  1. S13's are where it's at! Except for mine... My plan for next year is to run all rounds of the SAU/WRX club sprints in the 180, so a few sprints and DECA's in the Rex and hopefully get to Oran Park in Jan before it closes.
  2. That is really, really cool mate! Seems pretty good value for $15k as well. Did you do the work yourself for that money? How did it feel at the shakedown?
  3. Not sure yet Russ, but will be interesting to see. It didn't feel super loose in the rear end at Sandown at all, but it was pretty damn slow driving so I can't tell. I was wary of it too, but I explained my issues to Traction Tyres and they recommended this so we'll see! Dan: Will be interesting to note the difference the reduced castor makes. My castor brief is 'as much as possible'...
  4. You'll be adjusting them independently Dan, so you can wind it back half a degree and keep toe at 0 from what I'm aware. Here are my settings, which are a fair bit more aggressive than they used to be: Camber F -5 degrees Camber R -2 degrees Toe F 0 Tow R +2mm Castor 7.5 (max without hitting anything) I've only used them for one lap so I can't tell you what it's like yet, but interesting to see multiple suspension places different opinions on what works.
  5. On The Run Motorsport in Clayton.
  6. You're right Dan, they're not that stiff but if the tyre you're using is that old (RE540's haven't been around for a long time now) then they're probably sliding a little instead of biting down into the tarmac and rolling the car onto the correct contact patch. If the spring was softer it may actually roll it over with less grip from the tyre. Having said that though I wouldn't go changing the springs or anything, I'd say it's the tyres letting you down mate. That's my theory anyway!
  7. He owns Sheens Panels in Hawthorn. Has a ML63, a C63 I think and the 997 turbo that I see regularly... all in white.
  8. Camber is not excessive Dan, I was running more than that and never had issues wearing the inside of the tyre. If you're not getting the outright cornering grip that is usually generated by the old semi-slicks then, as Ben has said, maybe the car isn't rolling over enough with the stiff springs you're running.
  9. Wow, that seems like a really aggressive wing angle. Did you trial different angles while you were there, and did it affect top speed a lot? Car looks great by the way!
  10. That's a great shot Troy, love it.
  11. Thanks for the info Harry. Now to decide whether to buy some dedicated track rims or just wait for the RE070's to die and just use KU's all the time...
  12. Yeah I've never used them but haven't heard too many favourable reports on the 888's. Think I may have to grab some Kumho's for the Rex.
  13. So lateral grip woud be comparable then Harry? Were the 888's fresh?
  14. Wasn't gone for too long then!
  15. So cheap! Did you get them through Option 1 Ben?
  16. Great driving Russ, looks like a really fun event.
  17. Trent mentioned the Federal 595 RS' as possibly being better for the track, has anyone had a comparison of the two? They're pretty similarly priced so could also be a cheap alternative if not going for outright times in a championship etc Edit: Looks like Ben answered my question above, I should hit the reply button quicker
  18. Keen to see how you go Ben. I'm thinking of grabbing some for the STi as track rubber as the RE070's are too pricey for track work. They're such a cheap option, and hopefully you like them as that's the sort of money I'd be happy to spend for a few trackdays a year in it.
  19. Horrible news. I wish all the best to their loved ones, and may they rest in peace.
  20. So, so awesome! Well done guys, and great driving Mark.
  21. I'm upset that I'll never own that
  22. See, that is reasonable for sure, though it is a gearbox that is very long in the tooth for $3500. How much do you get G50 boxes for? All Porka parts prices I've seen always attract a fair Porka tax, as GT-R parts attract GT-R tax. Swaybars (unsure of brand or anything) for a mates Boxster are something ridiculous like 2-2.5k, same for a 964. He paid somthing like $1500 changeover for his stock items which is hefty in my opinion! Troy: JFK's old GTO is pretty damn cool for $12k. I dig it, and it's fast
  23. Super awesome But yeah, the maintenance costs scare me. If they were more reasonable I might have traded up already, but I've seen what the workshops charge and I'm not a fan of the Porka tax that's for sure. At least I know most things on my car can be replaced inexpensively (relatively that is). I know a 915 porka gearbox may be 7k by itself, and that's just a crap, old, stock gearbox really.
  24. Haha here's hoping If they perform anywhere near the set on my mates Boxster I will be over the moon, best body control and damping I've felt before. The way it took ripples was amazing so fingers corssed.
  25. Yeah I was just chatting to someone about that before, definitely glad it's all in house otherwise I would have gone mad by now. That is a good solution... but at 90k this would probably be my choice: http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=13240 Or strip this bucket of bolts and get myself this: http://www.my105.com.au/classified.asp?id=13280
