  1. See Shane at Vic Park Tyre and Brake. Hes a good lad. He has a habit of cutting through the crap and telling you whats good and bad. Generally Falkens rate pretty highly in his books. Ive had 3 sets of Falkens on 3 different cars, all good. But these Azenis ive got on my current 18's are starting to get a little loose despite only being 50 percent worn. A symptom my brother also seemed to get on the same set of tyres on his 180SX. Better than Nankangs, Toyo's, Kuhmo's and most Dunlops any day of the week and thrice on Sundays tho! Also never had a problem with most Yokohama's ive used. Edit: Oh also had a set of Hankook Ventus Plus on my old SSS Pulsar... they had trouble keeping 100kw on the road, never mind 200! Useless. Red17
  2. Im running 1 half of a HKS super drager system (eg 1 3 inch muffler) at the moment with a cat. Its loud, real loud. I wouldnt want it like that as a daily driver by any means. My stereo isnt loud enough to get over it Red17
  3. Sorry to hijack the thread, but i thought id add my 2c. Ive got these rims on my R32 (also paid $1500 oddly enough) and they look fantastic! Serious deep dish These are a great buy for the money. Pics dont do them justice *free bump* Red17
  4. Channel 9 this morning on the Today show had a quick story about women getting into Drifting and how most of em were kicking the guys asses coz the lack of testosterone meant their right foot was lighter Anyway, it was a very positive story about enjoying motorsport in a controlled environment. So its not ALL bad news. But today tonight has always had the journalistic standards of 50 monkeys at 50 typewriters ("It was the best of times it was the BLURST of times? YOU STUPID MONKEY!"). Also the comments made about the various video's knocking about of supposed pro's doing car videos. I *think*, and dont quote me on this one, the Rendevous in Paris was Jacques Laffite in a Ferrari, and I do believe it was in uncontrolled circumstances (watch it and tell me otherwise.... theres no way they can set up that many cars in that many positions on that many streets in a single take). However, it was shot by pro's you are right there. Getaway in Stockholm was filmed on triple CCD Sony's, which are for all intensive purposes, broadcast quality. These are not really "pro" cameras, but are top of the line consumer. (my friend talked to the creators back when he was into making his own car vids). It doesnt take much to make a car mounted camera setup (mate has 2 rigs, made out of 20 bucks worth of ally, fasteners etc.... with a 400 dollar high res camera on the end) Results certainly look professional Red17
  5. My R32 has Suede leather seats front and back. Dont think the earlier models had these. In fact ive had R32 owners swear that leather interior didnt come in any R32... then they saw mine . Ive seen quite a few with the same seats since then. Red17
  6. I wouldnt bother trying to fix it. I had a blitz access ecu sticker on my bonnet when it came into the country. After spending 6 hours picking it off (it had been baked on by the sun), i realised that it had taken the layer of clear coat off the top of the paintwork. I highly doubt a buff will fix this, ive tried everything with not even a slight reduction. Dont think its been clearcoated onto the paint, but it being there for so long has caused it to come off with the sticker. On mine you can actually feel that the area where the sticker was on is lower than the rest of the paintwork! badness! Red17
  7. LOL you guys have some dodgy fuel consumptions. I get close to 500 if i baby it around and usually about 450 from week to week. Half highway, half city driving. My 02 sensor is dead as a doornail too, nissan diagnostics get no reading from it
  8. I only know people in Perth that do remaps, Bikirom (http://www.bikirom.com/) and Lumpy from Hyperdrive (http://www.hyperdrivems.com.au/) Red17
  9. If your not going to change settings all the time then reprogramming the stock ecu will serve your needs easily. SAFC's are for people who want to fiddle with fuelling, where as an ecu program is more a "Set and forget" sorta thing. If you can find someone who will do remaps & tunes cheaply when you want to change something then the stock ecu is great. Otherwise do all your mods at once and remap it once
  10. And then theres this, the most awesome V8 TT conversion ive seen http://www.zparts.com/showcase/engines/ima...45zpower_4b.jpg http://www.zparts.com/showcase/engines/ima...zpower_03rw.jpg http://www.zparts.com/showcase/engines/ima...powers_11rw.jpg
  11. Well done on the conversion, nice to see a few more jap V8's getting around. My friend over here in WA has just finished his V8 VH41DE Silvia conversion and its a fantastic car. Sounds and performs great. He had a bit more trouble than you no doubt having to squeeze it in a smaller bay. He had to stick to the standard headers because theres only a matter of a couple of cm's between the headers and the chassis members! But overall a helluva lot more fun than the CA18DET it used to have bolted in it Great work! Red17

  13. My friend has the only V8 silvia in Perth.. that we know of. and its VH41DE not 45. He did the whole conversion himself with a little help from a good engineer, took him a long time to do, including deciphering an entire Infiniti loom, modifying steering column & rack, entirely new cooling system including redesigned water pump outlets. Some would say there wasnt alot done to it to get it to bolt in, but its the many hours spent on the small details which made it work. Those who heard it at Speedworks when it was started will testify to its quality Wouldnt be too difficult to do it in an R33 of course. Little bit more engine room and it actually might fit under the bonnet (which it doesnt on a silvia). And I wouldnt get too confident about having a manual. My mate has stuck with the Infiniti auto for now since every option he pursued, such as 300ZX boxes, RB boxes and just about anything else with a Nissan badge, didnt bolt up. What you really want is a VK56DE out of a Nissan Titan! Red17
  14. Cefiro's look awesome? All the aerodynamic styling of a Midland brick paver. Having said that... i still want one as a project car red17
  15. Err yes there is a "Set" offset for each car, especially when your talking about a skyline. 4 pot brakes make it mighty difficult to bolt on just any rim with any offset. My 32 has +35's all round... the difference between a 35 and a 38 is minimal in terms of looks, and id doubt itd make a major handling difference. Bear in mind not all rims come in all offsets, which means its quite common for people to buy a set of second hand rims without thinking about it only to find it doesnt clear the brakes or sticks out the guards by a good few cm. Red17
  16. Theres a 4 door one of these around the corner from me with the crappy KA24 in it for $500 even has 16 inch volks on it! Not even he seems to be able to get rid of his. I like the R30... but it seems no one else does Good luck selling it, top little car
  17. Oh man, i gotta feel for ya. That sucks when your stoked about getting a new car only to have some arrogant jellyback ruin it for ya. Not all of us have had issues with our imports, ive had mine 18 months and its easily defectable (lowered, big wheels, bov etc). I havent so much as been looked at by a copper, touch wood. Perhaps he saw the P Plates and figured you were easy prey. Hope the transport guys help you out. Some of em are really good to deal with... others... not so good. Red17

    I Hate Cars

You sure its done a piston and its not just a burnt valve causing the lack of compression? I presume youve had an endoscope down the bore to make sure. Could largely change the cost of the repairs.
  19. Doesnt rockingham have a pits system where you take your car to the local mechanic to get it evaluated? Was like that a couple of years ago when I lived down there. If so, leave a carton of beer on the passenger seat, they'll pass anything Red17
  20. Mine does it too, oddly enough it only started doing it after I got the engine fixed from burning 2 exhaust valves in cylinder 6. I know for a fact my 02 sensor is dead as a doornail. Could be that maybe. I just put up with it, make sure i keep off the loud pedal until the needle is in the middle of the guage (where it normally sits). Red17
  21. In all honesty the difference between mandrel and press bent exhausts isnt huge especially when theres not many bends involved. My R32 has 3 bends (that are of any significance, and one of those is on the front pipe which he isnt getting anyway), the rest are such slight bends (5-10 degrees) that spending extra money on a mandrel bend is a bit silly. Admitedly I have seen some bad press bent exhausts that would limit flow considerably. But done correctly they can be pretty good. And since 3 inches is pretty large anyway, going down to 2.5-2.75" on 2 or 3 bends isnt going to stifle flow that much.
  22. Get a 32. Be more original
  23. You doing it yourself with a kit or do you just have a core and need to mount and pipe it all up? Coz kits are much easier and can be installed in an afternoon. Ive been doing mine at the moment which is just a cooler and ive had to weld custom mounting brackets to it. Took me a whole day getting it to fit right, trimming the bumper supports and so on. Trial and error really. Make sure you have all the tools before you start, if you gotta make up custom bits and pieces, plus cut a steel bumper support you'll need plenty of tools. An angle grinder is a must (even the kits require trimming to the bumper support) I havent even started on the piping yet. Thats gonna be another couple of days work at least for me.
