Sometimes if the exhaust is too large, it will make the same power high in the rev range, but loose some power down low. Hence it should accelerate a little better once its sorted. Hope that helps.

To be honest im not sure about adding acceleration mate. But i think it sounds like a good idea considering your volume issues. Did you have the stock one on before, and if so was it punchier down low then? As far as i know, 2.5 inch is about right size for a na rb25, although having the turbo version im not too sure. I wouldnt have thought it to be too large though, maybe the others can confirm it for you. Edit- with the above comment, i say definitely get yourself a muffler.

Only to a certain extent. And only when the cars are reasonably close in comparison. Yes it does in corners etc, but in traffic light grand prix, unless a wrx stalls, it will easily, and i repeat EASILY smoke an r31. Actually even if it stalled i still wouldnt bet my money. Any numb skull can put their foot on the accelerator, and push in a clutch, it really doesnt require skill. The two arent even vaguely a close comparison. I wouldnt even expect to beat a rex in my lightly modded gtst, let alone an rb30e r31. If i remember off the top of my head the vl commodore did a 9 second 0-100 (dunno bout the r31, but their isnt too much in it) where as a wrx of most models will run a 0-100 in 6 flat or better. Like i said, if an rb30e beat a wrx, the wrx wasnt racing.

Why is everyone giving the op so much hate? Just because they posted in the parts section instead of the whole cars section. To the op, their is a whole cars section for you to post this under, it will stop the hate. Also maybe some more detail on the car will help with the sale, instead of just the number plates!

@ isekool. LMFAO!! Like this conversation would have even taken place if it was done on a strip. This is those people in na 6 cyl thrashing it, thinking that the wrx next to them is doing the same when it clearly isnt. If it was on a strip, the na 31 would not stand a chance because the wrx would have a go. Im only assuming still these r31's are na because its in a p-plater thread, of course their is plenty or rb turbo models that will dust a wrx, but that isnt the point. Btw- Im familiar with this mentality. I had a mate with a standard vl commodore that he thought was a weapon. He told us one night of this local vl turbo we were all familiar with and how he smoked it. I ended up speaking to the bloke that owned it a few years later, turns out it was reasonably modified and his mrs drove it. (he owned 3) Either way, you get my point. His mrs was obviously giving it nothing, but that didnt stop my mate telling everyone he handed it to her in his stock na auto vl. Lol @ the group a, although its a more reasonable claim

WTF!? What r31's are we talking about? I assumed we were talking about the version with an rb30e in it. I remember when i was on my p's thinking they were significantly quicker then my vr v6. I drove a fair few of them, then my brother in law bought one. It felt quick too. Me and a mate lined them up on the street like hero's and the commodore (auto v6) dusted it. I was driving the 31 the first time, so my mate demanded we did it again with him driving the 31 cause he thought i cheated. Exact same result. And my v6 commodore got smacked by rexes, as did my v8 commodore of some years later. The rx on the other hand.. well yes, and rb30 will kill it. Edit- my v8 would have had a decent run a a wrx on a roll start, maybe 100-200, but every time i lined up was at the lights. Goodbye commodore.

I completely agree. I know not all p platers drive like shit and smash their cars up, but i think the likely hood of them doing so is very high. I also believe that being on yours p's is a good period of time to learn some basic mechanical knowledge, and the older cheaper cars tend to be much easier to work on due to simplicity.

na rb30 definitely is a bullet proof bit of gear, very easy to work on and cheap as shit for parts. I would think its a decent car for p platers, although i think the op has a little more dough to sling around.

I think their should be less emphasis on which car goes the hardest etc, as none are going to hammer period. I think stick to whichever car you like the looks of and find nice to drive. After all, in my opinion most of the fatal accidents i have seen p platers involved in are in falcodores, mostly 6 cylinder. That is also well before the p plate restrictions, im not saying they dont work or anything, but idiots will be idiots no matter the power of the car, and they all have the power to kill. My friend died in a stock corolla from the mid nineties, not exactly a power house. If your on your p's, you still have plenty of choice as far as looks and ride goes, just go with your preference and wait until you can get something quick. The amount of police on the roads has to be ten fold on when i got my red p's. (8 years ago) At least in my area it is anyway, so i think no matter what, if you get a quick car and plan on having fun on the road, your license will not last long.

Was this in Newcastle man? There has been a lot of this sort of behavior going on in Newcastle lately. Seems to be massive packs of teenage kids doing it too. And the only time i have encountered it, they were throwing punches at me etc, but i didnt do anything back because of the number and the fact they all had bum bags etc on which i assumed had knives in it. Luckily i wasnt taken by surprise though, so they didnt get any of my stuff. One fella even tried to kick me in the nuts because i laughed at him air swinging at me. Useless little f**ks.

lol. I have to admit, back in the day i had a vt 5l and all the skyline boys used to go out of their way to drag me at the lights. It goes both ways. I used to get it handed to me pretty regularly though haha. The biggest highlight was when this knob in a 33 gtst pulled into a left hand turn lane on the 2 lane highway to drag me at the lights. He was revving at me etc, even with another bloke in between us. Lights went green and i got a good launch, while he proceeded to go sideways in a cloud of smoke due to the small amount of gravel in his lane and nearly clean up the car in between us haha. He still struggled to get traction in second, all the while getting handed a beating by a commodore. By the time i saw him start to get traction, i hit the brakes and taunted him like he got smoked. So much fun on my behalf, a lot of frustration on his!

Thing is i havent read any posts that just blatantly right off or say fwd are shit. Sure, their is plenty saying that they dont like the feel of torque steer, or that they prefer rwd which i think is completely understandable, after all it is just preference. People are always going to express their opinion based on their driving experiences, some will prefer awd, some rwd and others fwd. I completely agree that people basing their opinions on a small group of cars and then saying it is shit is misinformed and plainly stupid, however i havent seen any posts of that nature in this particular thread.

This. Although i have to say imo the fenders are overpriced. Decent enough to play, but if you want to play hard rock or metal, plenty of others offer a much better all round package at much better prices. Great for blues and jazz though.

Same deal as me, although i bought the car with the coilpack missfire- so i cant really speak of what it went like with the oem coilpacks. I wouldnt expect the fuel figure to go down too much though, unless of course it was missfiring massively.

Agree with grey. I honestly think most p platers dont need the fastest na car available anyway, i know my fat arsed v6 vr commodore was enough to get me in trouble plenty of times. I say if you like the look of the 33/34 skyline then go for it mate.
