  1. I wasn't actually suggesting a Subaru diesel, no, they don't have an auto option and they're not particularly impressive to drive. I drove a current Mazda 6 TD as a fast course car in a tarmac rally recently and was very impressed by it. It was mildly laggy, but the torque was impressive as was the handling and brakes. But I maintain that the japanese vehicles are more reliable, a fact bourne by plenty of friends and acquantances who are car mechanics and warn everyone off the Euros. I also know folks who own them, and they all say you wouldn't consider retaining them post warranty.
  2. Unfortunately all these modern common rail diesels are a disaster out of warranty. They simply are Not as reliable as old school diesels, they're far too finicky and virtually nothing is serviceable. But, if you insist on diesel, all I'll suggest is stick with Asian built, and veer well clear of the Euro crap. All the sweet young things ache for a cute little Golf..... but the smart ones buy a Subaru.
  3. Yeah you're right Baron.... I knew that after I posted it, but you got the drift It used to be 1 + 1, We had to run 17 x 8 on my GTS-t, now we have 18 x 9 which makes me happier trying to catch the Evos (in the dry at least)
  4. We ran the 365 Alcon package under 34 wheels, you can see there was some issues with foreign object clearance (always is with big brakes and rallies) but they cheared fine. Wheel is dependant on whether it is a 32, 33, or 34, as they obviously all had differing sizes from factory. The supp regs clearly state for Early Modern; Early Modern & All Classic: Wheel diameters may be varied by a maximum of plus or minus 2” and wheel width varied up to 2” from the standard dimensions. Classic vehicles may only increase sizes up to maximum of 18 x 9 inches. So, R32= 18x10's R33 = 19 x 10.5 R34 = 20 x 11 (full hectic)
  5. We are competing! Same supp regs.
  6. At the risk of sounding like a wanker, once I realised that I should run my harnesses tight, light, REALY tight, I reckon my driving improved massively. It's like you're completely part of the car, no moving around at all. It's also not remotely uncomfortable, its funny, but once you're moving you don't even notice how tight you are in the car. Better in case of a big acco too I'd like to think.
  7. Not too bad if you have them adjusted correctly, ie, lap belts pulling down onto your thighs hard, then everything else adjusted from there. Most guys run into issues when they have the buckle up round their guts, that's far too high, should be sorta just above your package.
  8. cAN YOU USE A LONGER BOLT (OR BOOKER ROD) WITH SOME NUT AND LARGE WASHERS TO SQUEEZE THE TWO PANELS TOGETHER? Ooops sorry, caps lock!
  9. Really is something special! I can only imagine the amount of bodies swarming over all different parts of this car, all around Brisbane, in an effort to get this car going STAT!
  10. I've spoken to Shannons previously, but they wanted a couple of grand. Maybe because it's a tarmac rally car, doing a couple of thousand klm a year on the road? I should try again, been a couple of years.
