  1. If you have a 'crystal white' light on low beam, chances are the low beam HIDs were not removed at compliance. it is possible to get halogen lamps with a blue coating on the glass to make them look 'white' or even 'bluish'. The easiest way to tell is HIDs will be a little dull when you first turn them on, then brighten up after a few seconds.. Halogens come on at full brightness instantly. to replace the high beam/fog light properly, you would need a H4 Bixenon HID kit. Unless you want to ditch the fog lights and just have a high beam. Our cars do have canbus, but I can't see why there would be any difference with HID kits, as the BCM drives a relay, and the relay powers the headlights.
  2. I think it looks better, and suits the rest of the car.. but that's just my opinion.. plenty will probably disagree with me.
  3. They are probably ok.. sounds like they just has some issues separating the EGR valve from the intake plenum.
  4. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. but personally, I think that is ugly.. (the car, not the girls..) Don't want to detract from your dedication though.. i am sure there are many hours worth of work there!
  5. Sorry.. I was just being condescending toward the mechanic. I thought he might be charging your for mythical engine items like some dodgy mechanics do.
  6. Egr belt??? Did they top up the indicator fluid too??
  7. umm... faulty remote? if your old one worked ok, and your spare isn't working properly, even with a new battery, then chances are, it's the remote..
  8. According to the Nissan webpage, it isnt on any 250gt, 300gt or 350gt 5sp auto (sedan only).
  9. If you can track down a compliance workshop in your area, they should be able to tell you how to do it, as they should do it on every V35/36 that comes into the country.
  10. Technically, yes you can as both HUs are almost identical internally, but it is not a straight swap.. You need to swap the active (fan) heatsink on the output stage and change some surface mounted resistors inside the unit. you also need to ensure you are using the HU from the same series V35 as some connectors changed between series.
  11. on the sedans, I believe it is only on the 350GT Manual or CVT. It's standard on all coupes..
  12. That has to be one of the tidest installs I have seen.. Asthetically, it's awesome.. would be good to see some specs though.
  13. Sorry, I didn't get to this last night.. I got home fairly late. I have attached a scan from the clarion FSM.. but this is for the G35 HU, so not sure if it will be the same as the JDM HU. Might help though. I will endevor to have a look at the JDM one at home tonight. clarion.pdf
  14. I don't have a definitive answer, but many have stated that if you just press the VDC off button, that it does still work if you exceed 60km/h or really get out of shape. I have also heard if you hold it down for 10sec, it turns off completly.. Haven't actually tested any of this myself though. - and no idea if it impacts wanabe said..
  15. 1st car was a 1966 black HR holden sedan.. looked like hearse... .. had that for 1 year until I could afford a real car. 2nd was a 1986 grandpa beige coloured Aust built R31 skyline 5sp manual - had that 5 years and sold to a friend (who drive it into the ground over the next 10) 3rd was a 1993 Maroon J30 Maxima Ti. Had that for 13 years until a broken crank shot it dead late last year. Current 2005 silver V35 sedan - 350GT 6MT. Wife has a 2007 white J31 Maxima ST-L.
  16. I have a 05 stock non-bose HU in the cupboard at home, I can have a look tonight if you like.
  17. No probs.. I stand corrected with this too, the Bose stereo was an option on the non-premium.. looks like the only items that are 'premium only' are the half leather seats and the 'Combination suede leather Pearl - ground sheet' - whatever that is (probably lost in translation).
  18. Sure, if you can do that.. But I intended to mean a private/personal vehicle.
  19. I have never bought a new car, and probably never will.. wait a couple of years and buy one with a 40-50k km on it with a good service history for 50% of the new price. the new car smell and feel isn't worth that much to me.
  20. FYI - http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ja&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fhistory.nissan.co.jp%2FSKYLINE%2FV35%2F0411%2FDATA%2Fmain1_2.html
  21. The only way to get a Bose system was to buy the premium model.. you can't option the base model with a Bose stereo. However, most other 'premium' items can be optioned on a base model. Eg, dual zone climate - steering wheel audio controls, etc.
  22. ^^ I hope you were drinking coffee at the time.. or you might want to see a doctor about that!
  23. Perhaps the Series1 controls are different??. But the S2 double DIN facias are avaiable with or without the dual button. Swapping the S2 dual button onto a panel that doesn't have it, is about a 5 minute job if you are handy with a soldering iron.. it simply a matter of unsoldering the momentry switch from the donar board and soldering it into the new board.. then swapping the actual facia item. As Nightcrawler said.. dual zone climate control is just a gimick that you never use.. but I do understand the desire to have it working, if your car comes with it..
  24. I would assume, if you already have a single DIN head unit in place, then it must have the double DIN facia, as you can't install a standard head unit with the original factory facia. If you can get your hands on a facia that has the 'dual' button for the aircon, you can swap the button on to the double DIN facia you currently have.
