  1. Interesting to hear some disappointed people here.... Just because the GTR engine is all new and is mounted in a weapon vehicle that most of us love shouldn't/doesn't automatically garuntee it a win in Engine of the Year. The engine is down on specific power per litre compared to rivals, isn't especially frugal, and is likely the least spoken of aspect of the new car. IMO, BMW's turbo petrol six is an astounding engine for it's very high volume use, and i too look forward to a 135i..... as I am sure are many of the new generation diesels that I haven't as yet been fortunate enough to sample. I get a little tired of the Wheels/Motor bashing on here, seems many are so blinded by their love for all things Nissan that the hurt of not winning every award under the sun for their beloved brand instantly attracts childish allogations of bribes and bum-licking on the magazines behalf. One must remember that although we may not always agree with their views, these guys are mostly seasoned motor industry commentators with far more knowledge and experience of cars than many on here...... end rant.
  2. oh ok, update us then? Cheers
  3. Anyone know the link for live streaming/updates so I can follow it? Thanks in advance
  4. Thanks Duncan, if the big girl doesn't sell we'll likely give them a run at Rally Burnie Now, if only they had a night stage so we could get some cool pics like yours! lol
  5. Anyone interested in the best 34 tarmac rally car in Oz??..............
  6. Excellent read Duncan, thanks for sharing it! Were those pads Ferodo 3000's? We used to run them in the 34 but switched to Endless for Targa this year, something I was not alltogether happy with when we ran out of brakes 2/3rds through Cethana.

Gee, slow down there Troy! Don't go winding the clock back too far mate, seriously... an Ultima! Ever sat in one? You know as well as anyone that to be able to pedal a car quickly, you need to be able to drive it properly. Heck, in an Ultima (well, the one I've been in), I couldn't heel/toe, couldn't move my right elbow, left elbow kept bashing something.... mate, rotten rotten, Rotten thing! My vote? Went to the LFA thingy.... only because tarmac rallying (my "thing") will be flooded with 35 GTR's next year, and I like to be in something different. And I reckon it'll have that "supercar" cache, but with Toyota reliability and "thrashworthiness".
  8. yeah I just looked at it again, it's already gotten way too expensive imo. And like you said, if I was to "have a big one", I'd be needing all those things like bumpers, brackets, etc etc, so'd better better served buying a whole or near complete car.
  9. Sh*t! Did you? "t" LOL..... one little letter Bris
  10. Ok fair enough..... stock 34 gtr for say 40k, part it out, re-gain 35k (be doin real well to get that i reckon, and whats your time worth talkin to Wallies) selling everything of any real value leaves it owing, say, 5k. Cage it - 5k dip/media blast, whatever - a grand labour/moving it around etc - whats your time worth? I'm not being argumentive, believe me, but it's gotta be worth 5 hasn't it? Oh, and if I go off, knowing my luck it'll rip both ends off it, so an end cut would be no good LOL
  11. ok, so, if you already had a 34 gtr caged etc, and you wanted it as a spare shell.... what do you reckon it's worth? I suppose I'm asking whats a good 34 gtr shell worth and can you get them? I know what it costs to do all the prep and cage etc.... Thoughts guys?
  12. Awwww like big awww Shucks n stuff!!! Thanks buddy!
  13. Spread the word folks.... would be nice to keep this car in Oz, there's a couple of O/S buyers sniffing around atm......
  14. Bwaaaaahahaha..... but I though he was nav when you went off??? see below ; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...56#entry3837356
  15. Hi guys and gals What we have here; 2001 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V-spec II N1 One of only two genuine “lightweight” N1 R34’s in Australia, and 45 ever manufactured. This very successful and well-known vehicle won Targa Tasmania outright in 2005 in the hands of Jason and John White. The vehicle is extremely reliable and very competitive, featuring many new upgrades by Melbourne Performance Centre since purchased in 2007. Built and maintained with a “no expense spared” outlook, the vehicle features all the factory N1 racing upgrades, including deleted air con, engine oil cooler & lightweight glass. Some major features are listed here (plenty of other things that i can explain on the phone); 1. Custom built Chrome Molly FIA cage 2. Proflex suspension (recently rebuilt and new rear springs) 3. AP V8 Supercar full-floating rotors 4. Custom made (!!!) billet aluminium brake callipers (8 spot FR, 6 spot Rr) 5. Cobra race seats 6. Motec M800 ECU (data logging) 7. Stilo comms system 8. 8 road wheels 9. Quick release steering wheel 10. Terra-Trip 303+ 11. All "N1" features such as engine oil cooler, steel wheel turbos, stronger engine block and oil pump etc... 12. New harness belts March 2008. 13. The car is currently producing in the region of 358 kw at all four wheels on Elf fuel @ 1.5 bar. This vehicle is wonderfully sorted, fantastic AND exciting to drive, and is still capable of winning any tarmac rally outright. The vehicle is also very suitable for and is fast on the circuit. As expected, there is a few marks on the vehicle due to the nature of tarmac rallying and it's associated stone chipping, but any marks are indeed minor. I'm listing this on behalf of the owner, and the asking price is $95,000- Ph Ben 0438 830 641. Cheers!
  16. Me again, I just wanted to take the chance and publicly thank and congratulate Tim (PHaT MR30) on a fantastic effort over the targa fortnight. Tim took a huge blind leap by jumping in the silly seat with me, not knowing me well, and never having driven with me or experienced the car. That took alot of guts and is certainly not something that many people would do I'm sure. Our 4 days of Recce in the Nuss was a ball, and you took in the information and changes to your calls I needed like some giant over-grown Sponge Bob Square pants! Thanks for not screaming at me when i was struggling with the gear shift issues for the first couple of days, and thanks again for showing faith in me and not getting straight out of the car out after a couple of "double seat grab" moments. LOL I think you've morphed into a top nav mate, and if we don't get a campaign together for next year, then I'm certain that if you put your feelers out you'll land a good gig in a good car This whole motorsport thing reminds me how fortunate we are to be able to compete in it, with the bonus of meeting some first-quality people along the way So if anyone needs a good nav, with balls of steel, get it contact with Tim.......... .......... ............. .................. Or me Cheers, Ben.
  17. Wholly Guackamolli she does sound light!, And that my friend, is the essence of a good package I really noticed even the modest (50kg or so) weight saving in the white 34 in comparison to the blue 34. Whilst the GTR is a great thing, you're always conscious of the weight and the punishment that puts the tyres through, not to mention when she starts to get away a little bit, she has lots of momentum Witness our huge moment on Cethana! LOL I've gotta say I'm really looking forward to seeing your car all done, it's going to be a real nice thing
  18. Great to hear Kerry! I've always been a huge fan of the RB20.... tough lil buggers! Stu.... yep.... you're building a great car, but it's no Skyline! Jokes... I bet it will be a great thing
  19. Haha, I found myself with a nav friend in Vic on the weekend..... after about 5 klms she had started calling the pace notes and we were well on our way to a night in jail! lol
  20. Wishing luck to all the Aussie teams! My normal tarmac rallying driver is in the second VIP car 99 VIP Petfoods Taplin, Andrew Grant, Dean Fitzgerald, Peter Kelly, Paul AUS - Glenelg AUS - Beiguton AUS - Warranoyte AUS - Christchurch SP 7 996
  21. Yes I saw the HUUUUGE chooper too.... I was thinking, "funny place to park a mega-dollar chopper!" Oh, and here's our Liena stage - VERY POOR SOUND THOUGH! Grrrrrr
  22. Excellent! Been dreaming of one myself.... light weight goodness!
  23. Great stuff Benno! How cools the chopper on Queenstown! I only wish our in-car was anywhere near as good
  24. lol, it was a definate double seat grab!
  25. True, it aint glamarous, it's damn hard work! On that dirt road thing.... I don't have an issue, ask young Timmy about our BIG off-road excursion on Cethana!
