  1. The GT-R is definately a better value for money racer. It will always be quicker, but I'm just a fan of the old school RS's (replicas). NA, lightweight, simple cars with a heap of character. But I'm a Porsche fan boy, and if I wasn't then I'd go a GT-R for outright pace. A mate of mine has a white 73 RSR replica that he runs with the Porsche Club. It does 23's around Sandown, and 50's (I think, could be a touch less) at PI. It might not be as quick as a lot of the GT-R's, and it's worth a fair bit more than a lot of them, but I'd rather be belting around in that
  2. Thanks for the tips Josh. I wouldn't build one, I'd rather get a fully sorted one and have some fun in it. The reason I'm contemplating it is because I've spent the last 5 year building a car and it's getting frustrating. Plus you lose too much money, so if I'm gonna lose then I need to buy something where someone else has lost too. A mate and his dad run a class winning 944 in the local PCV track days here, and I've seen some of the bills to maintain it to stock specification and it's scary! Their engine, without ancillaries, cost a touch more than my fully built engine (sleeved block, oversize valves, bored to 2.2 etc) without ancillaries and it's a bog stock 944 S2 engine. Ouch. I've also seen what the specialist shops charge to parts and it's a joke. They paid $400 more for identical RE55's than I did through a well known Porsche Tuning shop... talk about Porka tax! Those WRC cars are the bomb... bugger it, Troy can you be a pal and bring me back a 205 T16 Evo from the UK? Pay ya back later...
  3. ^^^ Way to go out in style! Nismo: So you've raced older 911's before, or currently? If so, what did you think of them overall, and what were costs like?
  4. Haha thanks for the tip! I knew I'd heard bad things about one. Pricey box for a stocker. Is the G50 a nice box, or just better than the 915?
  5. I would cut all of you for that RSR Troy: See, sub 20k for a real nice S14 like that is what makes me want to sell my car in a million iddy biddy pieces and make double what I could sell it for, and sell it all quite quickly (bar maybe the engine which may take a while). It's hard losing so much cash on the build in the first place, but buying someone elses race car for cheap cheap makes it an easier proposition
  6. That's the one! I've heard bad things about the 915 or g50, but I can't remember which one By what you're saying I'm assuming it's the 915 that's clunky and weak.
  7. I try not to, but it keeps pulling me back in... The GT2 replica wasn't a GT3 cup challenge car as far as I'm aware, but could well have been. Looked identical to this:
  8. Round and around, and maybe into a tree? Troy: That would be perfect mate. There's a mob in the UK who make a similar thing. 3.2's and 964's dressed up as '73 RS'. Awesome stuff! This is shit hot too: http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=10369 and this looks like a decent thing too, if SR20's are your bag : http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=9375 I have such a love/hate relationship with my105...
  9. Yeah, I saw that one Troy... If only I had the money! There was a really nice white 993 GT2 replica for sale a few months back for around 45k from memory. NA, 70's model done up to look like a GT2, but with a 3.6. I'd love somehting like that. I like this one too, pity it's not in an RS/RSR replica body: http://www.my105.com/classified.asp?id=9227
  10. That is so pimp it's not funny! Nice shots too mate
  11. Haha I do actually want to get a bike, but I have to get a licence first...and some spare cash Really need to decide what I want to do stat
  12. It is almost ready for the track, but I'm just getting a bit aggro with how long it's taking and I get tempted every now and then by a fully sorted car for the same money as I can get for all my unused parts... I've got one part that I paid for last year, and still don't have an acceptable end product in my hands. Getting out of hand. Something like this REALLY tickles my fancy: http://my105.com/classified.asp?id=7844 I think I'd go bankrupt trying to pay for maintenance though I'm blaming this one completely on Troy though. I just shouldn't look at my105, it's bad for my brain!
  13. Don't you have enough toys Ben?!
  14. ps Damn you for bringing this up Troy... who wants to buy a 180SX rolling shell? This is pay back for the Greddy brakes isn't it?
  15. Someone will be getting themselves a tip top GT-R then. Will be sad to see it go mate, if you decide to sell that is.
  16. I think my hatred for you grows that little bit more with each post you make James...
  17. Selling Jack?!
  18. I'm a nice guy, what can I say...
  19. I would enter, but ya know, I want to make sure it's fair for everyone else...
  20. Yeah, it's an awesome track. Very technical, and the first half is very intimidating! Especially "Oh Shit" corner. Apparently around 10 cars have been written off there in the last few months, and all on the same corner. We were the first group to go there without incidence. Great track though, and the guys who run it are top blokes too.
  21. Great stuff Sarah, I see Joel has taught you well! Love the shots over the crest
  22. Dedicated track car is the way to go in my opinion Troy. After doing Haunted Hills on the weekend in the Clubbie, and constantly having the thought of "If I bin it, I'm walking 20km's to work on Monday" hanging over my head, it's just a lot more comforting knowing worst case you still have a car to drive if it all goes pear shaped.
  23. I reckon you would fit Troy, as long as there is no sunroof. I sat in Glenn Ridge's SP and I could squeeze in, and with the seat on the floor I even think I might be able to squeeze a helmet on That 33 does look good though. I like the idea of buying a pre-done tarmax rally car. You know they're well prepped, and they're actually eligible for something. Wait, I'm starting to be convinced myself!
  24. Yeah, I spotted a red 430 on Malvern Rd yesterday as well. I reckon I see more 430's than I did 360's.
