  1. well i red lined first and second again and no smoke this time. what does this mean? and i really cant get to the turbo without removing parts first, or is it reachable from underneath or something?
  2. oh okay, thanks for that. I attached an image just to make sure, so the red circle is the tube i should cut to attach the T piece? I have heard from someone that you can also cut the hose coming from that little black can shaped thing, i circled the tube coming off it. Would i be better off cutting this tube? So which out of the two would be better to cut. Another question is, will this cause any problems to occur such as stalling or the car running poorly? It just seems a bit daunting to be cutting a tube going to the intake manifold and attaching a little T piece onto it, thats all
  3. yeah, ive looked around a bit and thats what most of them say. but im not too familiar with where the intake manifold is or even where the vacuum lines are. And instead of cutting something and ruining my engine i was hoping for something a little more detailed. like a photo would be awesome, or anything a bit more helpful.
  4. Hey guys, I'm looking to instal an aftermarket boost gauge on my R34 GT-T. It's mechanical so i need to connect the hose somewhere on the turbo line. I've searched around the forums and google a fair bit and thought this sorta thing would have been covered already but i really couldn't find much, or anything with pictures, or maybe i just dont understand it. But yeah, i thought its better to be safe than sorry, so where and what exactly do i cut and put my T piece to connect the hose for the boost gauge? Thanks heaps
  5. Hi guys, I've got a R34 GT-T and i finally floored it to about 7RPM and noticed that a cloud of white smoke came out of the exhaust behind me. I've searched around and a lot of people say its either a coolant leak or a turbo on its way out. My cars running about 10psi. Is there any other signs that i should look for to find out if my turbo is on its way? It seems to hold boost fine and hasn't lost any power. And because of this im wondering how much a replacement turbo would be, im curious about the price of the cheapest one that will do the job, and approximately how much people charge to install them. Thanks heaps guys
  6. same thing happened to my old 33. couldn't figure out what it was n sold it.
  7. lol this'll make my head explode, i reckon i wont be able to do it right after looking at how tightly packed everything is today. do you know about how much someone that'll look at it for me would charge? and hopefully anyone good in sydney (blacktown area) that knows this sorta stuff? maybe i should stop flat footing it until then lol
  8. I looked into it as much as i could, and took a few more photos. I found a two prong hose sort of thing that looks like it used to be on the solenoid? just a guess though. and i can see its been attached to another hose thats attached to itself maybe? and then that hose attaches to the golden looking round thing, i got that in a photo too. Hope these photos explain whats going on a little more
  9. do i need to disassemble to see this or will it be visable from the engine how it is, these jap engines are so big and crammed into such little space lol. thanks heaps for the help though guys, especially gtsboy, i dont wanna lose anymore sleep wondering whats going on
  10. to be honest i cant even locate where the turbo is right now. I've taken some photos if anyone knows whats going on from looking at them it'd help heaps.
  11. well my boost gauge reads +1 Bar and i cant see a boost controller or anything like that in my car. The solenoid is still there but has no pipes attached to it.. wonder whats going on :s anyone have any ideas?
  12. thanks heaps for that mad082, and everyone else that gave helpful responses on this thread. All my questions are answered
  13. yeah, so its reading about 14.2 psi then from the stock boost gauge. im looking to get an after market one but until then i still wonder whats going on. what exactly should i be looking for under the hood in regards to controlling boost pressure, and where is the acutator located? I've still got the dual boost soleniod there with the wires still attached to it, but there are two nossles at the top of the solenoid that look like they should have pipes attached but they dont? or is it supposed to be like that?
  14. well google says 1 bar = 14.5037738 pounds per square inch which is really getting me worried because i dont want to be running 14.5psi. im wondering if the guy might have changed the acutator or somethin like that?
  15. Hey guys, I've got a R34 GT-T 98. and i bought it recently. me not knowing much about turbos yet, i bought it trusting the guy and he said the car is completely stock apart from the exhaust which is a 3 inch turbo back. Yet when i flat foot the pedal at about 5-6 rpm the stock boost gauge shows it reaching almost the top end of it, which is the +1. From what i can see, nothing else is changed it even had the stock airbox which i changed to a pod. Could someone give me an explanation on what's going on here? I don't see any sort of boost controller or bleed valve either. Thanks.
  16. i find it weird how its a public forum and you could have given an answer quicker than saying to google it. or better yet there was no need for yous to post if you didn't have an answer for me. at least the other questions were answered. Thanks guys.
  17. thanks heaps for the response, it covers everything i was after, even if you were a bit mean about it but yeah, it makes sense now, I'd rather ask and know than not know and ruin my car anyways. I have one last question that i thought of, 7. What is the average kms you get out of about 30Ls of fuel or just kms/L. On a r34 GT-T. I'm getting about 7.3Kms out of every Litre. Is this normal?
  18. I've tried google and searching, i really dont understand it in relation to the boost gauge, i dont get why it goes until +1 when people boost around 10psi, i dont see the relation there and I couldn't find anything on that. I looked at that thread and have seen it a lot of times before, it doesn't answer anything im asking here. Thanks for some of the useful replies guys, some more replies and clarification on some of the questions would be heaps awesome. I'm sure these questions are common knowledge for skyline owners but im sure theres a lot of people that just don't know, and thats why im asking. Thanks again.
  19. Hey guys, I haven't had a skyline for long and know very little about them so i had a few very basic questions that i've got no idea about and would appreciate it if anyone could help . My car - R34 Skyline GT-T 1998 - Stock appart from 3inch exhaust and pod filter. 1. I hope the attached photo works, I see people say 9, 10 psi etc and 1bar or 0.5 bar, does psi make a difference in the amount of bars the car achieves? and how does psi and bars relate to the boost gauge on the stock system shown in the picture, the first of the three gauges? The needle on my car almost reaches +1 on the gauge, what does this mean? 2. Under the RPM meter theres a oil per kg or something gauge meter that always changes and idles at about 4 i think, its not there in the picture beacuse of the steering wheel. it goes left and right. What is the point of this meter and how should i use it? 3. Whats the difference between EN34, HR34, ER34? 4. What is the max boost i should run on a constant basis with a basically stock car except for the turbo back exhaust? 5. Will it damge my car in anyway to bypass the dual stage solenoid to keep it in a constant high boost? 6. I've seen people that drive hondas and smaller toyotas always rev their cars to 7 RPM and shift then, with this being a 6 cyl engine what is "too high" to rev the engine on a regular basis? Any other advice on owning and maintaing a skyline would be awesome I get these questions are really noob and ill probably get a few troll comments for it, but i really didn't know where else or who else to ask. Thanks guys.
  20. i posted here with this question because its not an obvious leak, its something i havent seen before and i was guessing it might be skyline specific or the fact that the substance is this colour might mean its something that someone here may have come across before.
  21. thanks for all the replies and some helpful posts lol. but yeah it just stopped leaking on its own, which is getting me half worried and half relieved. i dont think i can trace the problem out now, I've checked all the major fluids such as the engine oil and that and they're all full or about where they should be. any advice on what i should do from here?
  22. bilsetin are charging 550 for two shocks.. i've managed to find two for 151 ea from nissan, dunno why i didnt think of them before lol, thanks zebra .
  23. thanks jjman for the one useful comment. does anyone else have any idea what it could be? i really hope it is just grease but why would it be leaking all of a sudden, and why so much of it.
  24. lol i expected a comment like that. but yeah, im getting worried because its coming from near the turbo area. not too sure though
  25. not really, if you look at my old thread i didn't know if it was the shocks that were gone. right now im just looking for the cheapest way out of this problem and trying to get other peoples experiences on getting shocks for a R34 GT-T, because almost everywhere i've called they don't have them in their catalogues.
