  3. Meant to thank you earlier for your offer too Steve, so, thanks mate Decided to give Tim a run, he's from Tas, and should be a good source of skirt for the duration of the event being a local and all. And with a little luck, hopefully all the pics this year will be of it ON the road
  4. Just got the invoice from Dean...... There goes my girlfriend's European holiday in October......... lol
  5. Thanks Harry, we'll have a ball no doubt, and do our best to keep this borrowed car straight too Of course, it's Tim's fault if anything happens
  6. Someone's doin mine too, so yeah, DITTO!!
  7. And so say all of us..........
  8. 6th sense tells me they're straight out of a Lambo and into a V-spec as soon as they become available. And you can bet there'll be two.... one for spares YT would welcome it I'm sure after these past couple of years in "The Devil's Skateboard" as he puts it. lol
  9. 1. Snot came out my nose when I spotted the "picture from the fringe"! lol 2. Dmac, it would be wise to be careful about your personal details and where the email originated from. 3. Anyone else notice the Nissan man's surname? Does that allude to the chance they have of stopping greys I wonder???? Colin Buckley COMPANY SECRETARY
  10. Thanks for everyones interest and PM's! I'm very glad to say the position had been filled.......... by one of our very own! Welcome aboard PHaT MR30!!!!!!!!
  11. Sure it hasn't had a little touch in the front recently? What with inferior headlights and a "now black" lower lip. I smell replacement front panels. I'm not saying that to be annoying, but I have a friend who's recently arrived from Ireland with cash in pocket lookin for a 33, but I don't want to travel to NSW to find it's ordinary. So, whats the scoop? Any accident history you know of?
  12. Fair enough, but surely your car isn't even close to that noise level is it? I'm sure the track organisers would give a little leeway on the noise, even if it's just alerting you that you're really close to or just over the limit, giving you the opportunity to ease off past the meter....
  13. I'm assuming that was for me Ben? Nothing organised yet..... you about to offer up your 32? Would be great to do everything with borrowed equipement
  14. Thanks mate, I want to do a fair bit of recce prior so that probably doesn't suit anyways..... Do appreciatte your help though
  15. Thanks Harry Don't bust your balls for me though mate, they're coming out of the woodwork now, biggest drama is keeping on top of the enquiries! lol. How things change huh? lol
  16. Well said, and I totally agree. If anyone's not willing to quieten their car, please don't go at all. The last thing the track needs is anyone turning up with a bad attituded and then putting a turn on because they're then asked to leave due to noise. As Harry says, the track is worth toning your car down a little, and I don't really think having a 92db sound level exhaust is that difficult to achieve on turbo cars that most of us here run anyway.
  17. Well, flights are booked! Heading down pm on wed 9th, and recce'ing up a storm from then With any luck Mark and Russ might come down for the event too, doin their own recce for the 35's assault next year
  18. Ok, now the budget isn't so much of an issue. Seems the dollar Gods have smiled on me somewhat. So, anyone here or know of a capable Nav that wants to have a damn good time blasting Tas? All I'm asking is what any other driver would, and that is that you pay your own way. ie flights/meals/accom. Oh, and they Must be easy to get along with Obviously I have the feelers out elsewhere, but I know you guys love 'lines Hit me............. via PM or email, [email protected]

    Gtr Vs. Nsx

Well said, size up an original evo to the evo X, or fot that matter, a first gen wrx to the latest abomination (I'm not doubting either's speed btw) Nothing changes the fact that for better or worse, modern cars are getting bigger and heavier. Blame safety requirements, pedestrian impact laws etc... Kinda wierd in this "enviromentally aware" age that cars are heading this way, but I think we have to live it up now, 'cause the writing is on the wall..........
  20. Here here, second that. For purely circuit I'd probably remove it. I would never have crashed mine (on the street) if ABS was de-activated, but for 99% of the time would still prefer it. IMO, 32 era abs is too slow acting and only 3 channel, therefore you'd be better off either removing it or upgrading it to something 4 channel and more modern, IF it's a circuit car.
  21. At least you could read it.
  22. Mate trust me, if by some miracle I get the opportunity again next year, you WILL be called!
  23. Haha, thanks Andrew, something tells me a driver aint hard to find So many people say they don't reckon they could nav, most of these people consider themselves "drivers". I've never been a particularly good passenger on the road, and always offer to drive everywhere. When I decided to step in and have a go at navigating, I was apprehensive sure, but very quickly realised that it really is a team effort. A nivigator has a much bigger job than most people realise, it's not just a matter of reading notes blindly, or even being responsible for keeping the car on time for the next stage or checkpoint. A good nav will help the driver alot more than just that, and in turn you tend to get so immersed in it that fear doesn't come into, or indeed "car sickness". Helping your driver gauge the grip level available is just one sample, by reading ahead YOU can tell him to "find the level" when it's safe because YOU know what is around that next bend. I know dozens of guys that get sick during recce at legal road speed, but never have an issue at race pace. It's called Adrenalin! How else could anyone explain footage of our in-car camera when we're leaving the road and sliding down an embankment. Was there total eyes-closed silence as you'd expect from your passenger (me) if you were going off in a road car? No. Was there frantic calls of "first gear go go go go" to get it up and on road again/ Yep As a navigator it is YOU that controls the pace of the vehicle. YOU call that crest flat or lift. YOU call this next corner caution slippy or a late apex. If you feel the driver's getting a little loose (usually when chasing a car in front), YOU can slow him down by several methods, either try to calm him a little with a couple of choice words, or call the corner ahead as if it's actually slower than it really is. This will usually wake them back up! (never had to do the latter myself, but I know many that have). For someone to have a navigator that is ALSO a good driver, I reckon is the perfect situation, because it's then that you have another brain reading that road and getting the best from the car. End rant
  24. “Targa Tasmania 2008 – April 15th to 20th”Hi, I know it’s rather short notice, but if anyone is keen to participate in this year's Targa, I have a possible co-drive position available. Some personal issues have arisen for our team, and this year it appears our normal driver cannot participate. I have completed several events in this vehicle as co-driver, am a very competent driver (read as: try not to crash! ), and as such have been offered by the vehicle owner to step into the driver's side for the event. My outright focus is always to finish the event safely and with the vehicle in one piece. The vehicle is a 2001 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR N1 and is the actual outright winning vehicle from 2005. If you are keen, I plan on being in Tasmania for recce from Wednesday, 9th April, and I hope you could be too. Your costs would be your flights (if applicable), meals, and accomodation. Any further information can be obtained from me, Ben. via PM or just here on the board. It's worth noting I need to make a decision by this Friday, 14th March.
  25. He'll be stoked to hear that He was on R compounds so probably had a slight advantage leading onto the straight. He and you were one of the few to stay flat past the tower, I reckon most were backing off past the meter or getting a little nervous for the kink. lol Why ya here, do you know of any co-driver/nav that would be keen to tip in some funds to do Targa Tas next month? I'm trying to get it all together..... late changes mean I'm steering..... IF I can fund it.
