniffer and started again to get the same result. Engine was obviously a time bomb but owner is lucky he spent the couple dollars to put it on as it has saved him an engine.....if its not already too late.
  4. See everyone tomorrow. I will take the trophy for worst condition car for sure. But guaranteed the crown of highest powered standard turbo RB20 lol....
  5. I will definatley bring the gtsr down for a run and finally join up with SAU. Been meaning to do so for years now but never done it. Hope to whoop some Rb25 ass with the god ol 20 lol.
  6. I am a truck driver and I have stopped in the past to push someone out the way that has broken down, jumped started someone with the jump pack etc etc. But if I saw a small "fender bender" I would keep on going along without a care. One of my peeves being on the road all day with a time schedule is to come across a traffic jam that lasts many kms only to find the cause of the delay was every man and his dog slowing down to stare at someone that had a slight off. Not one person actually stops, they just stare and then all of a sudden traffic is back up to speed after 20 minutes of crawling. If the driver of the car is sitting on his/her bonnet with mobile in hand then THEY ARE FINE.
  7. There were two versions of the redtop. A NICS and an ECCS version. The nics has the different style plenum you are refering to but the redtop eccs plenum looks like a silvertop unit. It would not be a silvertop plenum (although they can be used) as you mention it still has the sandwich plate. I still have the sandwich plate but the flaps and actuating rod are gone. You def have a redtop eccs as the eccs has the injectors plumbed into the lower runners where the nics had them plumbed directly to the head. You can see in your first pic where the provision for injectors directly to head are plugged up. red eccs pics: http://forum.r31skylineclub.com/index.php/topic,27815.0.html
  8. Or just get a factory nissan GTSR and add injectors, ecu and exhaust. Turn the boost up on the factory turbo and have 260rwkw+ with 1.5bar all in by 4,000rpm.
  9. Whatever price you got it for was expensive as at present from my knowledge nobody in vic can tune it. When I bought my car it had an F-con ( older version) and it literally went in the steel bin at work.
  10. double post.
  11. LOL, what you were working on was not a silvertop then. The original Rb engine was the REDTOP RB20 that came out in the HR31 skylines. It featured a 12 port cylinder head with the sandwich plate with the butterflies. It kept 6 ports closed at low throttle openings for improved low down torque and then opened it all up for max power. Obviously it must not have worked very well as they ditched the idea in the silvertops. A common mod with a redtop like I have done is to remove all the butterflies altogether as its only a restriction at the top end. Some redtop owners migrate to the silvertop ecu and injectors. Did it have hosetail type injectors or O ring? Redtops had hosetail injectors identical to VLT. Redtops also had a more aggressive inlet cam.
  12. Hi mate, I am in the transport industry and like MBS206 said the cheapest way is on a pallet. 1200 x 1200 is the standard size of the blue chep pallets you see around. Finding a company that will ship a pallet to brisbane from vic is easy ( rockhampton another story). The main issue you will have is with how flexible the seller is. One pallet from vic to qld is around $80-$150......but that is depot to depot. Meaning the seller would have to take the engine to a transport depot and also need to have a pallet and also strap it down to said pallet securely. Another option is a furniture removalist. Depending on where in vic and where in qld would cost between $200-$350 and is a door to door service. But the catch is hardly any of the interstaters have hydraulic tailgates ( makes truck heavier reducing load capability ) so the engine would need to be rolling somehow to push up there ramp. If you get stuck send me a pm and I will see what I can do for you. We just had a new truck engine crated to us and I think the crate is lying around somewhere if the seller wnats to pick it up.
  13. Mine changed a few times but the first one I remember was the trans-am with the big bad gold eagle. I also had the matchbox car but not anymore. After that I wanted a "brock". Then the lambo that was on the chipboard print in my room next to Samantha Fox. High School came along and it turned to the walkinshaw. Then VCE came and it was a VL turbo with walkinshaw rims or simmons. High school ended and I promised myself I would have 300zx. I thought V6, twin turbo can not be beaten and it looks horn too!! Went to buy my first car and wanted the VL but just couldnt stretch the funds and had to settle for a R31 Pintara. Fell in love with the Japs and then got a 31 skyline gxe and the rest is history. Still have my R31 GTSR to this day.
  14. This is a no brainer mate. If the problem isnt easily identifiable by yourself or even the rwc mech you should of spoken with the engine builder before you thought of posting on here. Ring them up and tell them its leaked a lot of oil. Ask when is a good time to drop it off so they can have a look. Book the tilt tray and send it down to them. I'm sure they will happily oblige.
  15. My best mate ran the gauntlet trying to get ready for a dyno comp the next day and there was little tuning carried out when we packed it in at 4.00am. There was no time given to sorting the limiter on his wolf so it was left with a hard cut (spark). Turbo was a literally brand new turbonetics Y2k. Which cost about Y2k as well. Next day at dyno comp, ramped it up and it hit the limiter...POP POP POP BACKFIRE BANG!!. The shaft snapped and the compressor wheel ate itself into the compressor housing. Turbine wheel was still perfect. Thankfully, they stood by there product and after sending it back to the states they shipped back a thumper. Yes, we did tell about the backfire.
  16. Like adriano said if you get the autronic cdi or not it only has 4 ignition drivers. The multiplexer will give you six if you wish. I run an old autronic smc in wasted spark and cant tell any difference from a sequential setup.
  17. I posted a while back I was taking the GTSR to the ndsoc heathcote drag day. I did a warm up run off the trailer with the solenoid off to get all the driveline temps up and came straight back around to stage and switched it on. Started to do a burnout and it started tramping badly and ripped the yoke and uni joint to pieces. All fixed now. Re the GTSR cams, thankfully I havent needed to measure them yet as I still havent opened the engine up which still suprises me as its had a lot of hard work. Not from me driving it but from the dyno operator sorting issues lol. Its honestly done more WOT trips on the rollers than on tarmac. Like people have said theres rumours they are larger but I reckon thats what they are...rumours. I have scoured the net high and low and the only times its mentioned about cams is from uninformed people. Never a nissan bulletin etc or whatever clearly stating they received larger cams. Besides the cosmetic differences the only concrete stuff they got is a front mount, stainless tubular manifold and a T3/T4 ( largest turbo fitted to any factory nissan). Dead stock were very underated as well as they make around 170rwkw but are rated at 215ps engine. All I have done is exhaust, ecu, fuel system and turn the boost up to record a best of over 280rwkw. This peak power is at 6,000rpm though which makes me think cams are same as other redtops. It holds this peak power dead flat for another couple hundred rpm then dives off. Tuner has tried using less timing and more boost and also less boost and more timing and the result is always the same, 6,000rpm and its all over. It pegs target boost ( 21psi) at 4,000rpm but I think a lot of that is due to the manifold design and the fact my boost control is not that good as the gate is held 100%tight and then has a spike to about 26 before settling down. With a smooth and stable boost curve the taget would likely be reached later. Interestingly, since I fitted a 25 box to the back of it I have not been able to repeat the 280rwkw number on the same dyno. Its only making 260rwkw now? Does a 25 box suck 20rwkw over a 20 box? You wouldnt think so but I cant repeat the number that had been repeated many times with the 20 box...food for thought.
  18. Probably easier to get another from a wrecker. $20-$40. Pretty sure R31, VLT, R33 all bolt up with only difference being the fan blade count/shape.
  19. The 2530 should make same power as you have at present but not much if any more. If your currently not seeing much untill 4500 then the 2530 will be much better and be overall a faster car.
  20. Well heres my latest demoralising update. Went to an NDSOC drag day a few weeks back in search of my elusive 12 second pass. Before the day I got a straight through exhaust system fitted up. Sounded like a lancer at idle but unreal at high revs. Put it on a dyno a few days before and got 170rwkw at 6-7psi and 260rwkw at 19-20psi all in at 3800rpm. Loaded car on trailer and brought a set of brand spankers e/t streets with me to bolt on when I was up there. My mate is starting up a website and wanted footage so he spent the best part of an hour setting up the in car camera. Finally get out to stage and run down the track off the spring taking it easy to get all the fluids up to temp. Come back and all is good so I decide to have a run with the boost up on the street tyres before bolting on the M/T's. Get put in the water and let her rip for the burnout. It decides to start axle tramping like crazy and instead of getting out of it I push the pedal down harder thinking it will come good and start spinning nicely. High hopes it seems as instead of spinning clean it decided to spin the uni joint off the tailshaft where it meets the gearbox. So back on the trailer where its still sitting with dust and bird shit all over it, the c@nt of a thing. But alas, I WILL run a 12 second pass on an RB20 with factory turbo and cooler sans gas.
  21. Tuned or not wouldnt one think when on cruise in closed loop that it would be around 14.7-15ish? Not always above 16? Always above 16 is a tad lean. Do you get any driveability issues and/or ridiculously fantastic consumption lol?
  22. I dont know your sister but it seems like she may be the type of driver that will not find the limits of even the factory suspension. So I wouldnt spend cash there. She sounds very much like my other half. My advice is to get a nice looking set of wheels and then an exhaust system that has a more grunty note than factory. Tell her the bigger wheels have given her 34% more grip and the exhaust has given her 38.6kw. Get the job done and when you come back to give her the car pull up in the garage where its more of an echo and give the throttle a few nice blips and she will grin from ear to ear lmao..
  23. As someone said its not just about volume of supply but quality of supply. A friend has a serious HP car and like giant runs three pumps. One of the three pumps can supply enough fuel to keep the rail happy but he runs three. The other two pumps are just plumbed in for insurance allowing for a failure of one ...or two of them.
  24. That thinking was used by Nissan back in 1986. The first breed of RB engines, the RB20 redtop (12 port head) from the R31 had the exact same thing. There was a sandwich plate between the head and the intake runers that had basically little throttle butterflies that would close off 6 of the 12 ports at low engine speeds to increase velocity and obviously open up at higher engine speeds. Interestingly, Nissan ditched that idea in all following engines. It worked reasonably well at factory levels but is seen as a restriction when higher levels of power are wanted and hence most people remove them.
  25. Got an os twin as well and its fine for daily duties. The 20 box blew so a 25 item went in with a larger slave and its not very heavy at all. I have more trouble getting in the other halfs N16 with stalling as I am used to the OS item with how much lighter it makes things as you only need a blip to take off.
