  1. It probably is a good idea to clear this data when making any significant changes. But I reset mine a couple of months back and reduced my fuel economy for a while.
  2. Sorry, you managed to slip your last post in just before I hit send. I meant the disconnecting the battery method didn't work for me.
  3. ^^ this method did not work on my 2005 V35.. I am assuming the OP wants to clear the self learn data, which will need consult or a datascan tool (not sure if there is a manual procedure for this?) Doubt you will notice any difference, unless a faulty sensor has been messing up the data previously. maybe removing the battery works for earlier ECUs??
  4. I don't think they are illegal in Qld actually.. I checked it out a little while back.. the rules are weird.. Qld has the normal 'No V8' and 'No turbo' rules, but for others, the limit is 210kW. And since the 350GT produces 206KW, it isn't restricted. However, if you own a restricted vehicle and want to apply for an exception to allow you to drive it on your 'P', then one of the requirements for the exception is a maximum of 125KW/tonne, which the 350GT doesn't pass.. So if they ever do decide to ban it.. you have no chance of getting an exception..
  5. There is no bluetooth on the factory stereo.
  6. Agree with the others.. Don't think cold cranking is necessary. Never did this in my old maxima after extended periods of inactivity. Never had any issues with it. It didn't burn any oil and ran great until a broken crank snout shot it dead at 290,000km.
  7. Contact patch size is direclty related to tyre pressure and weight on the tyre, not tyre width. A narrow tyre will have a narrow but longer contact patch, a wider tyre will have a wider but shorter contact patch, assuming the same pressure and weight. The contact patch area remains the same. There are plently of articles about it.. but a quick search came up with this. http://autospeed.com/cms/title_Tyres-Grip-and-All-That/A_108915/article.html
  8. ^^ this.. no reason for performance decrese.. just rougher ride, as the lower profile tyres will absorb less.. Although if you run the same tyre pressure, the contact patch size will be the same.. just wider and shorter for wider tyres. Fuel economy may come down to the type of tyre.. maybe also a slight difference in outside diameter??
  9. ^^ careful.. the 'for sale thread' nazi, will come an slap you with a ban...
  10. It isn't just the additional weight to the car overall, it is a rotating mass the engine has to spin. Similar to fitting a lighter flywheel, it is only a tiny difference in overall car weight, but the less mass the engine has to spin, the less power is consumed in doing just that. But as said, I don't know how much you will notice heavier wheels, as they don't spin anywhere near as fast as a flywheel. I would also suggest you ensure you select the correct size tyres so the overall wheel diameter is the same.. otherwise you will have all sorts of issues with your speedo..
  11. Spinning the wheels up to speed requires some power, heavier wheels will require more power, not sure how much you will actually feel this, but it is a factor. The other issue is unsprung weight. heavier wheels add to unsprung weight and create more initeria in the suspension, meaning the suspension won't be able to react to changes in the road surface as quickly. Again, I am not sure how much you will actually feel this.. This is why people like the Rays 19s, as they are quite light.
  12. Based on your description, I am thinking a fuel pump or regulator too.. but there are other possible causes. If the 250GT fuel pump is the same as the 350GT fuel pump, then the G35 pump should be fine.
  13. No probs.. not sure when I would be down your way next anyway. Don't know if the best way would be to match the colour of the rest of the car and respray the door, or match the colour of this door, and blend the colour on the adjoining panels..
  14. Will he do it for fellow skyline owners?? My front passenger side door was resprayed by a previous owner (no idea why), and the colour doesn't quite match.. irritates me every time I see it..
  15. I would also question a $2k figure for just an 'exterior surface' respray, especially if you want a pearl finish. If done properly there is a lot of work involved.. removal of door trims, door handles, removal of windscreen/window rubber seals. headlights, bumpers, rear badges, tail lights, door bump strips, etc, etc.. I would estimate closer to $4k.. $2k for the paint and another $2k for labour. If you just wanted a standard 2 layer paint (not pearl), you might be able to cut the paint cost a fair bit. If you existing paint is flawless (no stone chips, deep scratches, etc), you might even get the labour a little cheaper. unless you happen to know someone in the business and can do a 'cash in hand' deal..
  16. Looks good, but have a bit of a look around first. 250GTs tend to go quite cheap as everyone is after the 350GT (or 300GT for P platers), have seen some go for under $10k. You also might want to check it out in person, to find out which one of the (at least 2) cars represented in the pics, is the actual one for sale.
  17. Agreed, I had the turret (hood), and boot lid resprayed in another car a few years back now, and that was $900 - wasn't triple layer pearl paint either.. You can probably add 50% more if you want a pearl coat.
  18. Personally, I don't like the debadged look.. it makes me thing 'dodgy back yard repair job'. But some prefer the debadged look. Just personal taste I guess.
  19. Not local to Sydney, but I see them pop up on ebay in USA often.. remember in USA it is 'cool' to rebadge an infiniti as a Nissan skyline! The 350GT badge is often there. the 'SKYLINE' letters pop up a bit less often.
  20. JDM series1 runs through to late 2004. Probably the same as the G35 series1.
  21. I thought the canadian rules just had low beam headlights that were forced on when the engine is running.. not separate DRLs.. could be wrong though, it has been a while since I have been there!
  22. This is where they were in my car when I bought it.. they looked stupied and the first thing I did to the car was remove them..
  23. Mine had LED DRLs when I bought it, I removed them because I think it looked to much like an Audi wannabe..
  24. Good question - the G35 covers the V35 and V36, so it is possible you will to define the year to determine what will fit.
  25. G35 has the 3.5L engine.. G37 has the 3.7L engine.. infiniti model numbers signify engine size.. not series.
